Noah Hartman has it all, or so it seems. Since childhood, he has been groomed to inherit his family's great wealth and business empire. However, the effect of living the life set down for him by two controlling parents has caused Noah to lose touch with his inner self. Enter Robin, who -- in direct contrast to Noah -- is a vivacious, free spirit with no material

"SAND DOLLAR is one of those rare books that makes you feel, laugh and cry all at the same time. This smashing debut by Sebastian Cole reads like the best of Nicholas Sparks with just enough schmaltz. Moving and emotive, it's every bit THE NOTEBOOK done up for summer." – Jon Land, bestselling author of STRONG AT THE BREAK

“SAND DOLLAR is a strong pick for general fiction and romance collections, highly recommended.” – Midwest Book Review

When you go to Sebastian Cole’s website (, you see this quote, “Looking for the next great love story? Well, you’ve found it!” This is definitely true.

There are very few books which will touch the very depths of your soul. This is truly one of those books.

Sand Dollar: A Story of Undying Love is a novel of love, loss, second chances, and redemption. It will make you angry. It will make you cry.

Sand Dollar is the story of Noah
Interesting story, I loved the RI imagery! I found myself anxious to see what would happen next. This author shared his experience becoming an author with my daughter's class, which was inspiring. I would love to see the movie someday!

Pronto.

* Personagem masculina principal completamente irrealista
Sebastian Cole has written an outstanding debut novel. For those of us who have loved, been disappointed and heartbroken along the way and perhaps let someone we love down will find so very much to relate to in this novel. The characters grip you from the very start. The love story of Robin and Noah is realistic in every single way as along with joy comes heartache. I think Mr. Cole has the capacity to write eloquently what we often feel but cannot adequately express. He brings into the storylin ...more

A minha opinião

I was given this book at a book club meeting by a very nice lady who won it and already had read it. I consider it great luck that I was the recipient of this novel. It is a lovely story of soul mates who must repeatedly find their way back to each other. There are times in the story when you dislike Robin, the female lead, but when you learn of issues she has you become sympathetic to her and root for true love to prevail. It is both heartwarming and sad at the same time. It is a timeless love ...more

What an exquisitely romantic story! Utterly heart-wrenching in its tragedy, absolutely gratifying in its resolution. Far from being a mellow romance novel, the author deepened and enriched the shadows of widely exploited tropes (lost love and second chances) with more introspective and dramatic tones, tragic elements and a mind-blowing ending. Although frequently referred to as a romantic fantasy, I wouldn't say that Co
I’m trying to remember if there was another book like Sand Dollar that I read and as soon as I was done with it [I'm talking mere seconds after] that I just wanted to shout to the world and beg people to get it ASAP… come to think of it, it probably happened on one or two occasions, but right now I don’t have the time to ponder when or which book it was, BUT I do have the time to tell you why I think you should find the time to read this story.

First, let me start with how I came across it. The

What an emotional roller coaster of a read! Thank you to Goodreads and to Sebastian Cole (author of Sand Dollar) for this amazing read.

I need to start off this review by echoing what some others have said: when this book came in the mail, I was pleasantly surprised at the care in the packaging. The cover of the book is gorgeous, but Mr. Cole also inclosed a bookmark and a couple of cards both the same as the cover of the book. I appreciated the sentiment and will remember it.

I first wish to thank Mr. Cole for the opportunity to read this book. I feel privileged to even have the honor of sharing my thoughts on such a fantastic and masterful creation. I will not do what I normally do which is re-summarize the entire story, no...this is a story that you must read yourself. Then and only then will you have the incredible journey that Mr. Cole takes the reader on. I really do not have enough words in my arsenal to say how lovely, heart wrenchingly beautiful this book was ...more

Sand Dollar is a love story reminiscent of "The Notebook", as the author confesses, but still remains uniquely its own story. I won't bother with a lengthy synopsis as other readers have done a fantastic job summarizing it.

There were several things I really enjoyed about this book, most important of which, I think, is that the story always felt "real", and never forced. I also loved how the author chose to go back-and-forth between the past and the present, revealing layers of the story as they

I'm sorry I took forever to read this book. First there was the book I was reading one month ago. Then, I had to do my book report for English. Next there were some blog tour books I gotta catch up too. But now, I have finished it! ;) And it was a great read.

But either way, first off, I would like to thank the author, Sebastian Cole for giving me a chance to read this wonderful book. Thank you so much!

