This book had some facinating bits about child development and the various stges children go through, but it could seriously make you paranoid because with all it's focus on attachment it made me wonder how the author believes anyone who is adopted or goes through grief or a less tahn perfect upbringing goes on to become a ethical individual. Adult, child development, this book is not breaking any new ground, but did provide a nice snapshot on a couple of issues. Scanned a great deal of it as it covers 0 - 6, and we are past some of it. It's good to be reminded about what is appropriate for his age.
This is a great resource for discipline strategies and also general knowledge about child development and growth. This book helped me understand what my child is going through cognitively which helps me deal with the challenges of his age.

I thought this would help my husband understand some stages of child development. It wasn't really that helpful though. I was wanting more textbook type info in a simpler format. This was just like the forms they sometimes give you at a pediatrician's office about what you're kid should be able to do by then. Maybe I'm just remembering my child development textbook from college differently, but I really didn't think this book was that great.
Extremely helpful book for quick reviews of specific topics/concerns, but has a nice overall theme, so you can read through it or skip to your area of need.
