Another title from the Heritage Summer Book Club, this 6th-grade story of self-proclaimed dork Jerry Flack's rocky road to class president is a good depiction of bullying, especially in the age of digital cameras and internet. Not as funny as it could be, but engaging enough, and not as hokey as some of the bullying stories can be. I especially liked the parallel story of Jerry's first-grade sister standing up to a bullying friend. Also interesting was the use of the concepts of aikido: using yo...more
A story of a 6th grade class president election with two candidates, Jerry (the Dork) and Gabe, the not-dork. Gabe is a bully and trickster, trying to humiliate Jerry while winning the race.

This book allow students who feel they are a dork actually relate to someone, even if it is a made up book. I really feel this might help a child's self esteem. It talks about all the famous dorks and they are people who have really succeeded. This book does make "cool kids" look bad, but most children will know that all "cool kids" are not as mean as Gabe, the antagonist in the novel.
I thought this book was pretty interesting. It really shows how means kids can be to their classmates. I learned that in order to face a bully we need to be strong with what we believe and how to deal with certain situations.
This is downright hilarious! I can't blame him, though for trying not to run for president and having a bad previous life in school.

I don't know. I've never read it before.
I liked this book because it was funny and engaging. this book is the sequel to dork in disguise where jerry who was a dork in his old school tries as hard as he can to fit in with the cool kids. In dork on the run jerry is running for president, but his archenemy, gabe marshall (the coolest kid in school) will do anything to make him look like a dork again.
so hilarious. love the adakio or whatever
I'm reading this as part of my volunteer work with In2Books. They match adults and children in a monitored e-pal relationship where they talk about books and read them together.
