Did I really have such horrible taste in books back in my teen years? I’ve attempted to reread three Christopher Pike books and finished only two. One of them was pretty darn good, the other was so awful that I couldn’t finish it, and then there is this one. Gimme a Kiss falls somewhere in between the other two. I was able to finish reading it, but just barely.
It is never a good sign when you start getting characters mixed up and that is what happened to me. Which one is Jane again? More...

My mom just gave me a box of books from my teenage bedroom and, boy, am I excited to reread every Christopher Pike book I ever owned, even the terrible ones about psychic vampires and magic crystals. I remember this as being one of the better ones, since it has no witches or dead people who talk to you in dreams and happens entirely in the realistic world of teenage yacht parties where 17-year olds fake their own deaths because the whole school read their diaries. The book reads like the autho

In my defense, I read these books mostly between the ages of 11-13. It was at that time that I formed my high opinion of them. I have no other defense for myself.

For most people, high school isn’t ever quite the same as we imagine it. It certainly isn’t for Jane Retton…which is why she fakes her diary. Instead of writing about her so-so blah everyday life, Jane writes about the kind of things that she wishes happened. And it’s no big deal, because no one’s going to read her diary. At least, no one is supposed to… In a mad rush, Jane accidently brings her diary to school with her. And out of spite, someone s More...

Jane hasn't been on good terms with the promiscuous head cheerleader at Wilcox High--and especially of late, when Patty gets a hold of Jane's diary and photocopies a juicy page from it, then distributes those copies around school. I was at my cabin and saw this book. I remember when I was teenager, I was obessed with Christopher Pike books, so I decided to reread to see if my taste from the past is good or horrible. I'm glad that my taste was that good. Pike knows how to build suspense and make you curious about who is guilty person.

This book is okay despite the fact that its only 152 pages This book is about a girl named Jane Retton. She would always write her most personal thoughts in her diary and she would never let anyone read it. Until something happens. Her diary's final entry is shown to the whole school Some girls would die and others would kill. But Jane Retton, she would do both.

I would have read this sometime between 1988 and 1990...it was '88, I think. I seem to remember thinking it was okay, but a quick reskim in a bookstore last night made me think, 'Like Sweet Valley High on bad acid.' For teen agnst lovers only.

This is not one of his best books. I first read it years ago and decided to reread it to refresh my memory. The plot is not really believable and more funny than it is meant to be.

Gimme a Kiss is a book that had me confused at times, but I eventually caught up to what was going on in the book.

One of my favorite authors. Some stuff is brilliant, some is just bizarre.

Here's the thing: There are Christopher Pike books that are MUCH more excruciating to read. There are Christopher Pike books that are MUCH more far-fetched (which may seem impossible if you start with this title, as the plot twists are pretty damned unlikely). But really, you will encounter no Christopher Pike book that's as...well...as freakin STUPID as this one. I guessed the ending, but I really wish I'd been wrong, just because it's so, so dumb.
It's embarrassing, really.

I don't think I had read this one when I was younger, still, the plot twists weren't a surprise. A bit messy, really, the way things are resolved.
It seems that all the girls who seem to be too nice in Pike's books tend to be bitches. Oh well.
