Wow, Sylvain Reynard did not disappoint! This sequel is at least as good as Gabriel's Inferno. The book is full of thoughtful ideas about life, sin, forgiveness and love. I am so glad that Mr. Reynard was nice enough to give me a copy of this a week before it’s release so I good devour it before going into the hospital. I waited for its release for months and let me tell you I was not one bit disappointed by it. The book starts out the morning after their first love-making experience in Italy that occurred at the end of Gabriel’s Inferno. I loved that I did not miss a moment of their lives and was able to read about the growth of their relationship. They spend some time dealing with their pasts, Julia the shy one who had a difficult childhood and Gabriel the sexually promiscuous one who had been adopted by a family that he didn’t quite think he deserved. I saw flashes of Julia gaining control of her own life and not letting others walk all over her. Gabriel was learning to love but still had issues letting Julia make some of the decisions in their relationship.

I love the way that Gabriel loves Julia. He is so protective, kind and provides her with endless pleasure. He begins to learn to deal with his feelings without turning to sex which had become his addiction after drugs, a coping mechanism really. Now Gabriel did make my blood boil a time or two when he tried to make some major decisions in their relationship without consulting Julia. I understand why he did it but big decisions should always be made together, especially in matters of the heart. There was a portion of the book where Gabriel essentially became like Julia in the Gabriel’s Inferno and Julia became more like Gabriel as far a sexual need goes. While it was ironic, it showed how both characters had grown over the course of their relationship.

There will be those that are trying to pull them apart and don’t forget, their relationship in Gabriel’s Inferno started when Gabriel was the professor and Julia the student. Would the force of these things be strong enough to tear them apart? Is their love strong enough to get through the storm? Will Julia be his Beatrice forever?

The book was as intense as the first but far more romantic. The writing is brilliant and I could feel what the characters were feeling in my heart. I don’t think that the book could have had a better ending (I know some people will want a third book but for me the series ended perfectly!).

This story is beautiful on so many levels. Having read Gabriel's Inferno prior, I knew I'd enjoy this sequel though I doubted it could match my incredible love for the first book. However, it has surpassed it.

There are some books that evoke so much emotion and create such a deep connection that you feel as if you're actually experiencing the story, rather than observing it. Gabriel's Rapture was one of these books for me.

Book one started of slow, introduced the characters. Book two I couldnt put it down. It was drama after drama, I loved it. I think as far as "love" story goes this is the best so far. Professor Emerson is so in love with Julia you can feel the emotions. At the end of the book I was on cloud nine.. Really good book.

Gabriel´s Rapture was just as beautifully written as Gabriel´s Inferno and was the perfect sequel. I love the dynamics between Gabriel and Julianne, their relationship is so beautufully described. I did enjoy Gabriel´s Inferno a tad more, but it doesn´t matter when this book had everything I wanted: drama, angst and romance. If I was to highlight every memorable quote in this book, it would probably end with me highlighting at least half the book. This isn´t just romance, it is a book about friendship, pain, loss. forgivness and fighting demons. These books simply has something magical over then.

This book is so brilliant on so many levels. It is smart written, in a poetic kind of way. Since it is written in third person, it allows us to get many persons thoughts and reasons. The book not only focuses on the sexy, charasmatic Professor and his former student. It gives us a overview on events that is important for the story, it is refreshing and preferable not to only reaad one persons POV. Sylvain Reynard has really written an EXCELLENT book. I cannot wait to read more about Julianne and Gabriel and their relationship in book 3. (view spoiler)

The sequel to Gabriel's Inferno. In this book, Gabriel and Julianne touch the heavens and the darkness of hell as their relationship is subject to unbearable pressures both internal and external. They both, together and separately, have to travel a difficult road in order to gain their ultimate goal: to be together.

A very satisfying ending to this remarkable story. I took a break while reading this, as I felt I needed to be in the right mood to enjoy the writing style of this very talented author. I enjoyed this more then the first book Gabriel's Infernoas watching Gabriel make a little peace with his past was very rewarding to me.
The two books together was a very rewarding reading experience, and I hope this author has more books to come.

