I really like mythology and I had expectations for this book, but it turned out to be nothing than just a collection of stories told like the author was in a run. Really!

This book has no "magic". It is plain boring

And I tried so hard to finish this, but I just couldn't.

Honestly, I can't recommend it to anyone.

I cannot give this book anything less than 5 stars. It has been my favorite book for years.
However, Kun adapted original Greek sources for children and had to slightly alter some myths. I realized that, perhaps, too late: only upon reading the translation of original Hesiod poems.
Still, in this book, Kun has done an amazing job compiling different sources and trying to give the whole picture of large events.
Maybe, because of the alternations made, it does not deserve all 5 stars, but I cannot ra

Moj prvi susret sa mitologijom, nakon čega sam ireversably fall for it :)

The myths and legends from ancient Greece by Nikolai Kun feature edited for students versions of myths and also Homer's Odyssey, Iliad and other classic Greek stories in short versions. I think this is the best edition of the Greek mythology to have and not just to buy a shorter version of the same book. The book is super awesome and it deserves to buy it.

The rendition of the Myth of Narcissus in this version of Greek Myth is wrong, and inconsistent with other versions. Namely, it is not Echo that curses Narcissus, but rather an unnamed male who has fallen in love with him.

This book is a very good introduction to ancient Greco-roman mythology. Most of it is based on "Metomorphosis", but he omits a lot of the more sexual parts which makes it a good read for school-age children. I wish an English equivalent was available...

I haven't read all of the stories presented in this book, but the ones I did read were very interesting. I have always liked culture of Greece so it was very exciting to read such legends and myths as "Antigone", "Odyssey" and more.
"Antigone" in particularly was very enjoyable to read (I remember this myth the most), as I it was very suspenseful and showed how family is the most important thing in the world.
Anyway, this book is very good and I had a great time while reading it! :)

Spent timeless hours as a child reading over and over again the greek translation of this book. Still, one of the most complete compilations of greek mythology you can find and adequately faithful to the original myths. Can't wait to read them to my children.

An excellent retelling of the Greek myths, it was very good to refresh them in my memory. Though it's still difficult to read Illiad or Odysseus for I don't like most of the so called heroes there and the tedious events. But I adore greek gods and I guess even found something new I hadn't known before

pff no thanks to this work, I spent three weeks wondering why Hades/Pluto sits on a throne of gold... only to find out he sits on one of mirror-like sulfur. listen Kun, these things have relevance
