The cookbook is broken down into categories like Appetizers, soups, sides, and meats like pork, chicken, beef, etc. Each section is color coded and there is a guide in the back so it is super easy to find what you are looking for. Some of the recipes have a note about how they came to be and some even have notes for additions to make it your own. So the recipes are very adaptable.

A lot of cookbooks these days feature celebrities that also are chefs. This is not one of those kind of books. Host of “In The Kitchen With David” on QVC, David Venable is not a chef. He is a guy who likes to eat and knows a thing or two about cooking. The result is this 254 page cookbook with the same title of as his TV show. It features 150 recipes to make food and company fun. This is a fun cook book with good recipes. The cheddar-broccoli poppers are very yummy. I had some stickng on the spinach-tomato frittata, but it still tastes good. The grilled cheese croutons add a special touch to the creamy tomato soup. No one can walk away from the beer-battered onion rings they are delish. The name says it all for my ultimate macaroni and cheese. Since my sister and her kids are gluten-free I was glad to see the flourless chocolate cake, now to make it dairy-free as well. M ...more

QVC host David Venable has written a wonderful cookbook based on his series on QVC. There is a nice intro by Paula Deen. The different reciped catagories are color coded, but the best is the little stories that David tells about each recipe. He also gives cooking tips so the recipe will come out well. There are also ideas of how to vary the basic recipe by changing few ingredients. That was my favorite part of the book. The pictures are beautiful, but I wish there were more. Yum. I get fat just reading these recipes. The breakfast quiche was delicious. Overall, I was disappointed that many of the recipes relied on premade and purchased ingredients instead of creating from scratch. Don't get me wrong though, this book is kept within arm's reach in the kitchen -especially as the weather gets colder and we don't eat as light.

This is the best cookbook of the year. I debated adding cookbook to my list of books read in 2012. why not? I read them like a novel. I rarely use recipes and hardly buy cookbooks(I have way too much). But I'm going to buy this one. The recipes are simple but not too simple--nice pictures. He uses regular ingredients and simple techniques.

I have to admit I was a little skeptical about this cookbook. David of course has his vast QVC audience to sell to. Happily, I love this book. I have made many of the recipes and they are delicious. It has a friendly feel as if David wishes he could be in your kitchen with you. Thanks David, wonderful cookbook.
