I really did love the concept of this story; however, at times both Mitchell and Amelia seriously grated on my nerves. Ms. Stoyanoff does do a good job in portraying the raw intensity of their relationship. Despite this, I simply could not bring myself to like Amelia and I couldn't really connect with her character. The way she acted immaturely and blew up at things just turned me off her. Mitchell I liked a little better but his controlling and violent temperament had me proceeding with caution when it came to him. I realize that this is the first book in a series and I do think that the author is going to do great things with these two characters. I see Amelia and Mitchell’s bond only getting stronger and the pettiness and immaturity that marked them in this book will be long gone as they begin to work together and unite.

Overall, The Soul’s Mark: Found is a strong start to what I think will be a great series. This is a pretty good YA read. If you are interested in a new twist on vampires, pick this one up.

Read this book in one day, it had me captivated from beginning to end! I loved the bond between Mitchell and Amelia. They were always fighting and challenging each other, but they never walked on ice around each other and I liked that. Really, Really loved this book!

With so many vampire themed books, "FOUND" is completely different from the others. The main character , Amelia, chooses to fight what she feels and that is was is so remarkable with her. She is still rational with her decisions.
Thought the main character is quite rebellious, it showed how instinct, life experiences and friends , teaching us that no matter what, we, ourselves should have a say in our life.

At first when I heard this book was about Vampires I was a little disappointed. As we all know, that genre has been done to death, but the story was so original, it didn't take long to get past my vampire prejudice. I had just read a book that was quite a disappointment and was thrilled that this one grabbed hold of my interest and wouldn't let go. I read this book in one day, and didn't want it to end.

The Soul's Mark: FOUND by Ashley Stoyanoff was a quick, easy and fun read. I'm very glad I had the opportunity to read this book through the We Love YA Books ARR Readers’ Corner. Finally, a new take on vampirism. No one sparkles, no one is indestructible, and no one fights a werewolf. And don't get me wrong, I do love my werewolves too, generally more than vampires, but this book has me rethinking that.

A truly fantastic read! The characters are unusual with realistic human elements and emotions that draw you into the world of Stoyanoff's vision. This is a definite first, as the conflicts are authentic to the real world while infusing the supernatural in a unique way not touched on in other books within this genre. I was given this book by the author in exchange for an honest review. Let me preface my review that it sorrows me to give the book this rating because until half way through it was a solid 4 star novel.

The Soul's Mark: Found by Ashley Stoyanoff seems like it's going to be just another paranormal novel, but there's a rich backstory here, and we are introduced to Amelia, who is a teenager who has gone through a devastating experience, but wins a scholarship to a prestigious school and it seems all of her dreams are coming true. She meets new beautiful friends who seem to accept her for who she is. That said, she can't hide from her past, and the dreams she has of a true love haunt her real life. Will Amelia get the courage and strength to live in this new life and move on from the tragedy of her past?

I'm trying not to give away too much here because there are some terrific plot twists that you should discover on your own. Like I said above, I loved the first half of this novel. Amelia is a tentative protagonist who had a lot of growing potential-- you couldn't help but like her and know that she was just going to get stronger and better throughout the book. The other characters are intriguing. The setting and the set up of the story was fascinating and the pacing was spot on.

Then halfway through, something happens. I'm going to have spoilers in this paragraph so beware! We are introduced to Mitchell, who is one of the most unlikeable male protagonists that I have ever met. There are reasons for why he is so unlikeable, but the "good" aspects of his personality aren't that appealing to me either. Not to mention he's a bazillion years old and acts like Amelia's FATHER, and yet they are supposed to be in love??? I couldn't grasp his overbearing nature and the dramatic difference in their experience and personalities and ages-- the gap has never seemed so vast. Top that off with Amelia becoming less appealing when she's around him. I couldn't help hope that she would find a way to permanently sever their link.

Overall, a very promising start to a novel, but the last half was a difficult journey for me. That said, Stoyanoff can obviously write and plot, so I think she's just going to get better with every book. I'd definitely pick up the next installment or her next book whatever that may be.(less)

I will get to a big reason i dropped the rating so much later because it has to deal with the end, promise no spoilers or anything but later. But overall if you want a new take on vampires and soulmates i highly recommend this right off the bat. with that being said let me tell you more about my thoughts on the plot.

Plot: So it started off with me really like "um this is odd..." like the people are overly friendly, and far to like "oh we are best friends" i automatically would have been like something is amiss here i know it! And at first i didn't think that i would continue on with the story but the summary made me really interested so i went along with it. The whole fact that this girl is suppose to be genius is a little silly to me because she is really stupid, she doesn't question the weird behavior of everyone else...but it might also be because we are getting at least two peoples POVs so we know all sides. So moving on from that. Um i liked the fact that it wasn't automatically well now that i am with you i will love you. I thought that some ideas could have been better explained such as Eric is Mitchell's son? I don't understand....anyways....sorry about that but there it is...it wasn't badly paced at the end or anything but i guess i just started losing interest when she started doing really out of character things and confusing the fuck out me. So there is another reason i dropped the star ratings because i got really confused with some of her actions near the end.

