“If they ever find you…run.”

Imagine your mother saying this to you every day until she died. Imagine she never explained the reasoning behind it or who they were; just ground it into your head from infancy. You’d probably be a little paranoid, wouldn’t you?

Now imagine that one day you’re standing in line at the grocery store and out of nowhere every single nerve ending in your body starts firing, all of them screaming at you to run as adrenaline floods your veins. You can feel the danger pres

I hate to DNF at the 11% mark because it feels like I didn't give the book a proper chance, but it was so clear that this was not the type of PRN romance I was looking for that going on would have been a waste of my time.

In that short 11% there were:

- An abundance of clichés. Both of the MCs were inhumanly beautiful, elegant, strong and all-around perfect. Zzz…

- Several major eye-roll worthy moments. (view spoiler)

"If they ever find you ... run" is a lesson her mother had repeated to Jenna over and over again, but when 'they' - the beautiful, graceful and dangerous shape shifting Ikati - do find her, Jenna decides to ignore her urge to flee in order to finally get the answers to the questions that have haunted her for her entire life. And that decision and those answers - and the sensual enthralling Leander who knows all of Jenna's secrets - will change Jenna forever.

I decided to give this book a try since Amazon listed Shadows Edge as 'new and newsworthy'. I noticed righy away that the premise was awfully similar to Christine Feehan's Dark Carpathian and leopard series but hey, I was hoping to stumble across a hidden gem, a diamond among tales, the next big thing, or at least a new favorite author.
Um, yeah that didn't happen. Though not the worst floating around amazon, this book was definitely not newsworthy. The writing is average and the characters were
Shadow's Edge was about a 3.5 star read for me. I enjoyed the story, but I grew a little frustrated with the main characters Jenna and Leander. Personally they did the mating dance a little too long and Jenna was exasperating in her behavior, driving Leander crazy. I had to chuckle at some of the descriptions. Since Jenna and Leander are Ikati, a type of panther shifter, they have enhanced senses. Jenna is special, she has enhanced abilities and has a very good sense of smell so she worked as a ...more

”Life is pain and everyone dies, but true love lives forever.”

Jenna's birthday toast from her mother every year after her father disappeared was unforgettable to say the least, but unfortunately was the basis of her parents’ tragic relationship. For most of her life, Jenna has been confused by her mother's repeated warnings and lives a solitary existence because of the paranoia they brought on. As the years passed without incident, the unexplained gave her no reassurance and only a false sense

For years, Jenna has been on the run. She can remember when she was a little girl and her mother told her that she was special and when "they" came for her that she should be prepared. Only Jenna did not know who "they" were.

Jenna's twenty fifth birthday is approaching. While at the grocery store, Jenna feels a strong presence. It is he, the one with the piercing eyes. He has found her. Jenna knows she should run but she is tried of running. She is making a stand. Although, it could be the wron

Overly delineative...

I tried to think of one word I could describe this book in, but I couldn't choose just one...Exciting, on edge, dark, alluring and sexy. All these describe this awesome new addition to the paranormal romance/ urban fantasy genres.
I was sent this book to review, thinking it sounded interesting, but never expected it was going to become a new favorite series of mine. I was hooked after only a few pages.

1/5; 1 star; DNF

It seems like with audio-books I find it easier to abandon a story that is not appealing to me. This started out with an interesting PNR feel but quickly became too obsessed with the sexual attraction between two fated mates and the annoying inner dialogue of a Jenna who was all over the place in terms of personality and character. I started wondering, repeatedly: 'When is this story going to go somewhere?'

I also have come to the realization that I can't listen to Justine Eyre as

DNF at 60%. I'm sorry, the writing is beautiful, but Leander and Jenna are so annoying! I can't go on. I tried, I really did, but I'm weak..

Okay where to begin with this review.... I know, the crayola box! I have never in my life read a book with with so many color descriptions. Not kidding, not exaggerating. I did a search for a few colors in my kindle iPad app.

The Color Blue got 17 results, a few for example:"bottomless azure blue". "blue and charcoal shadows", "blue eyes, pale and rhuemy", "into the silvery blue horizon".

