There are few more contested phenomena in our contemporary world than Muslim women, and little more contested about Muslim women than their bodies – how they are carried, presented, covered, seen, unseen, move or not. If we believe the rhetoric of the Bushes – George and Laura – or many of the patriarchal figures who claim to speak for the women who follow the prophet we recently have gone to/are at war over the rights and dignity of Muslim women.
