This was the required reading for my Comparative Literature class. It's not particularly fun to read, and we had a lot of supplementary reading... so I am not sure if it did the best job. I thought the prose was pretty simplistic, but of course, I guess for an introductory class that's a point for the good guys. I actually like my books a little challenging.