There’s a longstanding belief that sequels don’t live up to the original, “The Godfather Part II” notwithstanding. That makes it all the more pleasurable to read “Gabriel’s Rapture,” because the book disproves that axiom so thoroughly. It takes the superb groundwork set in the first book, “Gabriel’s Inferno,” and builds upon it to give the reader a rich and rewarding continuation of Gabriel and Julia’s story.

Alright, as far as writing this review, I really don’t know what to say. I love Sylvain Reynard’s writing and totally in love with Gabriel’s Inferno. I love it, I love it, I love it. Alright, as far as writing this review, I really don’t know what to say. I love Sylvain Reynard’s writing and totally in love with Gabriel’s Inferno. I love it, I love it, I love it. It’s one of my all-time favorite stories off all time. With that said, I had severely high expectations on the sequel and maybe that's why I didn’t love this sequel as much as I expected to. I liked it, but didn’t love it.

The obvious positive in this sequel is that we get to witness Gabriel and Julia’s new found love. Without a doubt, these two are madly in love. Their time in Italy was beautiful and extremely romantic. We get to see the saucier side of their relationship and, yes, it was emgasmic. However, because of this, the story’s tone was different from the first. The Professor’s commanding presence was sorely missed in this sequel. He grew up, and grew up fast. His new relationship with Julia has definitely changed him. Most of it was for the better, but his brooding attitude was severely missed. In regards to Julia, her character was still on the shy side, but did start to develop a voice of her own. It took awhile for it to happen and it did get a little frustrating.

In addition to the changes in the main characters, the other thing that bothered me about the story was the multitude of people wanting to break them up. We have Paulina, Natalie, the Dean and the various other academic professionals involved in the investigation. I had such a difficult time when it came to the investigation part. I was angry and heartbroken. Though Gabriel and Julia have their HEA, I don’t think I fully recovered from that part. It was just too much. Oh, and as a side note, I really felt for Paul’s character. I’m a sucker for the brokenhearted bloke. Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy Gabriel & Julia got together, but I hated that Paul was collateral damage. He was such a sweetheart and I just adored his character. I’d like to think that he, too, has his HEA.

Overall, I want to thank you, Mr. Reynard, for writing this sequel and letting us share their happiness. You seem to have the natural talent to invoke a lot of deep emotion in your stories. I love your writing and I highly look forward many more of your stories :)(less)

What does one say about a book they absolutely loved beyond all reason? This is the dilemma I am in while I sit here trying to put into words why I love Gabriel’s Rapture by Sylvain Reynard so much. In all honesty I just want to write “READ IT” in big capital letters and leave it at that but for some strange reason I just do not think that would do it justice. So I am going to try to put into words the beauty this book captures, not only the beauty of love but beauty in spirituality, hope, forgiveness, acceptance and charity.

I am always astounded when someone doesn’t see the true beauty of these books. Yes it’s a love story about a rich attractive man and a young sweet women, but honestly this book is so much more. The romance is not what makes it special it’s the more that does. By more I mean the depth of the novel. It is a story about the fragility of the human spirit, the human need to feel unconditional love, and the constant need of mending things that are broken in the world.

When I first read Gabriel’s Inferno, (which my review you can find here) I immediately fell in love. There are many books I adore but there are only a handful of books that actually touch my heart. Gabriel’s Inferno was one of these books. I was immediately drawn to the beauty in the novel and there was something about these books that just kept resonating with me. I know it seems odd to say that about a romance novel. I mean come on, we read them to feel the joy of love and the occasional smut element. But here is the thing about this series, they are not just a romance they are so much more. Gabriel’s Inferno set the stage for the story but I believe Gabriel’s Rapture drove the true strength behind this series home.

If you asked me which book in the series I love more I would say Rapture. Why? Because I strongly believe that the scene that Mr. Reynard set in Gabriel’s Inferno truly came into fruition in Gabriel’s Rapture. I believe the true beauty in this series is the exploration of two themes one being Hope and the other redemption. As humans we all sin, we are all capable of atrocities but the great thing about humanity is that we are also capable of unbelievable love. With all our sins also comes all our virtues. In Inferno, we see the light in Julia slowly start to illuminate the dark in Gabriel, but he still is not where he needs to be. In Rapture however, we see Gabriel grow and discover the necessity of hope in order to forgive and eventually be redeemed.

