It took me way to long to read this book. I had no problems putting it down and I just had to force myself to finish it so I could move on to something else. The twist on how vampires were created wasn't enough to keep my interest. Several times I thought, "Oh, I think it's going to pick up now," only to have my attention held for 2 or 3 pages.

It needs editing or even proof reading would have worked better because the author got her facts a little mixed up, she was calling one twin the others n...more

The story
This story kind of feels like an origins story. You know, an origins story is like an introduction. Hou have the fun of introducing the characters and getting to know them, but that takes time. With the second one, you can just get on with it and have a rollicking good time. I love the fact that she changes...more

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review. Early 1900's, Dana meets and marries Bryson and is very much in love until Bryson is in a hiking accident. He is at deaths door when Dana is approached by Donovan, a vampire, who tells her that he can save her husband if she gives him her soul. In return she will be immortal and get a soul sister, a twin, that is vampire and will always be with her. She will do anything to save Bryson and takes the deal, unfortunately Bryson is killed in an...more

I don't think we need to compare vampire stories with other vampire stories. Our society is so fixated on this OR that, can't it be this AND that. Baskin Robins has 31 flavors so can we....Smile
I truly enjoyed this book for exactly what it is a story about love and survival amongst woman, who happen to be Soul Sisters. They favor one another in appearance but are as different as night and day. But there is one thing they both agree on and that is the dedication and love they have for one another...more

Once I was left alone long enough, I couldn’t stop reading this book till the end. When Dana’s husband gets sick and it looks as though he isn’t going to make it, Dana makes a deal with her own devil Donavan and gives him some of her soul so she can save her husband. From her soul, Ani is created and is considered her soul sister. Without one the other would die and now have lived for over 100 years even after an accident claims Dana’s husband. They are two completely different personalities. Da...more

WHAT I LIKED:

I adored how unique the premise of this story was. Basically, Dana gives her soul to Donovan in exchange for saving the love of her life. In doing so, her soul sister, Ani, is created. Ani is Dana's identical twin except for one key difference: Ani is a vampire. That right there is an awesome concept and so unique from anything I've ever read. Overall I thought this was pretty good, there was some romance, plenty of adventure, and a great relationship. The sisters are over 100 years...more

Soul Sisters by Janiera Eldridge
This book is an interesting and unique take on the vampire genre that is out in the written world right now. This is the first book I have read by this author. The characters are very likeable and the story flowed well. I was hoping for more of a fight at the end of the book, but it was very good nonetheless. The emotions and the feelings from the characters are quite realistic. The story was gripping and intense in cert...more

Dana is human who has built a normal human life. As much as you can when she was born in 1912. After making a deal with an ancient vampire shortly after her marriage, she gave part of her soul to create a vampire – her soul sister, Ani. After a long journey over the years, the two now live together, best friends and greatest confidants, the siblings are enjoying their eternal lives in their own ways.

Except Ani’s reckless behaviour draws more attention from the powers that be. Until her passionat...more

Soul Sisters is a very interesting read. I have to say that the book grabbed me from the first page and kept me reading until the end. When I got to the end I needed to know what happens next but I will have to wait for book two. As I was reading this book two things stuck out to me, first what would you do for the love of your life? and second what would you do for your sister? These questions were answered for me as the story progressed and I loved how the author drew you in slowly giving you...more

Janiera Eldridge introduces you to a whole new world of vampires. How they're made? Well, that's still a question left unanswered. There is a creator and the process is a secret. *shrugs* Dana and Ani are soul sisters. Dana is human and will live as long as her soul sister Ani, who is a vampire and was created by Donovan. Dana is immortal and will live as long as her soul sister is alive. But when Dana is drugged and...more

This is a unique premise with characters that are rarely seen in most of the vampire stories I have read. Additionally, the ‘creation story’ for Ani was very cleverly presented, and provided a pair of immortals who are inexorably connected in so many ways. The author shows great promise, dealing with characters that develop into fully realized beings while still providing a very clearly defined set of differences for the two sisters. Attitudes and responses are well delineated with a sense of re...more

At the beginning I didn't ink that I would enjoy this book as much as I did considering it is new adult, bordering an adult novel. But I was wrong. I really enjoyed it. I really liked the flashbacks in this novel between modern times and olden times. I felt that in this book it worked. It was used to give background information, and it helped the book not hindered it. Also I liked the whole idea of being soul connected. Where a human gives up a part...more

I downloaded this book from Amazon during a promotion and on behest of the author for a review.
The premise of the book was delightfully novel and fresh and gets a 4 * review rating without a doubt. It is seldom that with the amount of books I read and review that I find a vampire story with a truly unique plot line and this book is truly unique in that regard.
Characters in the book are mostly well fleshed out when they are major characters and the other characters...more

Intriguing & Unique

Janiera Eldridge did a wonderful job creating this world of vampires, it is truly unique and a one of a kind read. I loved how vampires are created from part of a human soul and that sister vampire protects her human sister. Janiera’s characters are strong and heartfelt; it’s great to see more books having strong female characters. Dana and Ani will take you on journey to survive when others have failed to do so.

