I started writing this book sitting on an aeroplane waiting for take-off at Hartsfield Airport (as it was then known) in Atlanta GA, in the summer of 1998.
(To give you a clue how long ago that was, the first draft was written on real paper!)
I then worked on it on-and-off for more than ten years - finally finishing it in 2010.
It is heavily influenced by two of my favorite books: Behind the Scenes at the Museum and The House of the Spirits.