The Color Honey/Honeyed got 18 results, a few for example: "honey bronzed skin", "thick honeyed waves", "cas
All Things Urban Fantasy
A concentrated dose of romantic fantasy and sexy threat, SHADOW’S EDGE blends an old school romance “backed into a corner” plot line into a more modern urban fantasy setting. Jenna Moore’s otherworldly gifts have always come at a price, first the breakup of her family, then a lifetime of secrecy, and finally imprisonment in a shapeshifter enclave. This give and take narrative kept me titillated and engaged and while the hero and heroine don’t hold many surprises, the supporting cast breaks a few ...more

I am always leery when an author sends me an email asking if I will review their book. I am just not always sure if it is something that will fit in with my style and I do get some very strange requests at times. However, when J.T. approached me about Shadow’s Edge I read the summary and was very intrigued. It sounded like it fit in perfectly with the genres I love to read so I agreed to review it.

I am so glad I trusted my gut with this book, because it was awesome! It is a new take on shifters

I really enjoyed reading this story. It was easy to read, exciting and suspenseful at times. I loved the romance in this book also. I give the book 5 stars because it is awesome and I definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a great paranormal read this summer.

I like the twist to the shifter angle in this story. Instead of werewolves this a panther story. Some of the stronger shifters can even shift into other things. There have been famous Ikati throughout the world history including Cleop

My English review

I confess I didn’t know what I could expect when I started this book, I was a little anxious to have the same story as the Drakon series by Shana Abé. Indeed, the two books have a lot in common. A species who can shift in creatures or vapor, a world built far from Humans, some hunters who will do everything to kill them, a young woman living out of this community they want back. Well, a lot of elements I was puzzled about. But once in the story, I confess I d

I Loved Shadow's Edge and I already pre-ordered Edge of Oblivion, which is saying a lot for this newly published author. I really enjoyed the overall storylines so far and the since of humor, romance and tension along with the world building and character development is great. If I had one critique it would be, the book was too short and I was finished before I wanted to be. Things were just starting to go great and then the book was over. Loved it until it ended...can’t wait for Edge of Oblivio ...more

This book is beautifully written. I highlighted several passages such as "A serpentine flash of premonition crawled up her spine" and "A moment passed, not long but wide and cavernous, in which neither of them spoke." Geissinger is a talented wordsmith, unfortunately, her lovely prose too often verged into the overly lyrical and purple and took me out of the story. Descriptions are lengthy and scenes are set with lots of detail. Detail I, unfortunately, scanned in order to get back to

Wow I am so impressed with this Paranormal/Fantasy world created by J.T. Gessinger. Her world of Ancient Cat people is amazing. We start with Shadows Edge the lead female character Jenna who is half human and half Ikati ancient race. Her father was a very powerful Alpha of the race, but when he fell in love and married a human; him and his family was hunted. Under Ikati law it was considered treason to marry a human. In order to save his wife and daughter Jenna he turns his self in to his people ...more

I think this would have been so much better if there had been less romance and more plot progression. And that's a shame because I really did like the writing style. The author has a way of stringing the words together into fabulous sentences. It was full of descriptive imagery. The problem was that sometimes all those lovely descriptions got so involved that I started to forget what specific event it was that lead up them in the first place. As a result, the book felt extremely slow paced and k ...more

I really enjoyed this book and I'm sorry it took me so long to read it. Shadow's Edge puts a spin on cat myths and twists that with something along the lines of the Knights Templar, only not in a good way. I was rather riveted. :)

Shadow's Edge puts a spin on cat mythology and secret societies and twists it together into something along the lines of The Unexpected One - ancient enemies created out of misunderstanding.

This is the world of the Ikati. Never heard of it? That’s because it’s a secret world, one that is isolated from the human world, and rarely touches it. It’s also one of my very favorite worlds to read about and immerse myself in. J.T. Geissinger has imagined a world where panther shifters have a secret society and live in secret bastions in different part of the world.

The cover for "Shadow's Edge" is just plain beautiful and the story is very good as well. J.T. Geissinger is a polished writer who shows a lot of style in the craftmanship of the characters, world building, plot and romance.

Jenna has lived her life on the run for the most part. Her parents trained her at a very early age that if she was going to be able to protect herself, she needed to run. However, what they did not tell her is who she had to run from. Now that her parents are gone, she only h

Shadow's Edge started with a very satisfying bang the author's début in (I thought) a UF world. Unfortunately (for me), midway it lost steam and became the usual fare of PNR: a fated couple who's love you leaves the reader cold as you wonder the hows and whys...

It seems to me that with the mated couples the authors always choose the easy way out. This plot could have really had tension and conflict (what if Leander is really like the rest of his people? What if he had a hand in her father's disa
