Chuffed (Finnshifters #1)
by
Tia Fielding (Goodreads Author)
Mikael Jarvela may only be a half shifter, but that doesn’t mean he can’t be alpha of the eastern Finland farm-turned-sanctuary his father founded. Six wolves, a red fox, a black jaguar, and a lynx all think of him as the head of the family. But Mikael doesn’t have anyone to call his own until he comes across an injured Siberian tiger in the woods.

Born from human father and shifter mother, Mikael Jarvela takes over his father's farm for stray shifters after his father passed away. Mikael's own mother died on childbirth, so he never really knows which shifter strain does his blood has. Though having his own different kind of family, Mikael does feel lonely sometimes. Not like he can easily find a mate with his responsibility to the farm. Then one day, he stumbles an injured Siberian Tiger, which might change his life ...

I just didn't connect with this one for some reason. Nothing particularly wrong with it, I just felt a bit like I didn't care all that much. There was lots of world building thrown in with little bits about nasty shifters and I wasn't sure how Mikael got out the word and where all the people on the farm came from beyond the fact that he took in shifters. I'm also curious in books set in foreign countries, what language are they speaking. This was set in Finland and while Mikael went to school in...more

I liked this book, but I’m going to start off with the not-as-good so I can end on a lighter note. Again, you can click on the picture to get a full synopsis of the book. He’s a brief synopsis: Half-shifter, Mikael, runs a shifter sanctuary on a farm and finds a tiger-shifter, in the woods and nurses him back to health. It’s the first in a series it seems.
The book is set in countrysides of Finland and the author herself is Scandinavian and lives in the Northern Europe area much like where Chuffe...more

I really liked this book, but it was missing something. I’m not sure what, though. I read it straight through, but not because I couldn’t put it down. This book is set in Finland, right on the border with Russia. No other books I’ve read have been based in Finland, which makes it a nice change. Mikael, a half shifter, owns a farm and offers sanctuary to any shifters who travel through. Mikael can’t shift and doesn’t know what type of shifter his mother was. She died in childbirth and his father...more

OMG this book swept me off my feet and carried to a place I wanted to stay for a very long time. I loved the world painted and it felt believable because shifter were just like us humans but with a little better senses, which stands to reason as their animal counterparts in the wild have better hearing and sense of smell etc then we do. There was nothing magical about them they were just people with a difference. They didn't heal quicker or have f...more

Okay, how adorable was this? Extremely, to say the least. It’s really not a “cute” story, yet it struck a chord. Mikael’s father started the safe haven for shifters, and Mikael, at almost 40, is in charge now that his father has passed. He does a good job of it, and he takes his responsibilities very seriously. Mikael knows that he is half-shifter but his mother died before she could teach him anything and his father was so brokenhearted he never discussed it....more

This book was great but the ending of the epilogue made it even better. Who knew being chuffed at could be so cute? And emotional. Lol.
This was a short and easy read that had a simple but intense feel to it. I really enjoyed it because I've always loved stories that offer sanctuary homes. Add into the fact that Mikael is a half-shifter made things a little bit more interesting.

In a Nutshell: I really enjoyed this MM shifter romance because of its strong romance and excellent cast of characters all set in slightly exotic Finland.
The Set Up: Mikael is only half-shifter and runs a shifter sanctuary in Finland. He has lots of shifters in his makeshift family but none to call his own until he finds an injured Siberian tiger. Maxim is on the run but he can’t deny his attraction to Mikael or to the farm with its makeshift family. But jus...more

slow story without too much conflict which includes concepts about shifters that made me shake my head -for ex, even though they are shifters (one of them half shifter) they got TESTED so that they could have bareback sex - I guess in this world shifters transmit diseases, remain with scars that were gained in battles, take a long time to heal, and their reasoning is weird (cant go to hospital to take care of cuts and bruises for fear of discovery, but a BLOOD TEST is ok!
This was a very cute a quick read. Mikael owns a farm that he has taken over from his deceased father in Finnland (thus the Finnshifters series name). I really liked all the characters and the dynamic on the farm. When a wounded Siberian Tiger is found on the farm lands, Mikael and his shifter family take in the Tiger and nurse him back to health. Mikael's father was human, but Mikael knows his mother was a shifter. Because he is only half shift, Mikael can't shift and doesn't know his shifter h...more
Eh, pretty run-of-the-mill shifter story. Nice premise, and good for passing the time in an I-don't-need-to-think-so-hard kind of way, but pretty thin on the plot and character development aspects.
I liked the authors take on shifters, and it was an okay start but the story was a bit thin. I hope the next installment will be a better and have more fulfilling story that I know she can do.

Story about a shifter sanctuary in Finland run by a half shifter Mikael ( and really just a human, since he can't shift and doesn't have any special abilities).
There is a wolf pack and a lynx and a fox and more in this menagerie , and Maxim a lion shifter comes to them badly injured and is Mikael's love interest.
This was a nice enough story and I will probably read the next one, but it didn't have anything special about it to make it stand out to me.

Tia Fielding lives in a peaceful little town in a small country in northern Europe. She loves nature, her horses, cats, and even the yappy little thing that occasionally gets called a dog. Tia learned to read before she went to school at the age six and began writing as soon as she figured she had stories to tell around the mature age of seven. Stories about horses, adventures, and ghosts might ha...more
