Love this cover!! Wow.. there were so many twists and turns and lies in this story that I couldn't wait to read what happened next. I wasn't expecting that. I was fidgety through out most of the book waiting for the point when everything would be revealed. lol

I genuinely felt bad for Rachel because not only was she deceived by the man she loved, but by her friends also. I honestly don't know how she forgave them~I'm not sure I would have been able to. Oh...Ethan...he told so many lies that I don't know how he kept it all straight and every time he got close to getting the ring back something would happen to put it further out of his reach. lol Then there was Gary...UGH...I didn't like him from the beginning and even in the end, I'm not sure that he was fully redeemed in my eyes. He was definitely a piece of work~he had me equal parts annoyed and laughing at the things he did. I cannot believe that he wasn't going to give the ring back~who does that!! lol Wow...never saw the Vanessa thing coming~shocked!! I loved Daisy ~ she was so cute.

I can almost understand why Ethan didn't tell Vanessa right away about the mix up. But if it was me and I lost something that cost over $20,000.00~I would have been out of my mind and I wouldn't have cared what condition Gary was in~I would have told Rachel the truth. lol :)

In the end, a whole lot of hurt, misunderstandings, time, money and frustration could have been avoided if everyone would have come clean and told the truth. I liked the ending but wished it was a little further into the future to be able to see how the relationships had progressed. I also wish that it hadn't taken so long for the truth to finally come out. But then the book wouldn't have been half as good as it was!!

An entertaining well written book that will have me looking for more from Melissa Hill. I so loved the concept of the mixed~up packages and the way so many lives were affected by a simple mistake. And, of course, what woman wouldn't want to receive that signature blue box under the tree for Christmas?!?! I definitely will be hoping to find one under my tree on Christmas morning!! lol ;) 3 out of 5 rating!!

Questa volta vi parlo di "Un regalo da Tiffany". Un libro scorrevole e leggero. Dalle recensioni trovate sul web e dalla presentazione stessa del libro forse l'avevo sopravvalutato perciò a fine lettura sono rimasta un pò delusa. In alcune parti del racconto credo che ci sia troppa finzione. Un voto? 3 stelline. Mi è piaciuto ma non mi ha colpito poi molto..

Se cercate un libro da leggere senza troppo impegno, magari pigramente sotto l'ombrellone, senza la fretta di dover arrivare alla fine e senza troppe aspettative allora Un regalo da Tiffany è ciò che fa per voi.
Molti hanno definito questo libro una commedia degli equivoci, io aggiungerei che è una celebrazione alla bugia. Ammetto che l'inizio è d'effetto, riesce a colpire nel segno la descrizione del meraviglioso negozio Tiffany sulla 5th Avenue di New York, in fondo quale donna non ha amato il meraviglioso film Colazione da Tiffany? Un cuore romantico viene subito rapito dalla minuziosa descrizione che viene fatta del negozio e dalla storia di Ethan e la giovane figlia Daisy che sono là per ritirare un bellissimo solitario.. Si rimane incantati, quasi rapiti immaginando il pacchettino azzurro di Tiffany con i suoi nastri bianchi, ma la magia finisce ben presto, l'attenzione di chi legge va piano piano calando e a volte ci si sente annoiati dagli eventi narrati. Per tutto il tempo ci si trova a leggere sbigottiti di un impacciato Ethan che non è capace di prendere in mano la situazione e farsi restituire un anello pagato 20 mila euro, ci si scandalizza per il comportamento quasi cinico di Gary che afferma che quando si trova qualcosa alla fine ci appartiene. Ci si domanda come sia possibile che un negozio del calibro di Tiffany non rilasci una ricevuta con garanzia per i suoi preziosi gioielli, poiché per tutto il tempo Ethan si domanda come potrebbe provare che l'anello è suo e gli è stato effettivamente rubato!
Ammetto che l'idea dei regali che vengono scambiati e l'intreccio delle vite dei protagonisti non è male, forse la Hill avrebbe potuto soffermassi di più sui singoli personaggi, di cui da si una descrizione cercando di presentarli al lettore, ma ognuno di loro resta sempre un po' in penombra. Le storie d'amore sono trattate con superficialità e il lettore si ritrova invischiato nelle bugie raccontate da Ethan, Gary e Terry, quest'ultima poi, pur avendo un ruolo determinante alla fine, resta per tutta la lettura un personaggio anonimo, quasi un contorno.
In sè il libro è scritto bene, non ci sono troppi dialoghi, ma a volte risulta un po' ridondante e ripetitivo. Personalmente avrei evitato il continuo ricordare la frase della defunta moglie di Ethan "trovati una donna che ti sappia preparare il pane".
Il finale, che probabilmente doveva esser a sorpresa, lascia il lettore un po' spiazzato: di sicuro la sorpresa c'è, ma quando si sceglie un romanzo d'amore si vorrebbe leggere di una storia d'amore, di come nasce e come si sviluppa, cosa che a quanto pare la scrittrice ha dimenticato.
Consiglierei questo libro? Beh se siete delle incredibili romantiche e state cercando qualcosa che non vi impegni molto allora si!

