GOODREADS FIRST READS WIN: I am SO glad to have won this book of poetry by Melanie Henderson on Goodreads. I teach multicultural literature to high school seniors, and these poems are the type that I would love to teach. Her writing is innovative, pensive, and exemplifies "black pride."

I am usually not one for poetry but I loved this book! "Sanatorium" was my favorite poem out of the book. It was the story of a little girl in a mental facility. Amazing writing. I definitely recommend this book!
