I decided to give this book a try since Amazon listed Shadows Edge as 'new and newsworthy'. I noticed righy away that the premise was awfully similar to Christine Feehan's Dark Carpathian and leopard series but hey, I was hoping to stumble across a hidden gem, a diamond among tales, the next big thing, or at least a new favorite author.
Um, yeah that didn't happen. Though not the worst floating around amazon, this book was definitely not newsworthy. The writing is average and the characters were...more

"If they ever find you ... run" is a lesson her mother had repeated to Jenna over and over again, but when 'they' - the beautiful, graceful and dangerous shape shifting Ikati - do find her, Jenna decides to ignore her urge to flee in order to finally get the answers to the questions that have haunted her for her entire life. And that decision and those answers - and the sensual enthralling Leander who knows all of Jenna's secrets - will change Jenna forever.

I really enjoyed Geissenger's debut no...more

”Life is pain and everyone dies, but true love lives forever.”

Jenna's birthday toast from her mother every year after her father disappeared was unforgettable to say the least, but unfortunately was the basis of her parents’ tragic relationship. For most of her life, Jenna has been confused by her mother's repeated warnings and lives a solitary existence because of the paranoia they brought on. As the years passed without incident, the unexplained gave her no reassurance and only a false sense...more

DNF at 60%. I'm sorry, the writing is beautiful, but Leander and Jenna are so annoying! I can't go on. I tried, I really did, but I'm weak..

I came across SHADOW’S EDGE completely by accident after trawling through some Amazon recommendations on my Kindle. Normally, these can be more miss than hit but this time I was pleasantly surprised. The plot centers on the heroine, Jenna Moore, who grew up on the run with her parents. Jenna was irrevocably marked by the sudden disappearance of her father when she was ten and the subsequent breakdown and early death of her mot...more

I Loved Shadow's Edge and I already pre-ordered Edge of Oblivion, which is saying a lot for this newly published author. I really enjoyed the overall storylines so far and the since of humor, romance and tension along with the world building and character development is great. If I had one critique it would be, the book was too short and I was finished before I wanted to be. Things were just starting to go great and then the book was over. Loved it until it ended...can’t wait for Edge of Oblivio...more

Just reading the summery of Shadow's Edge gave me a pretty good idea what to expect and enough information to know that I'd probably like it. Jenna is a strong if overly stubborn lead character with enough dept to her to be interesting but not overly unique or original. The introduction to her at the beginning of the book was interest sparking enough to get me reading further into the rest of the book, as I went on it became a bit more cliche but not so much so that I wanted to stop reading. The...more

"If they ever find you... Run!"

Poor thing, never even had a chance :). He approached her, being sexy cat and all, with the attitude "Mine!" and "I will make you want me". I mean come on!
I have to say that I really enjoyed this book. I just resently started reading urban fantasy and was having a hard time connecting to the characters. I always thought it wasn't my thing. But I really loved this one. The thing that amazed me the most was authors rich vocabulary and her ability to manipulate the wo...more

J.T. Geissinger’s Shadow’s Edge is the story of Jenna Moore who lived a very confusing childhood. She remembers that her family was always on the run as if something or someone is after them. Her mom resorted to alcohol drinking and her father always lived in fear. She never knew why her parents acted the way they did and now that her mother died and her father vanished, she finds herself alone for the first time. She fears that her father is dead and has been consumed from whatever he has been...more

I am the Review Chairperson for the Paranormal Romance Guild and I am also a member of the Amazon Vine Program. I was able to order this through the Vine program and I am so excited to tell you how wonderful I enjoyed this book.

J.T. Gessinger has started a series that I do wish to continue personally. Professionally I receive hundreds of submissions from authors with many books in the paranormal genre. This story has all the elements that are needed for a a Top Ten Book!!!!

I really, really enjoyed this story! The mythology is unique and creative, and the characters are compelling. Leander is a devoted leader and more sentimental than I would’ve guessed. Jenna is intelligent and is stronger than she first appears. All the characters have such depth, you find yourself so invested that while you’re rooting for the hero and heroine, you want to cry for some of the secondary characters knowing what kind of toll everything is taking on them too.

My only complaints are th...more

As seen on Rabidreads.ca

Although the blurb for this book is incredibly blasé, I have to emphasize that the book itself is far from it. Geissinger exhibits good taste on nearly every page of this book whether that be in smells, flavors, or sounds. She may, in fact, have given her characters heightened senses only in so far as to display this quality. This taste can stray into the sumptuous more than is good in particularly the first hundred pages, often doting over the good life of luxuriant wine...more

So I think I wanted to like this more the I did.
Having said that I really like the idea and the writing for the most part was well done.

Now for what I didn't like:

-The looooong winded descriptions- they almost did me in! ...they were mostly of the settings...the woods, different houses, an airplane, etc...paragraphs and paragraphs of descriptions!
What's more was that, there was, IMO, a lack of world building...like we learn very little about the cookie cutter bad guys...and aspects of the itar...more

The romance was really well cultivated. I normally loathe the romance scenes in Paranormal/Urban Fantasy novels. Kudos to the author for not making me cringe or roll my eyes during scenes between Jenna and Leander.

However, the novel fell short with the female lead. I found Jenna's character to be obstinate and dim-witted. When other characters in the novel did or said something that carried glaringly obvious implications Jenna rarely acknowledge its significance until she was confronted with it...more

I am always leery when an author sends me an email asking if I will review their book. I am just not always sure if it is something that will fit in with my style and I do get some very strange requests at times. However, when J.T. approached me about Shadow’s Edge I read the summary and was very intrigued. It sounded like it fit in perfectly with the genres I love to read so I agreed to review it.

