My oldest really loves this book and asks to read it all the time. I have read a lot of reviews here and elsewhere bemoaning the artwork, but something about it really affects her. She wanted a copy of the St. Michael page to put up on her wall, in fact. I think it's the medieval style that makes it so haunting.

There are tellings of St. Joan's story that I prefer to read, but this remains the kid's favorite.