I am not going to give you a play by play of the plot. I believe that as a reader you should experience that for yourself. Instead of telling you about the plot I want to share with you my favorite scene in Rapture. It’s the scene where Julia and Gabriel are walking in Florence and they come across a homeless man on the street. In this scene Julia feels a pull to help the man while Gabriel is trying to dissuade her of her kindness and act of charity. Gabriel tells her “He’ll spend the money on wine or drugs. It isn’t going to help him.” Julia responds “Even Drug addicts deserve a little kindness.” The reason this scene resonated with me is as a society we are constantly judging or condemning others. It is so easy for us just to make preconceived notions on others, but one thing I have always believed is that you can never really understand another’s pain or choices unless you have walked in their shoes. I have always believed that the concept of hope will more than not pull you through. “If I give him something, he will know that someone cared enough to help him. No matter what he does with the money that will be a good thing. Don’t deprive me of my opportunity to give.” It’s the hope here that in the end her goodness will help others, hope that charity will create a new begining.

You all may chuckle at this, but when people ask me to explain these books, on more than one occasion I have turned around and said it’s like a cup of the best hot chocolate and a warm blanket on the coldest winter day. That is how I see this series. It is bizarre to me to turn to a romance novel for inspiration but I do, time and again. Yes this is a love story, but I don’t believe it is simply a love story between a man and a woman. To me, it’s an ode to the beauty and compassion that remain in the world. This novel especially, is a song about the brightness and light that surround us and how it can demolish the dark. Thank you Mr. Reynard for these books. I don’t think I will ever be able to thank you for what you have given me and so many others. I know that I am by no means alone in my love of this series. They are truly special.

The 2*(actually 1.5*) are for the hotness on Gabriel(I am very shallow) and for the movie references

I can't keep reading this book, it's nicely written(just not for me) and researched but it smacks too much of a low budget soap-opera. He said-she said behavior are getting on my nerves and all those people conspiring to keep them apart or to break them up were too way over the top.

I liked this one.

I LOVED Gabriel's Inferno the most though. He was such a Sexy Hot Bad Boy in the first one, but still had a romantic side that made him so swoon worthy.

1. I love Julia's fortitude. She fights for Gabriel when he is determined to leave her. Julia keeps herself together remarkably well once she believes Gabriel has indeed abandoned her. And she has such strength of character when forgiving Gabriel and working to make their relationship better than before. Even more so than in the previous version of this story, Julia's fortitude shows through, especially during the time Gabriel is gone. She mourns the loss, but she also continues with her goals, and I admire this so much about her.

2. Gabriel's love for Julia is so consuming. He adores her in such a selfless way. In bed, Gabriel is totally devoted to Julia's pleasure. In Julia's career, he is completely supportive of her ambitions. Gabriel is constantly sacrificing. The reasoning behind why Gabriel leaves Julia is so much clearer. I appreciate that we get a chance to see into the conference room deliberations, and we understand his decision-making process. This doesn't lessen our hurt (as the reader), but it makes it bearable.

As I previously mention, this book is extremely well-edited. I am so pleased with the decision to leave out the pregnancy scare and the car accident. The story flows much better. I also think it streamlines Julia and Gabriel's character development.

With that said, I do think there are some questions left unanswered that SR could have tackled:

What happens to Paul? Where is his happily ever after? Paul certainly deserves it, especially after the way he helps to keep Julia together during Gabriel's departure. His intentions toward Julia are so pure, and I just don't like the idea of Paul being in perpetual heartache now that Julia is back with Gabriel.

What happens to Simon and Natalie? What happens to Christa? Do they not pay for the trouble they've caused? Do Simon and Natalie get to be happy together and realize their political ambitions without any retribution for the pain they cause Julia? Does Christa just get to go on to Columbia and finish her degree, continuing her havoc and deceitful ways? I would hope not!

However, I'm glad to see Gabriel and Julia have their happy, Italian ending.

Beautifully descriptive and evocative writing, strong plot and characters, I 100% recommend this book and the series in general.

Shelves: series, lendable

Once again I was enthralled with this story....loved seeing the Professor manage his way thru his demons! I highly recommend this book...and kinda am hoping for even more to come.....please????
