Beneath the Moon and Stars review

You could call this a ghost murder mystery. It had a pretty interesting concept. The first thing that comes to mind when I think of this book is creepy. Its insanely creepy and suspensful. It kept me reading because I wanted to know what was going to happen. The ending was a little abrubt so I'm curious to see where this series is going to go.

I liked Cassie. She was easy to like because she had a good personality. One thing I kept thinking was how hasn't she figu...more

For the last month I have been searching for a good YA horror novel. I'm not sure why I was craving it, but I do know that it was really hard to track something down that I really wanted to read. I pretty much gave up and then I stumbled across The Possession of Cassie Quinn. I was excited enough about the word "possession" in the title, and then I got even more excited when I saw that it was a Minnesota author pubbed by a Minnesota press.

The beginning of the book reads like a good horror movie...more

4.5 Stars:

The only word I can use to describe this book would be creepy. So very, very creepy.

When the author first contacted me asking if I'd like to review her book, I was hesitant, only because I have never really read any YA horror books. But as creepy as the cover is, it also drew me in and the synopsis sounded so intriguing. I am so glad I decided to read it. It was so.... creepy!

The book started off in a way that would be expected for a horror story, slow and with lots of build up. Ca...more

I'll admit, I haven't been accepting many author review requests recently because I'm so backed up with other books I want to read and review, but something about the plot description of The Possession of Cassie Quinn really, really appealed to me, as did the creepy cover. The cover looks like something out of a horror movie and the book fell right in line with that - as the strange happenings around Cassie's new home got more and more serious, I could easily picture this book being made into a...more

About this book you can really tell it's a ghost murder mystery. It had an very interesting concept too it.This book is really creepy to me, I was a little scared. I loved Cassie, she had a great personality and I liked that, I was wondering through the book how hasn't she figured it out, and the annoying person to me is Ashleigh, in my opinion she wasn't really important in the story. But later Ashleigh will have a bigger part in the story. The cool part is how the good ghost was against the ba...more

Ghost stories are always intriguing to me. I guess because of all the creepy, paranormal entities out there, ghosts are the most realistic to me and because of that they scare me more than any other type. This story is about Cassie Quinn and her family. They recently moved to a creepy old house in a small town and there are a lot of weird things that start happening. At first Cassie blames her new stepsister for the weird messages and things she sees, but pretty soon it becomes obvious that some...more

I have been reading a lot of YA horror stuff lately. I am normally creeped out! But lately that's all I have been wanting to read. After I read The MacKinnon Curse, I didn't think I would find any more good horror reads. But the Possession of Cassie Quinn was just what I wanted! a creepy story of a girl and her family who move to a new home surrounded by creepy woods. Strange things start happening, and the teenage girls start receiving messages from ghosts. They meet and start hanging out with...more

From the cover to the last page, this book is creepy! And that's totally a good thing. The Possession of Cassie Quinn is a story about a girl moving into a new house that has some pretty terrifying history. I loved the ghost story. It read like an episode of Are You Afraid of the Dark? and quickly sucked me into the pages.

The woods are the scariest aspect, seeming to make people hallucinate as soon as they step near them. Part-thriller, part-horror, it's definitely a book for readers who like a...more

Now I have had this review and a couple of others sitting in my old computer that sadly I can no longer get into so I had to rewrite all of them all over again and re-read some books along the way so it has been a journey ...lol so lets move on :)

Sequel? Seriously, I need the sequel! I'm sure if I look hard enough there were flaws, but Ms. Knutson created such a surprising thrill that I don't even want to try.
When I first started the book, I was in a camper, in the woods, at night, during a bad storm. It was the perfect setting to be reading this horror (light according to the author but perfect in my opinion) book. Usually I don't read "ghost" stories, but when the author asked, I thought "what the heck?! why not?!" I found myself lean...more

When the author e-mailed me about this book, I just knew I had to read it. I was looking for a good horror read, and those that I have recently read hadn't exactly been satisfying, so I'm so glad I read The Possession of Cassie Quinn (what a long title!)! I was pleasantly surprised with this book. There's so much horror and mystery, and you know me, I love horror and mystery. ;)

This book was AMAZING! I really felt like I was in the story with them. It was so intense and had so much suspense and surprise after surprise. I'm 37 years old and I was scared to sleep with my bedroom door open. I CANNOT wait until June 2013 to see what happens next!

This is a suspenseful YA read. It has a bit of creepiness to it also (just see the cover), which I love. Definitely recommended.

This book was fantastic! It never had a dull moment and kept me on the edge the entire time. I could not put the book down, it was so captivating and exciting. Right now I'm not sure what the biggest horror is though: the book or waiting for the sequel. I can't wait!
