Very good book. I thought Emma was very resourceful in getting away from her kidnapper and rescuing the baby along the way. Her rescue by Damien was just what she needed, though she didn't want to draw him into her problems, and intended to leave the next day. When she finally trusted him enough to tell him the whole story Damien went into full protector mode. He had known she was lying with the first story, but still felt that she needed his help. I liked the way that they worked together to ge ...more

In Wayne’s romantic suspense novel, Texas rancher Damien Lambert stumbles across an unexpected find on his Bent Pine Ranch—an injured woman and child stranded in a snow storm. Emma Duran provides a transparent and unbelievable story that leaves Damien beyond certain there’s more to the story than meets the eye. But after being kidnapped and surviving an amazing escape, Emma needs a hero and Damien is willing to play the part until he uncovers the truth. As they navigate a minefield of murder, de ...more

I took a star away from this story for logic failures.
1. An international arms smuggler, worth billions, has an ATF senior agent in his pocket. Logic fail - kidnapping a low-level ATF tech agent to get access to codes. Why did he need to kidnap this woman...duh! Needed a woman to make it a romance.
2. The CIA, FBI, ATF, and loads of other agencies can't stop this smuggler. However, the wealthy rancher who finds the escaped agent manages to do it.

I read this book in 1 day. The story moved along quickly and the ending leads to another story. Now that Emma is a "WIDOW" she inherits all the wealth, a fabulous yacht, and an island. When she marries Damien she brings her fortune to him and they then become fabulously wealthy. What do they do with this fortune? Adopting Bell is not going to be a problem when you have that much money. What then.... turn the island into a corporate retreat? The follow up story should be great (If there is one).

The heroine escaped hell and her captor, only to show up on the heroes ranch with a baby in tow. When the hero eventually got the story out of her, he claimed he would help her and help her he does. In fact his whole family helps her and baby Belle. Just when they think they are out of danger, her captor shows up..

It wasn't a very good book. Huge chunks were missing, ends were not tied up. I was disappointed. Pretty shitty book. Not well written.

It was interesting. Until the last chapter or so. It seemed like the author just fell off a cliff with her writing, it ended so abruptly.

This would have been 4 stars but the end was horrible. All the build up and the author abruptly ends it, what a let down.

Loved it

I have read this author's books before and will continue to do so in the future. Her cowboys are always following the cowboy way of saving the damsel in distress.
