The Theory of Attraction is my first taste of Delphine Dryden’s writing and it’s a fun, romantic, sexy story!
Camilla can set her watch by her hunky rocket-scientist neighbor who jogs past her window each day. She relishes each glimpse of his shirtless abs, and is dying to see more. But it’s hard to connect with a man who doesn’t seem to know she exists…

Wow! This was a short but decidedly hot and sexy story. Ivan and Camilla are neighbours in an apartment complex near the university where they work. He is an astrophysicist with an intelligence of near genius proportions but with a social ineptitude that borders on Aspergers. Camilla, a computer script monkey at the same university, is his friend and neighbour.

He hardly seems to notice her as a woman but she’s been harbouring a secret crush on Ivan who has, innocently, been showing off his gorg More...

I don't read much contemporary ... anything. I get bored if there isn't fantasy, honestly. Sometimes copious amounts of sex can make up for that though, and it helped that this was the perfect length for erotica (a bit over 100 pages) and that it didn't feel too short or underdeveloped.

Dryden wrote this smartly and concisely and I never felt like things dragged on or that the sex got mechanical. Both characters had their strengths and weaknesses which added a bit more realism to the story than j More...

WHO KNEW NERDS COULD BE OH SO SMEXY????

Okay, so I had two images in my mind as to who I thought Ivan Reynolds, our geeky hero, resembled in this book. He was such a dichotomy to me.

“Sense memories of you persist and do not seem to abate as the day progresses. It’s disconcerting, Camilla. I don’t like it when my mind plays tricks on me. I would much rather simply have you here in the flesh, to feel and taste and smell with my actual senses. Instead my mind keeps conjuring this false perception o More...

I loved this book. Simply loved it. Review in process.

I'm having a problem with this review because I enjoyed it so much that I don't want to sound like a gushing teenaged fangirl. Bare with me, please.

Ivan: Man oh man! I loved Ivan. Ivan was delicious in the way that Dr. Pepper is delicious. You can explain a lot of it...but for the most part you have to taste it for yourself.

Ivan: (bona fide rocket scientist) is described by one character in the book as "borderline autistic." He is incredibly More...

Dryden did something really interesting here -- created a hero who is clearly somewhere on the autism spectrum, with the accompanying literalness, rigidity, anxiety, and lack of social skills, but who's also the world's best Dom.

Camilla has been attracted to her geeky neighbor Ivan ever since she saw him respond calmly during an emergency; the hot bod he shows while running past her window -- "6:30 in the morning, out for a run each and every day" -- doesn't hurt either. When Ivan enlists her he More...

After a couple of more emotional books I was in need of something more fun and wicked when I stumbled upon the latest What To Read Wednesday blog post by author Ruthie Knox. She highly recommended The Theory of Attraction by Delphine Dryden and I thought I’d give it a try. I am so glad I did!!

I loved this one!

I'm a complete sucker for an emotionally/socially handicapped hero so when I read the book blurb from this little gem I was SOLD. Well, the reality of 'The Theory of Attraction' actually far surpassed my already high expectations and IMO Dryden delivers a top-notch touching and sexy story that now lives on my "favorites" shelf.

Ivan (God, I even love his name!) is either a borderline or high-functioning autistic rocket scientist genius who works as a "Professor" and researcher at More...

Erotic Dominance-and-submission power plays meets Big Bang Theory in Delphine Dryden's eminently entertaining The Theory of Attraction. Begin with a hero that’s different from the norm, sexy at times, and has geeky conversations--an intriguing hero who was so strict in his schedule and needs, and more than slightly a nerd. Add in BDSM, and you’ve got something I couldn’t resist. Ms. Dryden delivered one hell of a great story! Yes, this was everyt More...

I am not one who normally flounces books. I seriously try to finish. But this book? I don't even know what was going on.

First, I have to say that the cover is hot. I love the title, and...it's hot. Other than the overall idea of this book, that's about all I liked.

Cami has a thing for her hot, geeky-to-the-extreme neighbor, Ivan. She wants him. Honestly, I think she'd want anyone, but I'm not going to argue that point here. The first third of this book was boring. There was so much detail about More...

I absolutely loved this book! It was right up my alley with it being The Big Bang Theory goes BDSM and all!!

Camilla has slight stalker tendencies towards her neighbor Ivan, the hunky rocket scientist, whom she watches like clockwork daily as he takes his jogs, works in the garden, etc. Ivan and Camilla are friends and colleagues but Cami isn’t sure Ivan even realizes she is a woman most of the time. The nerd humor made me laugh, out loud a few times near the beginning. The friends to lovers development was surprisingly sweet, and there was just enough angst near the end to keep it from being too sweet. There's a lot of sexytimes in the story, but it's also used to developed the characters and their relationship to each other in a way that works for me. My list of new favorite authors is continuing to grow with the addition of Delphine Dryden. I have never read anything by her, but I plan to fix that ASAP.

