OK so when I was in high school my girlfriend was very into Danielle Steel, to the same extent that I was into Stephen King. And my girlfriend also read a few Stephen King books, so somehow she convinced me that it was "only fair" that I read a Danielle Steel novel. She recommended "Daddy" because it had a male protagonist.

What I learned from this book was that one Danielle Steel novel is enough.
This is the book that got me hooked on reading. I had never been a reader until a friend introduced me to this book. LOVED LOVED IT.

"Oliver Watson's world suddenly dissolves around him when Sarah, his wife of eighteen years, returns to Harvard to get her master's degree. Oliver is left on his own, with three children and a freedom he never wanted and doesn't completely understand. His family's needs and demands suddenly consume his life.

When Oliver's mother is diagnosed as having Alzheimer's disease and dies soon thereafter, Oliver's father's life is changed as well. Braver than his son with less of a future before hi

This was another book I picked up from the holiday bookshelf, the story was interesting and intriguing and kept me glued till the last page of the book.
The story started with a pace and it never stopped with many different plots within the main story which actually made it work perfectly well. The blurb on the back was slightly different to the overall story but it was still amazing and well worth the read.
The story about the 3 different men and dads made it a refreshing read and different to wh
This book was good but very predictable. I didn't like how the mom Sarah was a major character in the beginning and the first few chapters were from her point of view and then when she leaves the family, her character is basically gone form the book. It then picks up and has to rebuld characters again with the other family members. It was good, a great pool read but too predictable.

Relationship between a daughter and her father
Another awesome book by an awesome Author!!!

If you've missed the 1990s TV movie version or haven't read this one yet, this one is one of Danielle's earliest classic romances. In Daddy, it deals with three generations of Watson men dealing with the aches and woes of fatherhood. For Oliver Watson, his wife of eighteen years, Sarah, decided to return to Harvard to finish her Master's degree. That left him alone to raise his three children and a freedom he didn't want or understand, while their needs and commands consumed his entire life. Wh

'Daddy' turned out to be a better experience that I anticipated. Not a big fan of lifetime movies or that sort, I was pleased to find this wasn't a melodramatic story that induced eye-rolling. Instead it was a very real drama with grief, trauma, and ultimate triumph over life's obstacles. The characters helped keep things afloat; the protagonist, "Daddy", "Oliver" was a man easy to understand. Even the woman who caused everyone conflict, Sarah, was written to be sympathetic in the beginning (som ...more
Definitely an entertaining summer read. Steele makes it more engaging by making the father the primary caregiver for his children after his divorce; however, with the exception of the ex wife, the female characters tended to be one dimensional and stereotypical. Perhaps she spent a little more on giving them more dimension. Overall, considering that it is part of the light fiction genre, it was a fun read.

I didn't want to read this book. I had a pre-conceived notion that anyone who writes as many books as Ms. Steel must just grind them out in a formula -- or has a staff of 20 or so doing the writing in her name. In any case, I just wasn't interested. But this was our book club pick for this month, so I jumped in and started reading. And to my surprise, I couldn't put it down! I was hooked -- really, really hooked! There are real life issues in this story - real life sorrows and pain and drama. I ...more

I remember the Danielle Steel craze in high school, although the only one I had read then was Princess Daisy -a book I still remember to this day with fond memories, just because she has a real talent for a dramatic story and people and hard-core melodrama. Over the holidays, I found a stockpile of Danielle Steel novels so I thought I would start with this one and give it a try. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) I've grown out of that phase of life, now it's a little too much drama with peopl ...more

forced to read this for a course I'm taking. The cheesiest, most predictable, mushiest book I have ever read. For the life of me, I can't understand how it became a bestseller

This is one of those books that I really liked and then there was the movie. The movie killed it for me.
Great book about family dynamics. This boon takes you from highs and lows throughout the book.
the 2nd book of steel I read. I cried!
My Grand Aunt who is 89 passed this on to my mum who then read it and passed it on to me...I am not optimistic. I did not enjoy the last few Danielle Steele and I am convinced they kill brain cells..but because it was free and is lying around my house I may as well give it a go!

And although it won't win any literary wasn't half bad. Better than the last one I read but still a bit dragged out and predictable. Time for a break from these books despite my mother having passed on at least

Since 1981, Ms. Steel has been a permanent fixture on the New York Times hardcover and paperback bestseller lists. In 1989, she was listed in the Guinness Book of World Records for having at least one of her books on the Times bestseller list for 381 consecutive weeks. But Guinness was premature. The fact is that one or more of Ms. Steel's novels have been on the New York Times bestseller list for ...more
