Wild Horses by D’Ann Lindun is a tale of suspense, intrigue and love, told in a setting on the outskirts of a small town in Arizona where wild horses still run free. The story revolves around the plight of the native mustangs, and the man who tries to protect and save them from a government that would capture and sell them for slaughter. Castana Castillo is a headstrong, independent woman who returns to her childhood home to search for her missing brother. She soon discovers that not only is he...more
It's a fairly fast-paced romantic suspense full of beautiful description and imagery. It's entirely too easy to find yourself sympathizing with the characters which are well developed and full of such strong emotions. The author painted a vibrant, smoothly flowing adventure that was enthralling to read.
The book was full of twists and turns around every page. Ms. Lindun's description was so affluent, I felt more like a character in the novel at some points as opposed to the reader. Plus, by the...more

Horses aren’t the only thing wild in D’Ann Lindun’s Wild Horses.
The rugged Arizona terrain with its canyons, ridges and winding trails makes a stunning backdrop for this romantic suspense novel.
Castana Castillo is searching for her brother and so is FBI agent Jake Breton. She’s smart, driven and tough, traits she needs to scour the countryside. He’s conflicted, hiding his identity from her. He’s also capable, strong and oh-so-sexy. From the moment they meet on a rainy night, Castana and Jake spa...more

Castana Castillo and Jake Breton couldn't be more mis-matched as the main characters in Wild Horses. Castana is bound by family loyalty to find and save her brother, a wild horse activist. Jake is bound by the law to bring Castana's brother to justice - dead or alive. This is the set-up for Wild Horses, a story that pulls you in from the first sentence. D'Ann Lindun's writing takes you right into the Arizona forest and the burning attraction between Castana and Jake. If you love reading about st...more
Castana Castillo reluctantly returns home with a single purpose in mind – to find her missing brother. When Jake Breton, literally, stumbled across her path, she quickly discovers she has even more to be worried about than just Martin’s disappearance. Set in still-wild Arizona, the description is such that you feel as if you are on horseback alongside the search party. Even if you don’t typically find yourself drawn to a Western-themed book, I encourage you to check this one out.
I am first, and foremost, a horse lover. Secondly, a suspense lover with romance thrown in. When both of those loves are combined, I'm on happy reader. Wild Horses was a mix of both and D'Ann Lindun--horsewoman that she is--did a wonderful job on this novel. The plot reveals were paced well and kept you guessing. While not like my typical thriller-type reads where you're taken on a breath-stealing race, Wild Horses made for a great who-dun it read while traveling.

Wild Horses by D’Ann Lindun is full of intrigue. Twists and turns meet the reader around every corner as Jake and Castaña search the wilderness for Castaña’s missing brother. The mystery is compelling, as is the sexual tension between the hero and heroine. And the plight of the mustang herd springs from the page and grips the reader by her heart strings. This book is a must-read for any horse lover.
Wild Horses by D'Ann Lindun is an interesting romantic suspense that follows Castana Castillo as she searches for her missing brother, a wild horse activist bent on saving the last of a group of Wild Horses in the Arizona wilds. She happens on Jake Breton, an FBI Agent investigating some unexplained deaths that seem to involve her brother. Jake suffers from heat exposure and she rescues and nurses him to health. Jake then follows along with Castana in her search for her brother hoping to find mo...more
I liked the idea of the mustang controversy, but didn't feel it took enough of a center stage. The characters, Castana and Jake bother had intriguing backgrounds but their romance itself was not very exciting, although it was nice enough to keep me reading. Best scene was when they were shopping for baby items.
Wild Horses is a well-rounded suspense and a really great romance.
D'Ann Lindun keeps you wondering throughout the story, giving plenty of hints but having enough twists to please even the stoutest sleuth.
Her characters are well written and the setting is as important to the story as the dialogue and she handles it masterfully.

D'Ann Lindun has a winner with this story. FBI hero undercover. Strong, confident heroine. Both wanting one thing, to find the heroine's brother. But for completely different reasons. I love that the heroine knows her brother skirts the edge of the law, if not totally breaks it. But she still loves him. The story weaves a picture of an Arizona I want to visit, even if just through reading Wild Horses.