Okay characters.

Amelia (Millie) - is our main lady and dictates the book for the first four chapters then we start switching POVs but that is me being an ass because it always throws me off when authors do that... i don't mind switching but maybe start it a bit sooner? anyways that is not the point of this part of the review. Millie is a girl genius with a horrible past. I liked her for the most part and i really started loving her after Mitch bit her, and guess what it tells you that in the summary so i didn't give anything away. Anyways unfortunately like i said before in the plot she starts to do really out of character things that i just don't understand, and honestly her quick change of heart bothered me because i wanted it to be more gradual. Let them have more alone time learning about each other you know?? well i suppose this is the first in a series so it is technically allowed but it still bothered me.

Mitchell (Mitch) - is unbelievably possessive, and i can't decide how much i liked it. i love possessive guys because they are so easy to piss off (in books of course) and make it all the more interesting, but he takes it to like a whole new level. Anyways his character is hard to gauge because when he with Millie either he is crying - yes crying - or about to bite her head off, and even when he isn't all he does is try to bite off other people's heads off. i thought that he could have been a better developed character and have more sides to him than what we get, and really sometimes he just seemed like a baby to be and honestly i thought he wasn't fighting hard enough. i don't know maybe that is just me. i wanted him to man up and stop trying to do the right thing and try to win her heart like a normal person!

Eric, Angelle, Luke, Lola: Are part of her "new" family and they right off the bat declare her family which they might be able to get away with that but Millie accepting it so willingly at first bothered me. If i came from a past like hers i think that she would be more cautious that she might be a little more distant from people than what she seemed. Anyways this is about them and i will admit that i liked each of them had their own personalities and i feel like we know them a lot better than Mitch which again causes me problems...

okay ending welllllll....hmmm.....it felt and i know this will sound strange but it felt to long, and it was like trying way to hard to continue this into a series and i know that probably doesn't make sense but it didn't feel flowing after awhile, this is in like the last 10% of the book and i was just like please just stop it! i don't even know why i felt like that but i did. i guess because it felt like a lot was trying to happen at once, but also trying to drag it out because this is a series....so if that makes sense there it is. whether its a cliffhanger or not is on the amount that you enjoyed it.

So my last thoughts? Well 1) i am not a big vampire reader fan, thats right i am werewolf girl, but i did actually enjoy this and i think if you are a vampire fan its totally worth your time! 2) if you are a werewolf fan like me and you love possessive crazy men then yes i recommend this for you as well 3) if you like paranormal romance then yes. 4) if you love books where even though there is the soulmate rule the characters dont automatically go goo-goo for each other then HELL yes i recommend this and i loved this book just for that reason right there alone.

Okay, where to start...the plot was really strong (as it had strong support). The storyline was obviously better than Twilight (sorry for all those Twilight lovers, but I just HATE it with capital H A T E). The vampires were so realistic, they didn't sparkle like little girlies mixed with glitter and they took everything nice and slowly. Although they told her the truth near the end/middle, the story progressed in a nice pace, showing that this story was obviously not rushed. The story stared of with the prologue, making me a bit confused and curious, which made me keep reading. The start of chapter one hada strong impact on me. I don't know why but it completely grabbed me in. I wanted to keep on reading so I sat there, in front of my computer, actually reading and staying on track (which usually doesn't happen). That just shows how strong the beginning is, considering the fact that I usually get distracted by things easily when I read the beginning of books.

The fact that this book was about vampires kind of amazes me because after reading the first few pages of Twilight, it made me really dislike vampire books. This completely changed my view on vampires. So what if they sparkle like princesses in one book? That doesn't mean that all vampires are total daisies. Well anyways, this book made me think that ALL vampires (excluding the ones from Twilight) are really that dreamy, handsome and strong. If this book changed my perspective on vampires this much, it deserves 5 stars already.

Anyways, the characters are awesome. Although it took me a bit of time to like Amelia after she broke down, I still believed that she was a strong character with everything that had happened in the past to her (I won't say anymore before I spoil it). She still kept her head up high after finding out many things. Although she wanted to leave, it was obvious that she still had the stong will inside of her that insisted she should stay.

As for Mitchell, he is a completely mesmerizing character. Even though he is overprotective and a little possessive, he still finds a way to make that all show that he just does it out of love. Although he seemed so much like he was thick-headed and strong, in reality, he shows that all in order to protect his fear of losing Amelia again.

