Where to start with this? I picked this up because my kiddos are going nuts over it. It was featured in the spring book fair and all of my 4th and 5th grade girls were absolutely nuts about buying it. I like to know what's popular and what my kiddos are reading so I nabbed an extra copy and sat down. Usually I can fly through kid lit books. Not so much with this one. Ugh.

Salem, Oregon is home to Monster High where Rochelle Goyle, Robecca Steam, and Venus McFlytrap are new roommates in the Chamber of Gore and Lore. Although each of these teen girls is quite different, it took me awhile to differentiate among them all. The illustrations with long-maned doll-like beauties with extremely long eyelashes helped a bit, but then again, even in those, the girls looked a lot alike. The premise behind the story is that new teacher Miss Flapper has mounted a whispering camp...more
I am an adult fan of Monster High. I collect the dolls and think the webisodes are adorable. Additionally I am a fan of all things paranormal as well as an avid reader. I was somewhat disappointed when I learned that Lisi Harrison's Monster High books were no longer being written and published. I then learned that a new Monster High book series was being released written by a different author. Then I became more concerned when I learned they were being marketed to a younger age group. I was real...more
It's nice to finally see a Monster High book for the intended audience of the Monster High cartoon. This book is definitely meant for mid-grade school through young tweens. There is a little romance but only crushes with no physical relationships. The three main characters are almost indistinguishable from one another except for their set quirks (such as Robecca is always forgetful/late; Rochelle is always serious/honest; and Venus is always talking about saving the environment).

Scholastic did a great job of promoting this book for their Spring Book Fairs via their preview DVD. Gitty Daneshvari appears in Monster High get-up and does a charming job of talking about the book and the characters. She even shows off her darling bulldog as her Monster High pet of choice. As a result, the book sold out within the first day of our fair.

I finished this is about 3 hours, staying awake until early morning. I really like that this new series is following the original story from the webisodes unlike the drastically different story that is put forth in Lisi Harrison's novels. This particular novel follows 3 new additions to the Monster High universe, Venus McFlytrap, Rochelle Goyle, and Robecca Steam. I admire the detail, and the careful twisting of words (i.e. cool is now ghoul); however, this author refers to activities outside th...more
Ghoulfriends Forever is a fabulous Monster High book that is full of wit and snark to keep you smiling throughout! I simply adored the illustrations throughout the book, they are Gothic, different, and wonderfully interesting. I'm sure most people will have seen the awesome little Monster High dolls in the shops, well the illustrations are just like them. The storyline is great, full of fun, mystery, action, adventure, a hint of mystery and really great friendships. There is never a dull moment...more

I just absolutely love Monster High and this book made it so much more real for the book worm that I am ha-ha. This new series is so much more true to what Monster High is and it was so much fun seeing this world get turned into words for us fans to read.
In this book some things seem a little different from the webseries like this school is actually a boarding school. However, other than that it stays very tru...more
While I liked Lisi Harrison's Monster High series, it's really meant for tweens/teens. But it's based on a Mattel web series and dolls, obviously aimed at younger kids. This new series is cute, meant for the slightly younger group that's playing with those dolls, without putting off fans of Harrison's series. I also like that the only name-brand dropping they do is fake (for example Scarmes instead of Hermes).

read it to che, different author than the original four books. i found it frustrating, too many tangents, too repetitive. easy enough read for a nine year old, che liked it, i didn't whereas i loved the others.
Okay so there this new teacher high who is turning students into zombies (not like they aren’t already Zombies) at Monster high. So it is up to 4 friends to stop it. Now the friends are Rebbeca Steam, she is a robot like thing, who often has to let her steam out. With her friend Venus McFlytrap, she daughter of the plant monsters and has a a green thumb. Rochlle Goyle, she is the Daughter of the Gargoyles and she is completely made of stone. Finally Cy Cyclopes, he is very smart. So will they de...more

Gitty Daneshvari was born in Los Angeles to an Iranian father and an American mother. As a child she talked incessantly, feeling the need to comment on everything around her. While at first charmed by her verbose nature, her family soon tired of the constant commenting. This is how she found writing — it was better than talking since she didn't even need anyone else to do it with.
