I'll write as proper a review as I can in a bit, but first allow Spongebob and Patrick to show you how I looked like almost the entire time I was reading this book.

Yup. Giggled and almost managed a blush I did and was going to post something on Facebook at some point except I figured no one in my friends list really would appreciate a grown ass woman giggling over a lavender penis. No, you heard right. There was a lavender penis involved as well as some naughty inter-species man lovin' and pret

This had a much stronger sci-fi world-building than the first book in the series. I think because it was essentially a road trip and we got to see the characters move around the universe and interact with people on different worlds. I liked that a lot.

Lots of bed action here and I enjoyed the physical differences and how the sex between different species was incredibly hot. Darien and R'kos are extremely likeable characters. There's a sweet chemistry between them and the relationship that devel

3.5-4 stars overall. This book was a little bit uneven in terms of my enjoyment. I loved the first 50% or so when R'kos and Darien were getting to know each other. The next 30% was less enjoyable for me because it focused on the outside forces keeping them from being together more than their relationship. I felt like the story kind of veered a little too far off course in these parts. The last 20% was good, though, because it came back to center and focused on our main couple again and what they ...more

An alien and human mating? Oddly its quite sensual and unique, especially with the liquorice flavour part of the story which was weirdly interesting. I had no idea what to make of it at first, lets just say it came as a surprise a good one, Lol. Ricky has some potent and special assets he knows how to use them much to Darien's delight. Darien is in heaven, happy with his little alien and who could blame him. Cute, likeable and very entertaining. A fun read without being too strange or off puttin ...more
I really enjoyed this little sci fi novella. The guys were both adorable and it was so fun (and smexy) to see them discover and experience the differences between them. Nice little bit of angst to add some drama but not make things too overwhelming. A great summer read.
It was alright.
Barely-there alien differences, purple-skin porn, sappy feelings.
While reading the first book I wanted it to be longer and explain more about the world building. I've got my wish in this one. R'kos, the Ankylos ambassador and Darien a human thief/small time criminal, travel together through the galaxy and while Darien explains the human colonies to his Ricky, the reader can catch up on this new world and learn more about the Ankylos race.

I thought this alien race quite fascinating, even though I hate licorice, and you have to read the book to find out, why I'

I will start off by admitting that I am not a huge sci-fi fan, but I really got into the worldbuilding that Burn provided. I could easily visualize the different species and liked the creativity that was involved in their creation. The cultural differences between the species was one of the most intriguing parts and really gave the whole world a more realistic feel despite the whole aliens and spaceships thing.

Both characters were well-written and interesting to read about. Darien, the human, ac
Ok, well that was different…not bad, but certainly different. I very much enjoyed the first book in this series and was looking forward to the second. While I didn’t like it as much it is still a very fitting sequel and builds nicely on the first. We get to learn a lot more about the Ankylos and their nature’s in this one, and well you just might want to hang on to your hats with this one boys and girls.

Book two is R'kos' story. As the son of the Ankylos Emperor, he is expected to settle down. Stifled by familial obligations and the hive-herd lifestyle on his planet, R'kos steals a ship and heads to Elora Ki to see if he can find Mr. Right. Darien is the Robin Hood of the Galactic Alliance. He and R'kos' paths cross when Darien is in trouble and R'kos offers to help. Together, they evade Darien's pursuers and sneak aboard his space shuttle. Traveling along Darien's route, R'kos and Dar

Thanks to Vio for bringing this one to my attention, it sounded good, but since aliens and sci-fi isn't my preferred genre I probably would have skipped it.
Darien is a 'criminal' but really more of a Robin Hood and a real sweetie, and Ricky is a big purple gentle giant ( no, not like Barney, thank goodness).
Both don't fit in, Darien left home at 15 and had to make his way in the world anyway he could and Ricky lives in a very ( really very) close knit society , with no personal or privat s

I've never been interested in PNR - it just doesn't resonate with me. However, it was available in a group of lendables, so here I am. The love story was pretty average; it didn't break new boundaries but also was not offensive or non-enjoyable. The paranormal elements made it just meh for me.

I might look into another book of the author's if it is not paranormal. *sigh* I'm probably lying. I can't not read series, and the sequel was advertised at the end.

Oh, one thing. This is the second book

I'm loving this series so much! The sci-fi elements and romance are perfectly in sync--never too much of one or the other. R'kos was alien enough to make it blazing hot fun reading of him and Darien as they forged a believable connection. Each of the MC had been seeking something and found it in each other. Glad we got to visit the culture on R'kos planet, which I'd been curious of since book one, as well as a cameo from Jathan from book one. Another thoroughly entertaining read. I look forward ...more

I absolutely loved this story.

