What a Man! What a Man! What a Mighty Good Man!!!
I tell you just when I think Beverly Jenkins can't write a better story she does. After just finishing Indigo, I thought she totally out-did her self, but NO she just keeps coming better and better. I could not put this book down. I enjoyed Dix and Kate and the supporting characters in this story so very much. It was like watching a movie for me. The story just came alive and leapt off the pages for me to view. Dix and Katherine are such a wonderf...more

I have always shied away from westerns, especially those that had African American heroines. They seemed to always focus on slavery and escaping and less on the western part or romance. However, based on the reviews I read, I decided to give this one a chance. Wow, am I glad I did. This story was beautifully written. It involved you in the details of the characters lives, all the while giving you an eye opening lesson in history. The sex scenes in the book were just spicy enough to make you enjo...more
Readers Lend Me Your Ear and Eyes!!!!
I want to introduce you to one of my favorite authors on earth!
Mrs. Beverly Jenkins
She is an African American author who writes historical and contemporary romance novels, filled with love, lust, mystery, intrigue and for the historical romances some of the most unknown historical facts that you never learned in school.
Ever so often I find myself re-reading her books because they are that good. I just finished Indigo a few days ago and let me tell you I lov...more

This was the first book I ever read by Beverly Jenkins and still remains my favorite. Her books are not just about romance, (although they get pretty steamy in a sensuous adult kind of way), they all teach something about African-American history that the reader probably didn't know about. The character's portrayals are always on point, with strong, intelligent, and beautiful heroines, and strong, intelligent, and handsome men who appreciate and respect their women, not just for their beauty and...more
I had this book on my TBR list for so long I have forgotten who recommended it to me! Doesn't matter ... it was a good read and I'm glad I finally got my hands on it.
I thoroughly enjoyed the education I received about the Black Seminole in the late 1800's, but the bottom line is that this was a love story about an intelligent, independent woman and an incredibly handsome and honorable lawman. There were no big secrets or misunderstandings and it was a pleasure to watch the relationship develop b...more

This is my favorite book by this author. The book was just plain sexy. Dixon Wildhorse is the kind of man that lingers in your dreams. The book took unexpected twist and turns from the very beginning to the very end.
I really liked the way the author wove the Topaz stone into the story from different directions. The way that Wildhorse got his bride was unusual, but they managed to find love.

I LOVED THIS BOOK. Honestly, I did. A) because for the first time in a long time, this wasn't a romance novel in which the H and H were apart due to murder or mayhem or they pretended not to love each other even though they CLEARLY did because they didn't want to give in first until the climax in the last thirty pages occurred and then they had too because THEY CAME SO CLOSE TO LOSING EACH OTHER. Instead, they fell in love gradually, like in real life and when the time was right they told each o...more
This is my second favorite of all of Beverly Jenkins' novels. Many people shy away from historicals because they are afraid of getting a history lesson. Yes, you'll learn a little something with Beverly Jenkins novels, but you'll also be entertained with sexy, sassy characters and plots that will keep you turning the pages and upset when the novel ends.
Kate and Dix will not let you down. This novel is one you won't want to loan out for fear of it not being returned to you.
