I have had such fun with this series by Candis Terry. The three Silverthorne siblings couldn’t wait to get out of Deer Lick, Montana and away from the Sugar Shack, their parents’ livelihood. But when their mother passes away, the ball starts rolling, making them dodge life in a way that brings them all home.

With her perfect no-loss record as a prosecutor now bungled, Kelly Silverthorne heads home to lick her wounds and pep talk herself into getting back into the courtroom. She’s sick at heart sh...more

After reading the blurb of Somebody Like You, I knew immediately that this was my kind of book because after all, who doesn't like romance (except for guys - they don't count)? This is the first book I've read that's by Candis Terry and it was pretty much what I expected.

Kelly Silverthorne has a record of success. She has never lost a case, at least, not until the one in the beginning of this story. Due to lack of evidence (the body), Kelly loses one of the most important cases ever because of...more

Kelly Silverthorne just lost one of her biggest cases. To date it's the only case she's ever lost. Going in, she'd been so confident she could put the bad guy behind bars and once again make the streets of Chicago a little safer for all. However, her super powers for winning cases, had finally met their match and Kelly now felt the guilt of that loss. She'd done her best, but she couldn't help thinking she should have somehow done better. In her defense, it's very hard to convict someone of murd...more

SOMEBODY LIKE YOU by Candis Terry is a touching, sweet story that I was easily able to relate to on many levels. I fell for James Harley as hard as Kelly did and found myself easily stepping into Kelly's shoes. I enjoyed the previous Sugar Shack romances but I think this one is the best yet. I found myself cheering for James every time he brought Kelly closer to recognizing her true self even while I found myself wanting to give James a hug when he felt he wasn't worthy and a kick in the butt wh...more

A Charming and Satisfying Delight

Home is where you go when you don't have anywhere else to lick your wounds. Chicago prosecutor Kelly Silverthorne is back in her hometown of Deer Lick, Montana. After failing to successfully prosecute a man for murdering his wife, Kelly is rocked by feelings of failure and guilt, feelings unfamiliar to a serious, intent woman who has never failed at anything before. Taking a sabbatical from her life, she's helping her father and sister at the famil...more

This is the third book in the wonderful Sugar Shack series by Candis Terry, an Idaho author who is finishing up this series and recently signed a new deal with Avon for another series that will also come out in paperback.

Kelly Silverthorne has come home to heal. The murder trial she had put her heart and soul in came back with a not guilty verdict and it has hit her hard. This was the first trial she has ever lost and the fact that she knows the man is guilty is even worse. So she is sitting in...more

The last Silverthorne sibling has come back home. Kelly lost a high profile case, her first as a prosecutor and it’s really hit her confidence hard and made her question if she really loves what she’s doing and if not, why is she still there? She comes home for her brother’s wedding and starts reconnecting with family and friends. Most notably, she runs into James, a deputy that she had a sexy, hot night with at her sister’s wedding mont...more

This short and sweet read at 18 chapters is what I needed to keep me occupied on a slow day. And I liked that CTerry wrote the story in alternating POV's, I like books where we're let inside the guy's head and made privy to their dirty thoughts and filtered reactions. And for Sugar Shack fans, I think you'll love this because Kate and Dean made appearances and I'm pretty sure you'll be loving Kate's mini story line in this one. Plus looking at the ending it seems like we'...more

This is the last book in the Sugar Shack Trilogy and it saves the straightest laced sibling for last. I suggest that you try to read the first two books to understand a little better, what you will encounter in this one. It is not imperative, but it will make things a little easier on you.

When Kelly Silverthorne comes back to Deer Lick for her brother’s wedding, and to recover from her first loss ever in the Prosecutors office and the first thing she encounters is the reminder that she went a...more

My review cross-posted from Joyfully Reviewed: http://www.joyfullyreviewed.com/new-r...

Chicago prosecutor Kelly Silverthorne has always been called “Sister Serious” by her family, but she doesn’t let it bother her. Then she loses her first case ever and decides to return to her hometown to lick her wounds…and maybe even take a chance to let go of “Sister Serious.” And what better way is there to let go than to take up with Deputy James Harley, the man she had a one-night stand with at her sister...more

I've only read one other story but her and it was a very short one so I really hadn't gotten a feel for her writing. So when as part of my Avon Addicts books I was asked to read it and review it I was hesitant for the main reason is I hate starting series in the middle. But being a trooper I picked it up and read it. I'm so happy that I did. It was one of the best books I've read in a while. Avon Publishing has some outstanding authors right now. I feel in love with both Terry's writing and her...more

Oh, to be back in Deer Lick, Montana, where the grass is green, the Sugar Shack is always serving up something sweet and the men in the Sheriffs Department are Smokin Hot!

This is the first I have read from Candis Terry and have to say I loved it. Now I have to get the other two books from the Sugar Shack series. The whole mother still interfering in her children's lives was great. The story line was so funny, romantic and just outright awesome. This is definitely a book that would keep and an author to keep up to date.

I didn't like this one as much as the last. For me, the emotional upheaval didn't quite ring true and I felt the plot line with the brother was rather hastily done and thus the payoff at the end wasn't as satisfying.

What a fabulous end to this series. I love Kelly, and even though I loved all the Silverthorne siblings and their stories, I think this one was my favorite. I will admit to tears in a couple places, and I completely ignored everything I was supposed to do to read this book instead.

Third in the Sugar Shack series, this is Kelly's story. Her siblings, Dean and Kate have all found happiness back home in Deer Lick. And so does she, with James Harley, Deputy. As romances go, it's a good read, the characters are likable, love scenes are hot, and the male protagonist has his angst to get over, with Kelly the one to help him do it.

Fun, fast, and worth a look.