What I would really like to see are all the other relationships develop a bit more. I really want to see more of Angelle and Ty, and Lola and Luke. I would also want to see a little love story blossom for Eric too!

so overall, this story was amazing with stead progress and a great plot. Can't wait to read the second one!(less)

The Soul's Mark: FOUND starts off with a wallop and ended with a smile. When I was contacted by the author to read this book, I had no clue what it was about not having even read the synopsis as yet, which having now done so is a good overview of the premise, but hey, I love a new book and could not pass up the opportunity to read something new from a new to me author. I enjoyed this book very much. The Soul's Mark begins with Amelia traveling by bus to start a new life having received the ultimate college scholarship. She is hoping for a new start after experiencing a significant trauma, she is emotionally broken, insecure, pitiable, and verging on having her fear overtake her. I will admit I did not care much for her character at the beginning, as I tend to enjoy a stronger protagonist, but as the story progresses Amelia grows in spirit and strength and is forced to face incredible challenges that bring out her strength and by the end of the story I was ready to shout "you go girl." For me this was an entirely new take on the premise of soulmates it was fresh and well written and the more I read the more I became involved in the characters and their lives. I would certainly recommend this read and while I do not know if it is the beginning of a series or not, I can definitely see room for the story to continue, and I would love to see the supporting characters stories told. I am and am looking forward to more from Ashley Stoyanoff and will definitely be watching for what comes next.

The Soul's Mark: Found was a good book. Once I sat down and got comfortable I couldn't put the book down. I mean I stayed up to the wee hours of the night trying to finish it. It pulled me in from the beginning and I refused to stop reading until I got to the last page. I liked that Stoyanoff did a good job with showing and not telling. She explained in a good and detailed way how the soul mates thing worked without it coming off as info dumping.

For a short story it was pretty good. I enjoyed it to the very end. Except for the grammatical problems that there was I simply could not stop read it.
It was a little disappointing when we did not get to see more of the past lives of "Millie", I was interested enough to have enjoyed reading more of that section of her life, but wait I am getting ahead of my self. ") often do that.

Yes another vampire story, but this one is different. Way different! A young girl gets a scholarship to a college, but things just seem too good to be real. In a sense, she is right but it is nothing her wildest dreams would come up with. Reincarnated, her soulmate has found her. Problem is that he is a vampire and she might be a witch. So overall this book was a nice quick read and I absolutely enjoyed the plot. It was a rather interesting take on vampires and soul mates. Actually my favorite part was probably the plot and the fact that the whole community was made up of vampires and the town knew about it! How awesome is that? When I first signed up to review this book, I almost immediately got a reply back from the awesome person in charge over at Black Lion Book Tours (hi Rhomy!). She was very excited about this book, saying that it was one the best ones she had read all year. So, as you can probably imagine, I had pretty high expectations for The Soul's Mark: Found going in.

Shelves: favorites, my-all-time-favorites

Once I picked up this book, I could not put it down! (I read it over a course of two days, the fastest I've ever read a book of this length) I loved everything about this book and hated that it had to end. Trust me, this is not your traditional vampire novel. It's a love story of sorts with a heart-wrenching past. The supernatural aspects of this book blew my mind, I love the approach Stoyanoff took to express them! Clever and modernistic!

First off, I really loved the idea of the book. It intrigued me to no end, but sadly The Soul's Mark: FOUND didn't work for me and it's mostly due to the characters.

First off, I really loved the idea of the book. It intrigued me to no end, but sadly The Soul's Mark: FOUND didn't work for me and it's mostly due to the characters.

Like I said, I really loved the idea. I do love paranormals and with the summary given and the prologue gave me goosebumps. But when I started reading about the characters I had to stop. I had a werid vibe going and sadly the book started going downhill for me.

I love books about soulmates and with this being paranormal it should have worked for me, but I'm going to state that I had a strong dislike towards all the characters. Amelia ticked me off because she seemed pretty childish to me. I don't remember her exact words or how I would describe her but she seemed like an airhead. And she constantly wanted to know what was going on and threw a small tantrum when she was refused. I get that you should be angry that secrets are going around, but throwing a hissy fit will get you nothing.

I sort of liked Angelle, she was an okay character but due to her interaction with Amelia...whatever. Same with Eric, I thought he was cool but all of them treated Amelia like she was a porcelain doll in fear of Mitchell's rage. Didn't sit well with me.

And because they're vampires they somehow have to act older than their physical age. All the vampires (Angelle, Luke, Eric) they seemed to be in their mid-twenties (that's what I'm assuming) but they acted like parents or mid-thirties. And it's weird that Mitchell is their boss because Amelia is his soulmate, so eventually the trio would have to respect Amelia who's younger than them? Their ages and behaviours are iffy to me and therefore it added more to character disappointment.