The synopsis pretty much sums up the plot line fairly well. Camilla and Ivan have been friends for a few years. I'm firstly going to admit that I read this book in one sitting. So it is not a bad book by my standards if it kept me glued to the pages so well. However, after I've now slept on it, I can't really pinpoint what exactly kept me interested in the storyline except maybe insomnia.

The two main characters are Camilla, a computer geek who is really a social anthropologist, and Ivan, a rocket scientist. The issue at hand is Ivan's social awkwardness, his inability to socialize and act normally in ever More...

I thought Ms. Dryden did a fantastic job conveying the varied emotions and feelings that Camilla and Ivan went through during their journey. They were both great characters and very likable. The dialog was real and there was a lot of humor sprinkled throughout. The sex scenes were scorching yet very sensual. The training was deliciously arousing and steamy.
If you are looking for a strong romance, a strong story, and strong characters, you will love this book.

This was a sweet story, and I definitely enjoyed it. At times, I really liked the dichotomy of Ivan’s personality. He’s a genius who is absolutely ignorant about social situations, and that made him come off as both rude and sweet.

“Cami, what are we supposed to do now? Do we go to sleep? Do you go home?” I would have preferred a passionate insistence that I stay, but I couldn’t help smiling at Ivan’s cluelessness. “Do you want me to go home?” “I’m not sure,” he admitted. “I want you here. And i More...

I agree with other reviewers that this story is short yet hot and sweet. It's absolutely steamy and sexy.
Ivan, the main man lead, was clueless about how to socialize with other people and that's why he asked Camilla for favor. Cami who was had a love-struck to her geek neighbor found it's pretty interesting to get close to Ivan. She only had 3 weeks to teach Ivan how to speak with others also made Ivan recognized her.

The Theory of Attraction is sensual, addicting and smoking hot! Yes, it’s a short read, but you get so much out of it.

Ivan is an Astrophysicist who is much more comfortable in a lab surrounded by computers than having to interact with people. Interact is exactly what he has to do for an upcoming dinner party. Here we have an opportunity for his friend and neighbor, Cami, who has secretly been obsessing over him. Ivan asks for her help in prepping him for the party. Of course Cami jumps at the ch More...

BAZINGA! That was my initial reaction to after reading Delphine Dryden's 47,000 word erotica romance. This short read was a splendid, toe curling book that leaves you swooning over the most unlikely male protagonists. What sets The Theory of Attraction from other books is that the male lead is so different from the norm in the erotica romance world. That difference is what made this such a fun read and I was so glad I picked it up from NetGalley.

On Anne's recommendation, I read the Seduction Hypothesis. When I finished I had to go back and read Ivan and Cami's story. I wasn't too far into The Theory of Attraction before I realized I had read it before (evidently my poor memory could benefit from some sort of "books read" system as this is no where near the first time this has happened to me.) As I continued to read, I remembered how much I had enjoyed reading it the first time around.

I liked the concept more than I liked the execution, so I think my high expectations (and the fact that, pre-reading, I got the storyline confused with Charlotte Stein's Deep Desires, and most of the way through the book, I was impatiently waiting for voyeurism to become part of the plot, which is COMPLETELY MY FAULT) were largely responsible for my lack of enjoyment.

I quite like Delphine Dryden's writing itself: the tone of her books that I've read have been light and funny in a low-key way, an More...

Camilla (Cami) is attracted to her scientist neighbor, Ivan. She has not had sex since the end of her last long-term relationship two years prior and for some strange reason she has started lusting after Ivan even though Ivan has never shown any kind of interest to her other than a warped neighbor type friendship. Ivan is the stereotypical nerd genius. Full of book smarts but lacking in personal interaction skills. An important event is about to occur in regards to his job so he asks Camilla to More...

I was in the mood for a hot, steamy read & boy did this book deliver.

The tension, buildup between Cami & Ivan was fantastic!
Ivan, a very intelligent but socially awkward nerd, and Camilla, the next door girl who hides her feelings, were such a good fit.

So ...when did Ivan, the nerd, become incredibly attractive to me as a reader?

You know what? I really liked this silly little book. I liked it a LOT.

Neighbors in an apartment complex largely inhabited by a bunch of geeky nerds, rocket scientist Ivan asks computer programmer Camille to help him woo prospects for funding grants Ivan needs to continue his research. Camille gamely agrees, largely due to her growing attraction to Ivan. At first glance, he is cold, forbidding and opinionated. But as she gets to know him, Camille discovers that Ivan is complex.
