It's always a good thing when you finish a book and the first thought in your head is, "More please!" I enjoyed this one better than Joust. There was political intrigue and lots of great characters. And I loved the Egyptian influences on Lackey's worldbuilding for this series. I can't wait for the next one.

While the process of raising dragons begins to be a bit repetitive, the storyline brings in some strong political intregue, a fascinating new culture and good character development for the principle characters.

This book gets more interesting and starts the beginning of the real storyline. It ends kind of abruptly though, like most of her stories.

The best part: watching the dragonets interact.
Didn't care much for Aket-ten.

quote
"The dragonets found the carpenters to be even more fascinating than the furniture, and followed the poor men from pen to pen, crowding around to watch, tasting the wooden planks, trying to steal the tools. It made for an interesting day for everyone, as the boys tried to keep the dragonets away from the carpenters, and the dragonets tried to get at the carpenters, and the carpenters worked probably a great deal faster than they ever had in their lives, sure that the dragonets would go from tasting the wood to tasting them.