I am so glad I trusted my gut with this book, because it was awesome! It is a new take on shifters...more

The cover for "Shadow's Edge" is just plain beautiful and the story is very good as well. J.T. Geissinger is a polished writer who shows a lot of style in the craftmanship of the characters, world building, plot and romance.

Jenna has lived her life on the run for the most part. Her parents trained her at a very early age that if she was going to be able to protect herself, she needed to run. However, what they did not tell her is who she had to run from. Now that her parents are gone, she only h...more
All Things Urban Fantasy
A concentrated dose of romantic fantasy and sexy threat, SHADOW’S EDGE blends an old school romance “backed into a corner” plot line into a more modern urban fantasy setting. Jenna Moore’s otherworldly gifts have always come at a price, first the breakup of her family, then a lifetime of secrecy, and finally imprisonment in a shapeshifter enclave. This give and take narrative kept me titillated and engaged and while the hero and heroine don’t hold many surprises, the supporting cast breaks a few...more

A concentrated dose of romantic fantasy and sexy threat, SHADOWS' EDGE blends a little of that old school romance pressure into a more modern urban fantasy setting. This give and take narrative kept me titillated and engaged, and while the hero and heroine don't hold many surprises, the supporting cast breaks a few molds.

For years, Jenna has been on the run. She can remember when she was a little girl and her mother told her that she was special and when "they" came for her that she should be prepared. Only Jenna did not know who "they" were.

Jenna's twenty fifth birthday is approaching. While at the grocery store, Jenna feels a strong presence. It is he, the one with the piercing eyes. He has found her. Jenna knows she should run but she is tried of running. She is making a stand. Although, it could be the wron...more

First, the plot in this book has been done before, and better.

Second, there's not much plot at all. If you take out all of the "Leander is staring at Jenna" and "Jenna admires everything about Leander", you will be left with about 30 pages. Ok, they are drawn to each other, they are both beautiful - we get it already!

About half of what remains is description of the estate (and exactly, how, in the age of aerial photography, can an expansive primeval forest in the middle of England escape being...more

The book was well developed and full of beautiful description. The author did a fantastic job creating sexual tension between the hero, Leander, and the heroine, Jenna. It was quite enjoyable to read the two of them dancing around each other.

Also, Jenna was such a strong, independent heroine used to being on her own. It was nice to read her hesitancy where the hero is concerned. Usually it's the hero fighting the attraction to the heroine, in this case, it's quite the opposite. For a change, I r...more

In the last month or so I've been seeing this book all over Amazon and Goodreads. I think I was drawn to it partially because of the cover and curiosity. I mean mostly I really liked the cover...it's pretty. So, my luck with reading books by looking at a pretty cover is hit and miss so I went into this with low expectations. I was altogether pleased by the story when it was all said and done, I mean with shifter romance book there is an air of predictability, you know there is going to be a lot...more

I tried to think of one word I could describe this book in, but I couldn't choose just one...Exciting, on edge, dark, alluring and sexy. All these describe this awesome new addition to the paranormal romance/ urban fantasy genres.

I was lucky enough to win a signed copy curtesy of the auther and Fictional Candy! I loved this, love the characters of Leander and Jenna! I did think Jenna was a little hard on Leander at times and maybe a little too stubborn and prideful but at the same time I admired her strength. They seemed to get their wires crossed and misunderstand each other alot but that was mostly Jenna's fault cause she lied to him a lot trying to cover up what she felt for him and resist him. Although he could have...more

Deep within the primeval forests of southern England, a tribe of mysterious beings lives hidden from the everyday world. Beautiful, savage, and graced with the ability to shift from human to vapor to lethal predator, the Ikati are bound together by ancient bloodlines and a code of secrecy that punishes traitors with death. Half a world away, on the sun-drenched shores of Southern California, Jenna Moore's past is shrouded in mystery. She spent her childhood in hiding, on the run from...more

I feel like I was duped by the cover and the description of this book. It should have been one of those "bodice-ripper" covers so I would have known that I was in store for some cliche paranormal romance. I couldn't finish this. I got over 2hrs in before I had to give up. I kept hoping to get my questions answered.

Jenna's 25th birthday is coming up and even thought she's a half-breed, she may shift and she has no idea what she is or why she has developed these extra abilities. Her parents are d...more

I was looking for a pnr book and this one was recommended to me by amazon. It wasn't a bad book and it also wasn't a great book. I found this very similar to Christine Feehan's Leopard People series. It had the same ideas of a sect of people living in secrecy and protecting themselves from humans, and the idea of the shifter being very savage and close to their animals. For me, it wasn't a bad thing that it was similar as I enjoyed Feehan's series, but those that didn't like it might have an iss...more

A good, solid debut. I really enjoyed the world building and a new twist on the shape shifter trope. Jenna was a good, solid heroine. I enjoyed going along w/ her and learning about her heritage and new powers. I think that the author did a great job building her world and it was very believable and absorbing. Leander was a good "alpha" hero and while he did "alpha out" a few times to Jenna, he was still a good compliment to her. But.... this book didn't blow me away. The outside conflict wa...more

Wow hands down a great read. This author writes very poetically. She has a way of elegantly and colorfully describing the scenes. She also does an excellent job of poetically describing what the characters are feeling. Here's an exert: "She had forgotten sweetness, had forgotten what it was like to be touched and held and cherished, and it opened something in her, it melted her like sunlight on snow." Wow, I couldn't help but fall in love with her writing. Her characters are written with passion...more
