SIGHHHH!!!! WOW!!! What an INCREDIBLE ending to the first SERENDIPITY trilogy.

KARAMA is Dare Barron and Liza McKnight's story. Dare is the happy go lucky brother, always has a smile on his face and always out to help others, no one realized the guilt, sadness and regret that his devastatingly handsome smile hides. Dare felt partly responsible for the death of a classmate at a party when he was a teenager, a death caused by. Brian McKnight, the brothe...more

Karma is a pithy contemporary adult romance. It is the 3rd book in the Serendipity series and explores Dare Barron's dark past with the brother of his teenage crush. Dare is a cop. Liza McKnight is the woman he can't get out from under his skin. She is regularly at the police station bailing out her troubled, drunken, no good brother. Liza's enabling of her brother only seems to incense Dare and make him more hostile toward her when she is around.

Liza is exhausted rescuing her troubled brother,...more

4.5 stars actually for this bittersweet swan song.

This swan song to the Barron Brothers was definitely bittersweet and a very strong entry wrapping the series. It’s Dare’s turn to flex, and flex he does as a knight in shining armor, ever ready to save his chosen damsel in distress. I really enjoyed the chemistry between Dare & Liza who actually seemed perfect for each other. While the brothers and their wives played secondary roles this time out, their appearances reminded me fondly of thei...more

Excellent conclusion to the trilogy. Dare's teenage crush on Liza has never gone away. But the only time they see each other is when she's bailing out her brother and Dare is giving her a hard time about it. His friends have told him that until she sees him as something other than a cop, that's all it will be. Suddenly he's running into her all over town and discovers that the attraction he feels is reciprocated. They give in to their passions and begin a relationship, but it has some major prob...more

Phillips ends her Serendipity trilogy with Dare, the youngest and most open of the Barron brothers. Or so we thought. The truth is, Dare has been harboring a lot of pain and guilt over the death of a teen at a party he attended as a teen. He didn't have anything to do with the teen dying, but he didn't do anything to help or to stop the parents of the mid responsible for creating a cover-up.

Dare has been attracted to Liza for a ling time. Unfortunately it was her brother who caused the boy's dea...more

I won this book in a giveaway from one my book blogs, Bookpushers. I had never read a Carly Phillips book before, but they are so popular, I figured I would try one. But I hated it. HATED IT

This book had very cookie cutter, one dimensional characters. I thought the treatment matter of some very serious issues, like alcohol addiction, gambling with threatening leg-breakers as a result of gambling debts, enabling behavior, and parental neglect were treated very superficially and in a tr...more

I feel that this book is the most emotional in this series.

Both Dare and Liza had a lot of baggage making their relationship not an easy one. But I loved reading how they worked through their issues and came together. It was also sad reading how Liza grew up, the things she longed for, the woman she is. I'm glad that Dare was perfect for her.

It was also sweet reading how Faith and Liza clicked again despite not keeping contact over the years. It was also sweet that Kelly and Liza became close to...more

Oh Barron brothers, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways: Serendipity, Destiny, and now Karma! Carly Phillips is a really entertaining and wonderfully prolific contemporary romance author. This is good news because once you’re done with the Serendipity series you’ll really want to read earlier works from her (if you haven’t already glommed through everything). She does a very good job of writing entertaining, endearing, and sexy characters. A great example of this would be Dare Barron, from...more

Last book in the Serendipity: Barron Brothers' Trilogy.

And mannnnn! I am so going to miss them! I can just hope they show up in the further books. Yup, seen in the back that Phillips is not done with Serendipity! Which makes me incredibly happy.

Until, that is, that Tess is old enough for her own book!!! One can hope!

Dare - He was the easiest brother to really like in the Barron Brothers. He was also the first out of Nash and him to come around to Ethan. But he had his own skeletons that haun...more

Dare Barron, officer of the law and youngest of the three Barron brothers, has had a crush on Liza McKnight since high school, long before the fateful party that changed his life forever. He wants her badly, despite the fact that she continues to enable her loser brother's criminal behavior by bailing him out of jail every time he gets in trouble. Dare finally realizes that he's never going to have a chance with her if he kee...more

These two have baggage with a capital "B". I loved the chemistry between them, and watching them argue was almost as much fun as watching the makeup sessions. I enjoyed getting to see the past couples and of course Tess. It has been awesome to see this family evolve over that past 3 books not only with their romantic relationships but with each other and their new sister. Karma was a wonderful wrap up of the family, with lots of new additions and healing coming full circle. My only complaint was...more

The latest in the Serendipity series, this book features the difficult relationship between the last of the Barron brothers, Dare, and Liza McKnight. Dare has had issues with Liza's brother since they were teenagers but has also had a crush on Liza since then. When Liza begins to receive threats, Dare, a local police officer, volunteers himself to be her protector. But, family and town issues threaten to destroy any relationship they try to build. This is a good way to end the Barron brothers pa...more

Dare has had a crush on Liza since high school. Help from his coworker encourages Dare to ask Liza out. Liza and Dare are both dealing with rocky family histories. Dare grew up in foster care estranged from his two brothers, Ethan and Nash. Liza was always second best and ignored by her parents. Her brother has been dealing with the death of a HS classmate and has escaped into a world of alcoholism. Liza has continuously bailed him out much to police officer Dare's consternation.