I love the title Sand Dollar. I don't know, there's something with me and sand dollars. ;) I've

“Romance, Remembrances and Revelations”

Sebastian Cole certainly has poured his heart and soul into this, his first title. We are introduced to hard-working but lonely, Noah Hartman, who has everything he could ever desire and then some—with the exception of a soulmate. He’s sure she’s out there somewhere and, in desperation, even resorts to online dating sites to find the girl of his dreams. After he suffers several disappointments, and has all but given up his quest, he accepts his Brother’s in

This book is a captivating and mesmerizing read! I received it in the mail this afternoon and read it straight through without stopping!
I will tell you up front that I took off a star because of two main issues; the first and biggest for me was the cursing and yelling at God. I am a Christian and I can't stand when someone (no matter how bad things are) yells, screams and cusses at God. Yes he suffered some consequences (I won't give away the book) but it made me cringe). Also there was sooo ver

Noah Hartman has reached the end of his long and eventful life, and wants to tell the story of his undying love to someone. As he lies in his hospital bed, he recounts the path his life took, the ups as well as the downs, to an attentive orderly, Josh Numen. The story he tells is one of love lost, found and lost again. When he finally decides to move on with someone else, his true love returns. There are secrets she had kept from him,

The Sand Dollar was compared to The Notebook in a review and that was enough for me to want to read this inspiring novel. I would say that yes, it is a love story that touched my heart and frustrated me as well. At the end of the book I thought of the Shack and that are also similarities to that novel as well. Noah, only wanted Robin, she was his true soul mate, the other half that completed him in every way and when life was not kind to them Noah felt that God had abandoned him. As children of ...more

I was so very disappointed in Sand Dollar: A Story of Undying Love. To me, it seemed like the author took Nicholas Sparks' "The Notebook" and changed a few of the details and ran with it. The main character's name was even Noah!!!

The storyline was sweet, but the characters felt totally flat. The entire plot was predictable, boring, and exhausting. I've never read a novel in which the hero was a codependent wuss and the heroine was a mental case. Much of the novel just didn't make sense and didn'
"Sinceramente o que gostei mais foi a descoberta da patologia da Robin que foi algo que eu nunca tinha ouvido falar e é um pouco assustador ver como uma doença consegue realmente estragar a vida de uma pessoa e de todas as que lhe rodeiam. Não achei o romance nada de especial e não gostei da forma como a história é contada, através de memórias (tal como outro certo livro!). Tirando estes factores todos, acho que a obra de Sebastian Cole tinha potencial para mais, só precisava de se afastar da su ...more
Congratulations Mr. Cole! Your debut novel, SAND DOLLAR: A STORY OF UNDYING LOVE, is a winner. And I'm a winner too! I won this book as a Firstreads Giveaway. If there were more than five stars for rating, this book would deserve it hands down. Such a beautiful, endearing love story. Hard to believe that this was a first time novel for Sebastian Cole, I can not wait until he writes another. Do yourself a favor and read this for sure. The ultimate love story with a twist. I liked the plot if the story but all the bouncing around sometimes left me confused. Especially toward the end when I felt there was a major jump and a lot if the story that could have been told was left out. Despite that fact it was a classic love story that gave me that feel good fairy tale romance could be real feeling
I really thought this book would just be a schmaltzy romance good to read on the plane heading home. What a surprise this romantic fantasy was! The theme was the dream of your long lost love returning - with all of the joys and heartaches, but most of all faith. I really couldn't put it down. And the added author comments and book club discussion points at the end just added to the story.

Sand Dollar: A Story of Undying Love will take you on an emotional roller coaster from start to finish. It is a heartbreaking love story that will stay with you even after you put it down. This is one of my favorite quotes from the book: “With peaks of joy and valleys of heartache, life is a roller coaster ride, the rise and fall of which defines our journey. It is both scary and exciting at the same time.” It sums up the book perfectly. If you are a fan of The Notebook, then this is the book fo ...more

Sebastian Cole never intended on being a writer. He graduated from Brown University in the 80s, then worked briefly in New York before returning to Rhode Island to work in his family's business. Nineteen years later, he took a leap of faith and left the company to pursue his dreams, which has led him to where he is now: a novelist of romantic fiction. Cole writes from the heart, believing in true ...more

“Perhaps you know someone whose heart clutches onto the bittersweet memory of the one who got away. Someone who secretly bears the weight of this imperceptible burden wherever he or she goes, every day of his or her life. Someone who’d gladly travel back in a time machine to a day when paths diverged, to mend together that which has been torn apart, setting destiny back on its rightful track — if only he or she could. Perhaps you know this someone better than you think. And should this someone happen to be you, may you find strength and support in the millions of others who shoulder this burden with you, and may you be reintroduced one day to true love… in this lifetime and whatever comes after.” 24 likes
