I completely adored this series when I was younger. Even looking back, I feel that it hit upon some of the classic elements of vampire literature that I love so much--the origin of the Vampire, and the origins of the main character (also a vampire). Sita is a wonderful heroine--hardcore on account of her age and experience, but she hasn't let that turn her emotionally cold. The cast is just as wonderful, and I remember crying so much when I read the final book, partly because of the events and p...more

I ended up finding this book in my school library as a child, and liking vampire novels the way I did, I decided to read it.
I was a little surprised, it was awfully violent during some parts, and for some reason had a slight science fiction feel to me.
I liked the book even though it seemed like a little bit of a rough start to a series (as most people don't tend to like Sita/Alisa as a main character due to her self-absorbedness).

fans of vampires or female superheroes
Well, I love vampires, and I love female characters with super powers who kick all sorts of ass and do whatever they feel like, and this book EMBODIED those themes. I read the whole series a million times when I was a kid, but I'm pretty sure I'd still like it if I read it today. Mmm... vampires.

Since I'm into vampires lately, I found this book on my bookshelf - must have been left over from the kids - and thought I'd give it a read. The story is okay, the conversations are stilted, stiff, and not very realistic. But then, neither are vampires, I guess. Or are they?

I haven't read this book in many years, but remember being very fond of it. The story telling aspect is done very well, and offers a different kind of vampire story in comparison to Blade or Ann Rice.

I read this in high school, and it was one of my first vampire series. Excellent series. It gets a little spacey towards the end of the series, which was weird, but all and all a good read.

There was a time when I counted the days till the next release in this series. I haven't reread them since the 90s, and I fear that to do so would quickly sully the nostalgia.

I remember reading this one years ago. I was a big fan of Christopher Pike, and I especially enjoyed the books about Sita.

For some reason, I didn't really like the vampire of the title, yet I read all six books in this series...
