We love the whole idea behind this story and were really excited to read it. We hate to start a review with negative comments but we think we should get it over with so we can focus on the positive right after. We hate to judge a book on the grammar unless it effects the story. It was so hard to get into this book because we kept finding mistakes and over used words. For example the word “as.” We all agreed that after a while we began to count how many times the author used the word “as” instead...more

This is definitely the stereotypical teen romance novel and that would be the reason why i loved it so much. It was not only a quick and easy read but was a cute story about the love between the captin of the football team, (go figure!), and the schools new exchange student. Although the concept of the romance between these two was an excellent idea, it was not fully developed, or more so the main characters romance developed way too fast. It developed so fast that it made the story seem even mo...more

'You never forget your first love, even if you don’t end up with them. This tale will remind you of your story'

The preface of the book seems to say it all. Honestly, stories about First Love fascinate me. I always feel happy and giddy thinking that they fall in love for the very first time and hopefully they will all end up well, though some twists and turns are always bound to happen. They said that first love will always be memorable, personally, I don’t really know. I may have loved certain...more

First Love was definitely a book that I really wanted to be good...but it fell short for me. I thought the book started off not too bad, but it almost felt like the entire story was in Fast Forward mode. I kind of felt as though so many things were being skipped over...and it kind of left me wondering and wanting. I'm a sucker for the details and I love a book that I can immerse myself in and really become a part of the lives of the characters. Unfortunately this wasn't one of those books. I tho...more

I really liked this book but the story just moved a little to fast... one second she is walking into school and then the next she has a whole group of friends and a boyfriend. Like someone else said in there review that i read there was no getting to know you part., yea it said at dinner they talked about themselves and stuff but when I read a book I want to get to know the character MYSELF, not just know where she came from and why she moved. I also like it when the book is longer.. it was act...more

A teenage girl decides to leave the parent she lives with when they remarry. She leaves her warm state to live in a colder one. Immediately she is the center of attention and people are clamoring to be her friend. She has plenty of new friends, but she longs to meet a handsome boy who has no interest in dating any other girl in the school...until her.
At first this book reads just like Twilight, minus the vampires. As it goes along though, it does develop its own twists and turns and at the end,...more

I cried. I'll admit it. I felt like I was actually in Emily's place and I could understand her. The only downside was I felt the author rush the story line. I kind of felt in the beginning there wasn't as much detail as there could be. But I read this book within 2 hours; I just could not put it down! First Love was the first book of Melissa Johns that I have read and over all it was a fantastic read! I was looking forward to reading the rest of tthe series, but after reading the summaries, I ca...more

What in the world....?
This book needed A LOT of editing before publication. I spotted so many errors that the actual story began to fly over my head.
I was also not a fan of the over-description of the main character's swooning and sighing when she saw the guy, and it made me wonder whether a book can be "too romantic that it's unbelievable".
I eventually lost interest.
Could authors please stop capitalizing the first letter of terms of endearment like they're nouns? Unless "Baby" and "Gorgeous" is...more

Overall it was okay. A lot was glazed over and summarized as months and weeks were skipped. I didn't like that and would have rathered many moreof the scenes to go into greater detail. The ending chapters, however, went into appropriate detail, in my opinion. All in all though it wasn't that special of a story to me, and the writing style reminded me of fanfiction. Despite this though I do plan on reading the sequel to at least get a conclusive ending.

First Love...everybody has one. My first love I will always remember. Melissa Johns captured first love perfectly.

Eric and Emily took me on an adventure. I love their relationship together. It's passionate and heart-felt. their were a good bit of grammatical errors in this book but other than that the book is great. it's very cute and perfect for a cold day. Short read but definitely worthy of your time.

I want to say good things about this book, but I just can't. The story advanced too quickly. It wasn't realistic at all. I grew tired of all the baby, handsome, gorgeous, etc. nicknames. The writing was inconsistent and full of errors and sentences with horrible syntax.

To summarize: don't waste your time. I can name at least ten books about first love that are far superior.

Such great potential, but fell flat. The first few pages were good and I was starting to get into the plot and story line, but then it got jumpy and it was all too rushed. I honestly wouldn't be able to tell you much about the characters other than the basis of the story, which turned out to be cliche. By the last 10 pages or so I was highly annoyed and very perturbed. Would I recommend? No.

The whole novel was a bit rushed. I felt like the author wanted to share their story really fast and din't allow both main characters and us t get to know them. It all made the noel a bit unrealistic. I think that if it had been longer, it would've been better because the author would've described things more.
The storyline was pretty good though.

It was okay (as evidence of the three stars). Something about the story kept me reading it. However, I was not a fan of the dialogue. It was too....proper? Full sentences. It doesn't seem believable that teens would talk this way. Fortunately, not enough to deter from the story. I DNF'd plenty of books just from the conversations alone.

Also: Emily did not think of anything else except about Eric. It makes for a boring read. Just makes her a little bit one sided. You can argue that teenage girls...more

3 1/2 stars! I really liked most of the book getting to know the characters and seeing them fall in love...other parts I just liked. The ending was a little abrupt for me. I was really hoping to see how they handled the situation they find themselves in. Maybe there will be a sequel?
Jennifer
I thought this was a great love story....the story did move quickly and the ending was abrupt, but I still really liked it. The only thing missing was an epilogue to explain what happens in the future. a little closure. I guess it leaves it open for a sequel.

I felt like things went really fast.
And...I felt like either the author skipped the "getting to know you" or that there was none.
I felt as if the characters didn't really know each other, and so I didn't know them either.
So, I didn't like it.
Amy
I actually liked it. I thought it was cute and a super easy read. Some of it was like really....That is how you react to some things?!?! Not in the real world and if so I don't live near it. But it was over all a cute book. I look forward to reading the next one.

Oh my god. This writer needs a grammar check. The plot is AMAZING. But she took it in a very wrong way. She could have made it a lot better and the grammar was very confusing. So i would say..... I have read better
Mrs. Ron Weasley
This book made me so angry!! Its such a bad influence on young girls and the main character was so full of herself! Ugh gag!! Don't recomend. Well it wasn't all bad...I just didn't particualry (SP) like it.!

I thought this was a lovely sweet book about first love and first everything..... It was a smooth and easy read and I immediately fell in love with the characters. I cant wait to read the next book.
Tia
Wow, that was a dramatic novel to read. Also I have to ask, how could Eric's dad pull him off the football team? He is nineteen, plus on a scholarship so how would that be even possible?
Koko
Emily and eric has such a cute relationship. She was so innocent. But he treated her so well. It was sad that he turned be such a jack ass haha. But overAll I loved reading their story and how it started.
Rachel
I really enjoyed the story line of this book but the grammar was a bit off & the character was a bit too 14 instead of 18-20. However, I do look forward to book 2 despite some of the bad reviews.
Natalie
okay this book was the worst book I read this year. I've never given a book 1 star but this book was terrible. the writing style was awful and there was so many grammar mistakes.
Bekka
This book was alot more complex then i thought it would be. But by the end of it I was in love with the characters and cannot wait for the second enstalement of this series : )
Stacia
I really enjoyed this sweet love story. I flew through this book and even passed it on to a group of my friends and my daughter- so yes of course I would recommend it :)
Becca
The majority of this book was very enjoyable but the last half or so of the book felt rushed to me. The ending was very abrupt and left something to be desired.
