I loved this book.
The characters, their lives and the situations they found themselves in were completely realistic. It was easy to identify with the characters and they were so well written that you could almost believe they were real.
Alyssa was a strong heroine that knew what she wanted and what she had to do to make her dreams come true. She had a traumatic past, but between her brother Brady and Marco she had some protection and positive influences.

I enjoyed this book, but it didn't flow smoothly for me. I thought the characters where a bit too cookie cutter toward the end. I did like the story. I liked Marco especially. He first needed to learn to forgive himself before he could open himself up to love. The author did a very nice job with him.
I'm going to go think on this one a bit more before finalizing a full review, but these are my first thoughts.

As much as I adored the hero and heroine, this was just an average read for me. A little predictable in parts and it didn't have quite the spark I was looking for to make this a really good read. I know there will be others that will disagree with me, but hey that's why we're all different. Enjoy!

Wow! I fell fast and hard for this one! Her Forbidden Hero by Laura Kaye is a deliciously addicting story of temptation and attraction. A temptation so intense, I found myself sitting up, clutching my kindle, beaming, and giddy with emotion. Simply put—I want a Marco of my own! :D

Alyssa Scott just graduated from college and has returned home to find a job and an apartment. The best part of returning home for Alyssa is seeing Marco again, her brother's best friend, who took care of her when she was a teenager. Marco has a lot more baggage then when she last saw him though - he's suffering from PTSD and feels responsible for the death of three of his men. Alyssa ends up getting a job alongside Marco and that's when things really heat up. Because Marco is finally seeing Aly...more

Thank you, Laura Kaye, for Marco!
I've read all of Laura Kaye's published work up to date, and I know well enough now that anything new from her I must read right away! I savored every bit of Her Forbidden Hero. Ms. Kaye shines again in creating a story with the right balance of angst, steam, and heartfelt moments, while introducing a well-developed cast of characters with a familial sense of quality.

This is my third Laura Kaye book and she never disappoints to write heart-warming stories about characters who seem to exist apart from everyone else and just want to find a place where they belong, someone they can belong to. In this story, the hero, a protector and friend finds himself in a role reversal. Once, a long time ago, he did the protecting. Now he's the one being protected by the one person he thinks he can't and shouldn't want. But being cared about never felt so good.

Laura Kaye is hit and miss with me. This one was a miss. Story moved along smoothly, but just couldn't buy it. Marco still having issues after returning from Afghanistan hasn't seen Alyssa in a few years, they see each other when she shows up to work at the bar where he works. He's all up and down, hot and cold bi-polar on her. Alyssa's been pining away in love with Marco for years, ok, believable. When they finally hook up (once and only once) they're off again, then it's will you "Marry Me" (r...more

This was my first Laura Kaye book. I have heard some great things about her, now I know why. I love her writing style. She does more than just tell a story she gives you the right amount of detail to really let it develop in your mind. I was totally consumed with this book and could not put it down.

Okay, well... I'm one of LK's biggest fans but this one is only a 4 for me. Good characters, good plot, good conflicts, good dialogue... See a running theme here? Only good not great. I wanted to know more about Alyssa's past and her in general apart from just how much she likes Marco. Besides that I enjoyed the book. I read it while getting my hair done so it did past the time. Marco is troubled from Afghanistan and suffers from PTSD. I like the satisfying ending for his PTSD because it just do...more
This is a heartwarming story that will tug at your heartstrings.
Laura Kaye does a wonderful job of portraying an injured hero returning from Afghanistan with both mental and physical problems. I felt for Marco, he has been through trauma while in the Special Forces, the guilt is eating at him and his sense of worth is suffering. Alyssa had endured a difficult childhood after the death of her mother and the abuse of her father. But the presence of her big brother Brady & his best friend Marco...more

Weak 3 stars due to lack of relationship development, cliched conflicts, and “the big misunderstanding.”
Some readers don’t mind these things, but they’re a problem for me.
Marco was in special forces. Some of his men were killed. He was wounded. He feels guilty and has post traumatic stress. He now works as a bartender. Alyssa has loved Marco for years and gets a job at the same night club.

Her Forbidden Hero by Laura Kaye did not disappoint! Upon reading the first chapter, I was completely sucked into the story and I did not put down my kindle until I was finish with it some three hours later! I really enjoyed this book. Kaye created a multi-layered story encompassing pain, loss, friendship, love and forgiveness & she did it so well! I liked the book. It's perfect for that rainy day that you just curl up in your blankets with a warm cup of tea. It was well written and I loved how the story flowed.
I really enjoyed the complexity of the characters. The way the story was built up was amazing and the relationship Alyssa and Marco had was beautifull.

I really liked this book. It has the brooding, hunky, alpha male. An independent, nurturing and hurting female. Put them together and BAM! Smokin' hotness!
Our Alpha male is Marco...

Marco has returned from Special Forces duty in Afghanistan. He was injured in the line of duty and suffered severe injuries leaving him "broken".
Our lead Female is Alyssa...

Alyssa was literally the girl next door. Her father was an abusive alcoholic. Alyssa's older brother, Brady, and Marco protected Alyssa until she...more

**kick brain into gear** OMG, simply awesome. Okay that's too short. First Laura, my hats off to you hun. Captivating doesn't even begin to do justice, and you shoved why what we're not supposed to have is all the more desirable. I started Her Forbidden Hero yesterday, no scratch that, it would have been early this morning. I made it half way through when I realized it was 430am, so I grudgingly shut off my reader and conked out for the night/morning. Appts and normal days events kept me from pi...more

Marco Vieri used to be a Special Forces soldier who was hurt in battle and is dealing with the medical discharge. How do you recover and move on to something else…when you were passionate about what you did, just can’t do it anymore??
Marco is HOT, he is a man who made sacrifices of food and sleep and blood and family so others could have those things in spades. Men who defended liberty and battled oppression by any means necessary.

I stumbled across this book by accident and how thankful am I that I did. I was downloading One Night With A Hero, not knowing that it was part of a series, so that had me reading Her Forbidden Hero first. We got to follow Alyssa Scott and Marco Vieri on their journey from the past, present and future. We also got a snippet of Alyssa's brother Brady (Soldiers, Uniform..... need I say more) but putting that to one side this was a emotional read, especially when finding out what happened to Marco...more
Another lovely story by this seriously talented writer - but then, most of you already know that, huh? :)
I first picked up this book because I also fell in love with my older brother's best friend and we are now living our own HEA. I'm a sucker for these stories :)
The emotions Ms. Kaye portrays throughout Alyssa and Marco's relationship are right on the button. From the initial powerful yearning Alyssa feels, to the, 'OMG - he's actually kissing me!' moment. Sigh... Anyway, where was I? I LOVE...more

Okay, well there was definitely a sweet story in there, but there was so much additional baggage that I just couldn't fall in love with either character. All either of them did was focus on who they USED to be; what they HAD meant to each other and after war and four years, there is no way that people could avoid change. And then in the end, it just moved WAY too fast. I mean hell, I get that they had known each other their entire lives, but it had only been a few weeks!! They didn't know the p...more

I LOVED Hearts in Darkness, and was hoping this book would have the same character development, but was a little disapointed when I finished it. It was a good read, and I liked the premise of forgiveness and that Alyssa yearned to take on Marco's pain as he had done for her growing up, but the last quarter of the book felt almost rushed.