I love the idea and the writing was pretty good too, but the characters just ruined it for me and for that I did not finish reading The Soul's Mark: FOUND . I got to maybe two-thirds before I had to stop because I didn't think it could get better at that point.(less)

Although this book left me frustrated while reading, after I finished I thought how great of a story it was. Not much happened in the first half of the book and it isn't until the halfway point that the book catches up with the blurb description. And the other downfall was that despite having 19 and 20 year old characters, the book is written like a MG. No sex scenes. PG kissing and violence. Okay, where to begin? First off, the writing was wonderful. The details were vivid and the characters were well developed. The story, although about vampires, was unique and refreshing in it's own right. I really liked the world created by Mrs. Stoyanoff and found myself deeply involved from the very beginning. Well, I loved this book! But somehow I can't find the appropiate way to review it, that's why it took me so long to post it.

Above all, it was a fun reading with an impeccable writing and unique storyline combined with perfectly constructed characters. A nice twist on soulmates, a refreshing premise with vampires and some magic. Definitely a fantastic start for a series!

The Soul's Mark is Ashley Stoyanoff's debut novel. It is a story about a girl who moves to a new town, hoping to begin a new life with the help of a scholarship at the local university. Amelia had to witness her parent's murder and it left her with some emotional scarring which she has been trying to work through in therapy. Then there are the dreams that plague her every night, about a man named Mitch.
Amelia is met at the bus station by a beautiful girl named Angelle and she is shown to her new house, which is more like a mansion. She is lavished with presents and nice food and generally treated like a queen, something she hasn't been used to since being moved around foster homes. Everything seems wonderful but her new 'family' have a secret. Amelia becomes trapped between a rock and a hard place and her freedom comes into question.

The Soul's Mark is ripe for the vampire-fiction Young Adult market and many fans of that genre will find what they're looking for here. Unfortunately this reader is not a huge vampire fan, having seen it done to death too many times but in the interest of objectivity I will pretend I am.
Stoyanoff gets off to a good start with the so-called fairy tale new life that every girl dreams of. You feel an empathy with Amelia because she has been so unfortunate in the past and she seems to be a bit of an emotional wreck. You want things to work out for her but when things get tough Amelia tends to cry a lot and stamp her feet. However, she is loyal and tends to stick things through. She is only eighteen so we'll cut her a break.

The plot was fairly solid, with some new twists and turns to the vampire lore. My favourite characters were Eric, one of Amelia's new 'family' and Tyler, a boy she meets in college. Eric was fun and seductive which was nice because Amelia's main love interest is not a very likeable character. A man that takes away a woman's free will tends to find his way into the bad books (no pun intended) very quickly. Tyler was intriguing; it would have been good to find out more about him. Perhaps in the next instalment...

I felt that the dialogue was lacking genuine emotion in places and some of the action was jumbled and hard to follow. It might have just been a case of paragraphing.
In summary, The Soul's Mark: FOUND was a decent read and might have been more engaging had I been into vampire fiction. I think this author is still finding her stride and will no doubt improve with each book she writes. I'm giving it three stars and I encourage you to pick it up, especially if you're a vampire-mad teen.

OMG! I read this in a day. I was glued! I loved this book. I thought this book was more about the relationship and emotions then about the action.

I loved the characters. The vampires were not your ordinary blood-sucking, nighttime only scary vampires. The hustle and bustle of city living can get the best of all of us so I say we all need to stop and smell the roses. Enjoy the simple things in life. That being said, what I actually get paid to do is work at Great-West Life as an Investment Coordinator.

I started writing in high school and promptly dropped it when life took over and I got a job. It’s funny how the things you love get pushed aside when pesky little things like paying the bills come up. Not long ago I took a hard look at my life and it hit me… all I do is work, work, work. So I pulled out my notebook and started writing and it was then that The Soul’s Mark was born.

I also enjoy reading. When I’m not writing or working, you can find me curled up with a good book. Give me romance and a supernatural twist and I’m sucked in until the last page.

My favorite authors are Charlaine Harris, Amanda Hocking, and Rachel Caine. I can and have read their works over and over.

I really enjoy live theater. There is just something so magical about watching a live production, without all the photo shop of the movies. Jersey Boy’s is my absolute favorite, and I love singing along to every song.

The most important thing in my life is family. My father used to tell me this all the time and when I was younger I swore he was wrong. Boys and friends were the most important thing EVER! But as I stepped into the real world I suddenly realized how truly right he was. Family will always be there, supporting and encouraging you but friends and boys come and go. On the family note, I have an older sister, Jonel, and two younger brothers, Cody and Travis. I am proud to say that my parents Jo-Anne and Nelson are definitely my heroes and I strive every day to be as truly amazing as they are.