I picked it up on a Christmas' book sale and I have to say that after reading such a heavy book, Something from Tiffany's does have its own magic to make me feel light again! With the current state which I am in right now; my chaotic life (which I am sure what most of us are having too), this book is a good diversion from reality. I liked it as a casual read, but because of the many positive reviews I read on the web, I had slightly higher expectations, so now I'm a little disappointed. Overall the concept is interesting and the book is well-written, but I found that in the middle the action was too slow for my taste. If you expect a love story, however, you will be disappointed. A more appropriate title would be "The pursuit of a diamond ring." Nice book - nothing more, nothing less.
P.S. Do not put diamond rings in food.

Хареса ми като неангажиращо четивно, но поради твърде многото позитивни рецензии, които бях чела из мрежата, бях с леко завишени очаквания и сега съотверно съм леко разочарована. Като цяло идеята е интересна и книгата е добре написана, макар в средата действието да се забави твърде много за моя вкус. Ако очаквате любовна история обаче, ще се разочаровате. Книгата очевидно е писана с единствената мисъл за елементът на изненада накрая (затова и казвам, че в средата действието се забави – определено авторката знае как да завърти историята), затова и истинската любов буквално разцъфтява в последните две глави. По-подходящо заглавие би било „В преследване на пръстен с диамант.” Приятна книга – нищо повече, нищо по-малко.
P.S. Не слагайте годежни пръстени в храна. Сериозно.

O que começa como uma história divertida e romântica acaba por se tornar um arrastar de acontecimentos cuja resolução já podia ter sido dada e isso, apesar da escrita fácil e envolvente da autora, acaba por retirar um bocado do prazer da leitura. Até meio do livro, as situações caricatas prendem-nos a atenção e o carisma das personagens fazem-nos antever finais felizes e altares no horizonte mas a meio já só queremos que a história acabe até porque começamos a perceber que a autora vai mesmo pregar-nos uma rasteira. Um final surpreendente é bom mas um final que o leitor não antevia nem queria deixa um sabor agridoce e é isso que Melissa nos faz quando as últimas páginas começam a ser viradas a uma velocidade assustadora e a coisa começa a sair do controlo. Parece que este é um típico nos seus livros e isso faz-me pensar que é melhor não gostar muito das personagens senão não vou gostar de como tudo vai acabar.
Quanto às suas personagens têm carisma, são leves e divertidas, rodeadas de estereótipos e mereciam um livro mais curto para não perderem a piada pois o prolongamento torna os seus dramas algo irritantes. A meu ver, com um livro mais curto a autora tinha ganho mais e nós leitores também pois é a história tem um potencial imenso mas acaba por perder o romantismo e depois de um arrastar infinito de situações o fim acaba não só por saber a pouco como se dá tão rápido que mal damos por ele. É preciso encontrar um equilíbrio pois se ele existisse eu teria gostado muito mais deste livro.
Apesar de não totalmente convencida, penso ler outro livro da autora para tirar as teimas e ver se este é apenas um caso isolado. (less)

Na minha estreia com esta autora fiquei desde já encantada! Apesar de, por acaso, não ser fã de histórias que metam a Irlanda pelo meio (porque acabo sempre por nunca gostar das histórias e não por causa do país em sim), gostei deste enredo que nos leva, também, a Nova Iorque e a Londres.

Prometo Amar-te… é uma história extremamente divertida, com base numa casualidade, numa troca de embrulhos que dá origem a um complexo planeamento para devolução do presente correcto ao seu destinatário sem que nenhum coração saia partido o que, claro está, provará ser uma tarefa dificílima.

