I bought this book in the UK before its US release and loved it! I enjoy writers who give you vivid detail putting you "right there" without wrapping you up in the mundane. Feist & Forstchen take you to another time and place and then launch you off a roller coaster of adventure. And it all makes sense.
I was very sad when this book was over, as there was no sequal at the time. I am overjoyed to find that the next couple books of the series have been released. Oh, joy of joys! ...more

Everyone absolutely raves about Feist. This is the second book I read of his, the other being Flight of the Nighthawk and I absolutely detested it. Either I am incredibly unlucky, which I'm not, or else I stumbled upon a glorified writer who's no better than a decent high school student's work.
The dialogue is extremely base and nothing short of one cliche after another. The plot contrived. You could do much better by passing this book and reaching for a Dungeon's and Dragon Forgotten R...more

This was probably the best in the Legends series. The further look into the Tsurani invaders and the excellent battle scenes and tie ins with the Dark Brotherhood, and really great characters make this one shine for me. While still an optional side read, it does a great job blending in with the rest of the world of Midkemia.

Enjoyed this one... bought it on Amazon UK and had it sent here before they were avail in the US. All three from this series (all three co-written with a different author) are available now on this side of the pond.