The story of Dana and Ani begins when Dana meets a...more

Light-years better than the Twilight Saga series. Characters with a real personality and not only this but also ones that each of us can relate too. Another thing I must highlight is the fact that Eldridge doesn’t make her characters fit the mold but rather opens up a new realm – coloured characters and this is a new/fresh and fantastic thing to see hero’s and heroine’s with a different backgrounds to the otherwise typical and over-represented characters.

The journey the characters and that we t...more

WOW.....Janiera Eldridge sure know how to captivate her readers with her writing!! This is a fabulous book with a fantastic twist to it. I was hooked from beginning to end. It has been a while since I have read something like this story with a different paranormal twist!

What first drew me to Soul Sisters is the fact that it had POC on the front cover and second, it was a unique twist on vampires. And I agree that Soul Sisters does have its own mythology with vampires, which makes it so that if one of the sisters dies so does the other one. The sibling love in this story is touching and it takes priority over the romances. However, I didn’t “love” this book. Its characters are ultra modern and the fact that both Dana and Ari act like they were born in 1990 inste...more

What an awesome new twist for how vampires are created. I would of never thought of something like that and it was a good thing that Janiera Eldridge did because I loved this story.

Back in the late 1800's Dana was a 23 year old black girl in Harlem. She lived in a high class area with her mother and father, loved reading writing poetry and collecting her porcelain dolls. On...more

This book was in a genre all of its own. I feel like I am repeating others when I say this, but it was so unique and new. The way Janiera Eldridge gives a new twist to vampires is amazing. I have never read anything like this before, and it has given a breath of fresh air for the old vampires. I won't compare this to any other vampire story I have read, because that wouldn't be fair. I feel that each take on vampires, whether an old plot or new, deserves to be treated as its own story. And that...more

this was amazing Janiera put together wonderful vamp and wolf story with mix race Dana is human that is inmortal and her soul sisters is a vampire. ok I no u say how is that. when you make a vampire your creator take the human soul and make the vamp identical that give the human live forever see dana husband was dying. when Donovan approach her with this deal. that she can not tell anyone.and she take it to save her husband. now that was long long time ago the sister now live together. and livei...more

I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Soul Sisters is a very unique take on the current vampire paranormal trend. I really liked how the author breathed fresh air and ingenuity into this genre with her tale of twin sisters Dana and Ani. Dana is human and Ani is a vampire. Dana is also over 100 years old. How can you be immortal and human? Janiera Eldridge answers that with a bad tasting smoothie.

Ani's becoming draws heavily from the Biblical creation of Eve and...more

Soul Sisters Ani and Dana are in a fight for their lives…literally. Vampire Creator Donovan has revealed he will end Ani’s life due to her killing of an innocent. But Ani claims it was all to protect her sister Dana from being raped and possibly killed. Now they must travel thousands of miles in search of an ally and figure out a way to stop Donovan. Because when one sister dies, so does the other. That’s what happens when you share a soul.

Throughout the book we get transported from present time...more

Janiera Eldridge I am intrigued. I really enjoyed the twist in this book and the new story. I read a lot of paranormal fiction, and this has a totally different story, fresh and new. Vampires why yes we have them! Eternal souls, they are not to be missed. Love why that is present too, now add a bit of mystery and YOU have this book. The story was well written with very few grammar errors. I thought it was a fabulous first out...more

I received this book from the author to give an honest review.

This is not your typical vampire book, to where you get bit and you turn into a vampire. Soul Sisters is about a young woman named Dana who many many years ago was in love. Her husband almost died and she was approached by the Creator of vampires. He told her he would help her husband get better but all she had to do is give her soul to him and she would become immortal. Along with being immortal she would get a soul sister. Someone w...more

I REALLY LOVED this book! It's so FRESH and ORIGINAL!! I received this book from the because I will be doing a blog tour for this book towards the end of the month(June) so make sure you look out for the dates, it's going to be GREAT!

This book tells the story of twins, Dana and Ani. They aren't actually twins but they are but they are in fact sisters by Dana's soul and they just happen to look exactly alike(Isn't sounding GREAT already?). If this isn't making any sense then you should...more

Dana and Ani. Soul sisters literally, with Ani being created from a portion of Dana's soul. The premise on this vampire story is a new and refreshing idea on how vampires are created. After Ani kills a would be rapist of Dana's and then kills a witness to the murder, the Creator decides it's time for Ani to die (which means that both sisters would die). In order to protect themselves, they enlist the help of a former body guard and a werewolf to go after Donovan (the Creator). I liked the story...more

Dana became an immortal in the early 19th century. Though she is not a vampire--that would be the soul sister she helped create, Ani. But when Ani goes a little too far in protecting Dana one night, their creator does not approve...and he wants to destroy them.

Ani and Dana must come together with unlikely allies as they figure out a way to keep themselves alive.

This was quite a short book. It started off with a lot of promise that kind of fizzled for me as it went along.

When in the dedications at the beginning of the book the author said she loved Stephanie Meyer I thought I was about to get a Twilight clone but how wrong was I!!! This book has a totally unique take on vampires that was highly refreshing as was so much else. For a start the lead characters are black, I'm not gonna say "African-American" as I think they may have come via the Caribbean should it matter. Also when you get flashbacks to the early 20th Century, pre vampire, the family is quite well...more
