Recommends it for: casual folktale readers
I enjoy reading folktales from all over the world, but have a pretty casual approach to seeking them out. If I come across a story or collection, I'll read it. But I rarely hunt down anything old or unusual. If you've habits like mine, perhaps you think, "Oh, I've read Asian folktales, there won't be anything new here." Give this a try! Yes, some were known to me, but I was surprised and pleased to find a few new tales in the bunch.

this book is a great collection of beautiful folk stories, like why dogs are man's best friend, and the relationships of the sun and moon. i really enjoy these types of tales, especially the ones as rich in history as these.
