When I first began Nearly Famous, I expected a superficial enumeration of Hollywood gossip, a novel-length copy of a newsstand tabloid. From the first sentence, I knew that my presumptions were entirely wrong. Reba begins by telling the reader how she began her journey into Hollywood, using her soon-to-be-characteristic conversational style. Her personable voice immediately welcomes you into the story, breaking down the cold wall that we tend to build between celebrities and ourselves.
