Hilarious little horror novel, it definitely wasn't scary by any stretch of the imagination but it wasn't bad, either. It was entertaining and fun to read, at least.

These were written way back when for grade school children, but even so, Pike injects humor, interesting stories, and different character personalities. He doesn't rely on weak dialogue and mixes a bit of science fiction into the stories. Kids would really love these, as they should, as the stories hold originality and make you chuckle every once in awhile, especially with the selfish Sally and the deviously greedy 'Bum'.

And this was the last of the Spooksville books I could find. As usual the endings leave something to be desired since they seem to come about too easily and everything works out... but I love that they brought Bum back into the story and that they had a running battle going on with giant mechanical killer crabs.

Not a bad Spooksville, but definitely not one of the best. The ending of Attack of the Killer Crabs felt extremely rushed and failed to even tie up the conflict between the citizens of Spooksville and the Mimba. This novel could have been much better, but it was still enjoyable.

Nothing not to like about any killer-crab story. This one, geared for kids, sees the day saved by some middle schoolers in a borrowed 2-seater, kid-sized nuclear sub. Good, good times.
