Yes, I'm giving 4 stars to a book that is already 20 years old and is on the history of the City of Winnipeg Parks and Recreation Department. I'm sure this book has a limited audience, but for anyone interested in the history of parks and urban planning or Winnipeg, this is a great read. Quite frankly, I was expecting it to be dry and a bit dull (read it as part of my thesis research so was prepared to slog through it) but Catherine Macdonald has done a fantastic job of bringing the city's ...more

Catherine Macdonald worked as an archivist and completed an M.A. in western Canadian history, then opened a consulting business to market her historical skills.