Ethan é um doce masculino, por vezes sério sofrendo pelo passado, por vezes divertido quando está com a sua filha, Daisy uma menina muito querida. Ele é enternecedor mas mostrará um lado mais duro, e ainda assim sensível, quando o seu precioso anel de noivado Tiffany’s desaparecer e, com isso, confirmar que o seu futuro tão desejado lhe está a escapar por entre os dedos.
Gary por outro lado é o típico machista egocêntrico que qualquer mulher reconhece e foge sem pudor. Qualquer mulher menos Rachel, a eterna apaixonada que sonha com o seu príncipe belo e bem montado e que fará de si a rainha de um conto de fadas, ou não!

Extremamente romântica esta narrativa está feita para conquistar corações pelos sorrisos que provoca, paralelamente à tensão que se acumula conforme se vão conhecendo os aspectos menos bons de alguns seus intervenientes, assim como as qualidades de outros que se vão revelando e aproximando do leitor com o decorrer da leitura.
Os temas centrais abordados são, inevitavelmente, o amor a amizade e os conceitos fundamentais para que estes se tornem credíveis, como a sinceridade, confiança e pureza de afectos, aqui prodigiosamente retratados. Em suma, uma leitura leve que, em momento algum, perde a intensidade e complexidade que deve ser atribuída sempre que está em jogo um coração mesmo que, neste caso em particular, este possa estar pendente de uma magnifica caixinha azul de laço brando e inesquecível.

Tenho gostado bastante desta escritora, especialmente porque cada livro lido tem superado o anterior. Com este último a escritora induz-nos em erro várias vezes, apenas para nos deixar num suspense deliciosamente romântico. Mais uma vez a escrita é fluída e cheia de graça, tornando-se refrescante ler uma história que sabemos à partida, que nos irá deixar com um sorriso no rosto.

Di solito le mie recensioni non sono negative perchè non avendo soldi da "buttare" cerco sempre di andare sul sicuro e quindi compro libri che so già che mi piaceranno. Per fortuna non ho comprato questo libro, sarebbero stati i 10€ peggio spesi della mia vita. E dire che mia suocera mi aveva avvisato quando me l'ha prestato.. Non vedo il senso di questa storia: perdi un anello da 20 mila dollari ma non te la senti di dire alla ragazza che lo ha "guarda che è mio, lo posso dimostrare". Potrebbe rimanere ferita, come potrebbe il premuroso Ethan dirle che il suo fidanzato fa orecchie da mercante alle sue richieste di avere indietro ciò che è suo.. Non sia mai! Ma la parte migliore è Gary che dice: "Non ci sono prove a sostenere che l'anello non sia mio".. Ma scherziamo!? Uno straccio di ricevuta esisterà oppure anche lì si evade il fisco?
400 pagine abbondanti per raccontare una storia che non sta in piedi; poteva essere un libro carino, bastava risolvere il problema dello scambio mentre l'investito era in ospedale e da lì far continuare il tutto, ne sarebbe uscita una storiella almeno leggibile.
Non mi sento di consigliarlo sinceramente a meno che non vogliate provare il brivido dell'azzardo, comunque ricordo che questa è la mia opinione personale, magari a voi potrebbe piacere ^^(less)