It has every ingredient I love. Alien sex and...uh. Okay, that's really all I needed to love this book to bits.

This story was far more interesting than the first book. I found R'kos to be utterly adorable, horny and clueless while Darien was amusingly horny.

One of the highlights for me is the different cultural perspectives between human and Ankylos. Specifically the concept of personal space and privacy.

Did I mention I loved this story? Everyone should read this!
4.5 Stars - I really liked both characters and the fast pace of the novella. It was fun and sexy.

Even though this was book two, it can totally be read as a standalone, though now I want to read book one :)
Audible version.

I started listening to this 10 months ago and just couldn't get all of the way through it. Somewhere around the 40-50% mark, my interest would drop off.

Forcing myself to make it through it all this month, I thought through what my issues were.

The narrator (Chad Maxwell) wasn't the right one to be reading this book. His voice was too much of a distraction to me.

I did really like the two characters - R'kos and Darien. I enjoyed all of the pieces and parts that involved the two get

Fans of Spice 'n' Solace will probably love this story, but I had similar issues with this one as I did with the first, which is odd, since I love Burn's Cop Out. An enjoyable story with an interesting world, steamy sex, and a unique alien specie, but nothing that really jumped out and impressed me. I wanted to enjoy this story more than I did, and though I felt disappointed in some elements, overall it was a pleasant read.

The writing wasn't bad, but it didn't thrill me. It felt clu

I have just recently started enjoying Sci-Fi Romances and spotted this book. The title caught my eye because it reminded me of one of my favorite historical legendary characters, Robin Hood. And-
I was right. There was a bit of Robin Hood in the human character as noted in the blurb. The story was also fascinating with all the Sci-Fi elements that were present particularly in the racial differences between Darien, the human and R'kos, the Ankylos alien.

R'kos is the son of the Ankylos ruler and an

I enjoyed this. The writing was pretty good, I liked the guys, and I liked the chance to see Jathan One Moon, one of the lovers from Spice ‘n’ Solace. (R'kos was also in S'n'S, as a side character.) The Chimera stuff was interesting, and I wish more was done with that. But in general the story didn't really cover any new ground. I've seen a lot of these elements before. The prehensile penis, the communal living aliens with no sense of privacy. I could see why Darien freaked out, but that whole p ...more
I am glad that this series can be read as standalones as I read book 1 so long ago.
It was nice to be back, this time with Dairen and R'kos. I am so glad Darien called him Ricky as I couldn't decide how to pronounce his name.
It was a nice jaunt even if the ending did come so smoothly. Although not a big fan of angst, I thought the misunderstanding was cleared up a little too easily.

I honestly would have never picked up this book if I wasn't participating in the 2013 A-Z book challenge, this book hadn't stated with the letter "A", and finally if it hadn't been one of the few books at Audible that did start with "A". I did not have high hopes that it would be anything more than a PWP. I have to say I was completely wrong on that count. In fact I liked the story better than the smut in this particular book. Objectively speaking, this book was the best decision I have made in at least two weeks.

The human main character is a good-hearted (I guess?) thief slash smuggler with serious family issues. When he's not thinking with his dick, he's saying things like I'M PLENTY DANGEROUS and getting himself into trouble. His lover is a lavender-skinned (all over, ohoho) alien prince, but not enough of a prince that it like really ever matters what he does, who decides to leave his family to see what this havi

Quick read. A little suspense, a lot of sex, minimal angst.
Interspecies romance in a sci-fi setting. A thief/smuggler and a runaway ambassador.
I guess I would rate it at about 3.5, but I am bumping up to four because I like the world building / species development.
The anatomical difference between the men made for some interesting sex. Speaking of sex, there was a lot of it. But the book still had a decent plot.
Some of the villains/opponents seemed one-dimensional b/c their motives were not re

I really, really liked this book!

There was something so large and kind about Ricky that you instantly just loved him, and could understand why he did the things he did.

I especially liked the way the author handled the difference in cultures -- enough that our American privacy norms would be shocked and could relate.

Really enjoyed the book!
Both the writing and plot of this novella were extremely simplistic, even more so than the previous book in this series. That said, it was still a pleasant way to kill a few hours. I was in the mood for something that didn't require much mind share, and this fit the bill.
