When my husband and I visited the Eastern Shore, we decided to get off the beaten path and drive through the Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge in Dorchester County -- the exact topic of this book. The pictures are stunning, and I learned a lot about the fragility of marshes, the forces that are changing them, and the people who live there. The story itself, canoeing through it, wasn't that interesting. And I can't say I was a huge fan of reading about and looking at photos of trapped muskrats ...more