“E se a sua prenda de sonho fosse trocada?”. Esta é a frase inscrita na capa deste livro e é toda a base deste livro. Um anel de noivado adquirido numa das joalharias mais conhecidas do mundo que foi trocado durante um atropelamento. Esta é a frase inscrita na capa deste livro e é toda a base deste livro. Um anel de noivado adquirido numa das joalharias mais conhecidas do mundo que foi trocado durante um atropelamento. Este é um livro de sensações, sendo a impaciência uma delas, pois tanto queria saber o que iria acontecer de seguida, como também me queixava pelo ritmo a que tudo acontecia. Queria mais, tinha a certeza que havia algo mais por detrás de toda a história e essa certeza fazia-me sofrer. Não estou com isto a dar uma nota negativa a este livro, apenas acho que uma história tão bonita como esta poderia ter sido contada de uma forma mais breve e dando foco a outros aspectos que seriam mais pertinentes.
Quanto as personagens, desde o início que não gostei da Vanessa, achei mesmo que Ethan seria demasiado bom para ela. Não sei explicar, mas senti que havia algo nela que não me inspirava confiança e realmente tinha razão. Apesar disso acho que a personagem dela foi bem apresentada e que ia mostrando ao longo do livro aquilo que era realmente sem ser preciso estar muito atenta. O Ethan faz o papel de menino bonzinho de toda a história, o típico viúvo que tenta dar uma vida melhor à sua filha, Daisy e consequentemente tenta construir uma família para que ela cresça num ambiente estável. De outro lado temos o outro casal, Gary e Rachel. Enquanto Rachel mostra-se uma mulher trabalhadora e apaixonada pelo seu namorado, Gary mostra-se bastante imaturo e inconsequente nas sua acções, algo que acaba por irritar um pouco o leitor que quer ver Rachel feliz e com um par que mereça todo o seu amor. E finalmente, Terri e Justin que são amigos e colegas de trabalho de Rachel (Terri e Rachel são socias no bistro onde trabalham) que tudo farão para apoiar a sua amiga para que não sofra com as mentiras de Gary. Juntando todas estas características com uma ideia de romance e magia temos alguns dos condimentos desta história que fará com certeza suspirar os corações de quem o leia. Apenas posso adiantar que nada nos prepara para o desfecho desta história e com isto tenho que concordar com a crítica escrita pelo Irish Independent que diz “Melissa Hill sabe como dar a volta a uma historia…Vai adorar lê-la”(less)

This is a really romantic book. It is based around two guys Ethan and Gary. Both are on holiday in New York with their girlfriends. Ethan is with Vanessa and he is going to buy an engagement ring and propose on Christmas Day. Gary is with his girlfriend Rachel.

Ethan buys his engagement ring from Tiffanys. Gary buys a charm braclet from Tiffanys for Rachel. Gary has accident just as he comes out of Tiffanys and Ethan happens to be there when it happens and helps out.

questa è la frase che c'è scritta in copertina..e non potrei che essere d'accordo!!!

Lettura leggera, fresca, divertente che contiene delle belle storie d'amore!!!

E quale momento migliore se non leggerlo durante le festività natalizie???

Due storie (anzi più di due a dir la verità!) si intecciano in maniera del tutto causale..complice questo meraviglio anello di Tiffany che a tratti è davvero molto divertente..sembra veramente dotato di vita propria!!!!!

It took me longer than usual to read this book. I'm not saying I didn't like it; I think the story is really good, as well as the way it's written. The story line is interesting, and the characters are, in my opinion, well developed, and that was why I kept reading it. The book is very girly and a little bit predictable in some points.
I think that the plot is a little bit loose. Too many pages for a story that, I think, could be written in less. Maybe that's just me, but sometimes I was looking...more

Reading this book felt like watching a Hollywood rom-com - cosy, comfy and feel-good. It was quite dialogue-heavy and scant on descriptions and sometimes a teeny bit schmaltzy, but towards the end, the twists kept coming, which had me racing to the get to the finish and find out what happens. The hero, single dad Ethan Greene, is quite the Michael Buble-style charmer and his daughter, Daisy, is a real delight.

ok, firstly it makes me uncomfortable to give a book only one star,i almost always enjoy a book on some level - but I didnt with this one. Absolutely lovely book! Way to end my 2013 reading challenge. After Cecilia Ahern, I think I'm loving European authors more and more because of Melissa Hill.

Like all Melissa Hill's books, this is a good read. The storyline is interesting (if a little far-fetched), the setting is great (New York at Christmas time)and the characters reasonably well-developed. It moved along at a good pace and with the different points of view between various characters you were kept intrigued as to what was going to happen next. I have read Melissa Hill's previous books, and after reading the synopsis of this one, I couldn't wait to read it. I wasn't disappointed! I read it in 2 days, and kept wanting to read to find out what happened.

Melissa manages to always write stories which completely draws you in, and this was no different. I really enjoyed the story, and the characters. There were twists that I just didn't see coming, which I enjoyed - you could hear me gasping as one plot twist was revealed!

I have to be honest, the reason this book caught my eye was because of the title and because I do love that infamous "Little Blue Box". However, coming off of a book I read before this that I really enjoyed it did take awhile for me to get into this book and the characters. However once I did let's just say the last 28 chapters i read in one sitting and finished the book. I have to say that I LOVED the unexpected twists that this book had and I even got a little chocked up.