Lots of sparks b...more

The final book in the Barron brother series was the most emotionally satisfying of the 3. The pairing with Liza happened faster than the other 2 brother's stories, and the ending tied them all up nicely. I highly recommend this series, especially if you are a Carly Phillips fan. And it looks like there is another Serendipity series coming up with Cara, Sam and maybe others, so we should continue to get glimpses of the brothers and their families. The deep seated guilt that the 3 main characters...more

One more time Carly hits it out of the park with this one. She did not disappoint me at all with the story line. Dare was such such finely woven character with yet such an easy going persona that you would not think that he had such skeletons hiding within. The he woman he has had a crush on since hef was a boy becomes a part of his current reality when she is threatened & him being a cop volunteers for the job of protector. Things start to sizzle real fast but trust for Lisa is an issue giv...more

I will start by saying that I did like the book, but in my mind there were certain points that I think would never work. For example, in the heat of the moment, Dare says some things to Lisa that I think were completely uncalled for and I even think they might have not been forgiveable. I know that people are supposed to be the bigger person, but the things he said were way out of line, and I don't know if in real life, that would have been so easily forgiven, even if she was in love with him. I...more

This is the last Serendipity book by Carly Phillips. It's about the younger Barron brother, Dare. In Nash's book, we find out that Dare had kept a huge secret from Nash and we find out what that secret was. In this book, we see the background to all of that and where Dare's head has been about the secret then and now.

Dare attended a party when he was younger and a kid died at that party. Instead of staying behind and helping the kid or calling 9-1-1, young Dare fled the scene with his friends. T...more

So it's official, Dare is my favorite Barron brother. He always seemed like the most carefree of the three and then in the last book we find out something a bit dark in his past that has haunted him and has influenced the man he's become and the things he's had to experience and endure. Guilt for things he really had no control over has been eating at him. And in a roundabout way, the girl that he's always had a crush on is at the center of that. That wo...more

I’ve been a fan of Carly Phillips for a long time, and whenever she writes books set in small towns, I know that I will be in for a fabulous read. The Serendipity series is no exception, and the third Barron brother book was just as good as the first two.

Dare is the youngest Barron brother and one of the local police officers in Serendipity. Dare has had a longtime crush on Liza, but he only gets to see her when she comes to...more

Dare is the youngest of the Barron brothers and I think his book has been the most anticipated. We learned some of Dare's secrets in the previous book that shed some light on the younger Barron. Dare isn't the carefree brother that everyone thinks he is. He has been living with secrets and a guilt that he has been unable to shake.

I didn't know what to expect when I started reading Karma. I knew that we would learn more about Dare and his feelings about being at the party the night Stuart Rossman...more

This was book 3 in the Serendipity series and it didn't disappoint. Although largely Liza and Dare's story it included all the characters we've gotten to know in the previous books and they were an elemental part of the story. There was laughter, tears, romance, love, family, friends, angst and so much more. I was happy to read at the back of the book that the series will continue next year with a new trilogy - can't wait. YAY!

Beautiful story! I didnt expect that Dare was going to be complicated. The story started light hearted and i loved how the story turned more serious and focused on tackling Dare and Liz's past and dealing with Brian, which i thought was handled pretty well.

There were some parts of the story that was jarring esp during Dare and Liz fighting about her enabling her brother. I can understand Dare's frustration but also relate to Liz's situation of wanting to help his brother. Im actually looking fo...more

Fabulous, fabulous read in the Serendipity trilogy. Wraps up the initial arc of the Barron brothers with youngest brother, Dare's story.

In this book, Dare, the cop, deals with emotional issues that arose since a fateful night when he went to a party and a fellow student died. At that time, Dare did nothing and that has haunted him ever since. He's also carried a hatred for the rich kid who hosted the party, Brian McKnight, who has done nothing but allowed his life to spiral out of control throug...more

Well you know that in this series PHillips was going to have the 3rd Barron's brother get the girl of his youth that he always wanted. While the drama was alittle bit more than what I expected and not something that seemed realistic to me, it was a good read. All those Barron's brothers sound like great, gorgeous men. Wish I could find one like them.

I LOVE THIS BOOK. USUALLY BY THE TIME YOU GET TO THE THIRD BOOK IN A SERIES THERE IS A LOT OF REPEATING. BUT CARLY DID A GREAT JOB OF REMINDING YOU OF THINGS THAT HAPPENED IN THE PAST BOOKS BUT NOT OVER KILLING IT. THE STORY LINE WAS GREAT. THIS IS A GREAT READ IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR ROMANCE WITH OUT ALOT OF SEX IN IT.

A good end to this trilogy. I liked this one better than the second one- Dare is probably the most likeable of the three brothers. There were more obstacles for this relationship to happen than the other two, and it was nice to see the resolution come about. Enjoyable read.
Eileen
I like the conclusion of Dare's story with Liza. he had the harder road to travel to get to his HEA because he had so much anger and guilt over Stuart's death. It was a good ending for the 3 Barron brothers. I'm looking forward to the next trilogy of stories next year.
