I thought I gave up on the subject of vampires thanks to the Twilight series. But I received my copy of the this book and gave it a try. Holy crap, it's amazing. This is something different for adult paranormal fiction if the person likes to read about vampires. I liked that it wasn't a YA vampire book. You have no idea how tired I was of reading about the ditsy blond walking into a forest and falling in love with the vampire; too over done.

This was such a refreshing new take on vampire books,
The Life and Death of Lily Drake

The Life and Death of Lily Drake by T. Michelle Nelson was awesome in a completely unexpected way. I’m a fan of vampire book in general so when I first picked up this book I was super excited. It turns out that this wasn’t anything like what I thought it would be like and yet it was still really awesome!

The Life and Death of Lily Drake is about a single Mom named Lily who goes about her days working and taking care of her 12-year-old son, Keaton. Her best and only

LIFE & DEATH OF LILY DRAKE was such a fun, entertaining read that held up to its promise of a vampire tale unlike any other. It starts off with a typical, everyday mom, Lily Drake, who's agreed to a blind date. A late suitor and unexpected visitor leads to Lily going out on said date with super-hot vampire Mathias, who ultimately leads her into a world filled with vampires and royal (or cursed, depending on your thoughts, lol) bloodlines.

Lily is such a great character, strong and independent
Lily Drake is a 35-year-old, divorced mom. She has a son, 12-year-old Keaton, who is her world. She divorced her husband of 15 years after she found out he was cheating on her. Since then, her best friend Angie has constantly been playing matchmaker and setting her up on blind dates, which Lily has absolutely no interest in. After finally agreeing to one of these dates, Lily is perturbed when he arrives 20 minutes early. When she opens the door, the man standing there could hold his own with an ...more
Great great book! Review to come for blog tour!

I know most of you remember the time when vampire books were the "thing". Everyone was writing them after Meyer’s Twilight which was obviously a big hit. Now days dystopian has taken over and I do love those. And some people are still writing books with vampires. I have stayed away from vampire books until just recently and I have read three that I have really liked but they ha

The doorbell rang and standing at the door was Lily Drake's blind date. He arrived twenty minutes early. He was very handsome and dressed like a successful business man. The suit looked like it cost thousands and he filled it out like a gladiator. His voice sounded like velvet. Was this a perfect match for Lily?
Somehow, after two glasses of wine Lily winds up in a mansion and a strange bed. Was there something in the wine? This guy was so suave and good-looking, he didn't have to drug her, if th
When Lily Drake mistakes a vampire for her blind date her whole word is turned upside down. She wakes up in a strange bed inside of an even stranger mansion, unsure of how she got there and afraid of why she's there. When it is explained to her that she is descended from two powerful vampire bloodlines and that she's needed in order to protect not only human life but vampires as well, she naturally thinks everyone is out of their mind. Vampires don't exist, right? Lily soon learns just how wrong ...more

First I would like to Thank Author T. Michelle Nelson and Inkspell Publishing for allowing me to review the Life & Death of Lily Drake and be apart of this amazing book tour!

Now onto the review, Lily Drake is just trying to live her life with her son, she is divorced, working as a graphic designer and has a annoying yet amazing friend that pushes her to go out on blind dates as she thinks it time that Lily goes out and starts dating again. However, one night Lily’s “date” ends up being someo

Well, I'm Facebook friends with T Michelle Nelson, she's been publicizing this book for awhile ;) and when she posted that she would be in Delaware, OH for a book signing, I couldn't pass up getting a signed copy of her first book! BTW, she is an awesome, friendly person!

So, I took my new book home, excited to get started reading.

The beginning was a bit... different. Wasn't sure if it was the writing style or what... maybe I was just tired. So, after getting home on Monday evening, I decided to

WOW, just WOW! This book blew me away. I loved it. This author has just moved up my list of favorites.

The book started out with a punch and then lulled a little through the second third of the book, but quickly got back on track. The writing was flawless.

This series reminds me very much of popular urban fantasy series like Chicagoland Vampires by Chloe Neill, Women of the Otherworld by Kelley Armstrong and even The Hollows by Kim Harrison.

Nelson is really onto something with this book. It has a
I came across this book in a blog I was reading that recommends good romances. I'm a sucker for a good vampire book, and I wasn't sure about this one until I started reading it.

This author made me experience everything the character, Lily, did. It broke my heart and made me laugh out loud at times. This was the best vampire book I have read all year, and definitely in the top 5 ever. I won't say the absolute best only because I remember loving the first Anita Blake and Sookie Stackhouse books wh
The Life and Death of Lily Drake— Four Stars

I just finished The Life and Death of Lily Drake by T. Michelle Nelson and was definitely impressed! The story revolves around Lily Drake, a mid thirties single mother and several vampires, most notably cousins Mathias and Valentine. The story progressed very well and there was a fabulous mix of romance, action, and a few unexpected revelations as well.

Lily is a solid character, her main drive behind each action is in concern of her son, Keaton. I love
Lily has a friend who has a knack for setting her up on blind dates that don't go over the greatest. This particular blind date would end up changing the course of her life. Instead of meeting her blind date, she meets a vampire (though she doesn't know it at first). From there begins an intricately designed plot filled with animated characters and such descriptive details that you feel like you are there.

Lily has to choose between her human life and the vampire life, but she isn't a whiny char
I am not a reviewer so when I attempt to write about a book it must have knocked my socks off! I came across this book by accident and I was so glad to finally read a book about an over 30 year old heroine. Not only was she over 30 but she has a son. Lily is one kick ass hard headed female and I fell madly in love with her and Rose and Val and Mathais. This book was everything I have ever wanted in a book! I went and purchased book two right away! Don't miss out!!!! It rocked my world!!!
The Characters: This book is full of what can only be described as a seriously bad-ass cast of characters. Each of the key characters (Lily, Matthias, Val, Rose, and more) continued to develop and surprise me throughout the book. They are a wonderful mix of serious, sass, mischief, and mystery. T. Michelle did a great job of building on the characters, and keeping me guessing about their reactions and motives to each new situation.

The Relationships: The relationships in this book are as unique a
Not your typical vampire story. This book has a fresh story line for sure with interesting twists, strong female character, fierce, protective single mother with a great sense of humor, I can see this becoming a movie. A very good read, I enjoyed it very much and definitely recommend it. I hope there will be a series of books with this character……..
I loved the book! It is humorous, exciting and has several unexpected twists. Lily is a normal mom of a 12 year old boy and her world abruptly changes with one blind date. Highly vampire book all year. I hope T. Michelle Nelson continues writing about Lily Drake!

I did not know until I started reading Lily Drake that it is set in and around Columbus, Ohio. I have lived and worked in and around Columbus for 36 years and enjoyed the setting. The Lily Drake series has two more books, but there are some new releases for which I need to save my Kindle money, so I am not going to read them at this time. Lily is fun to spend time with, but I do not like love triangles, and I did not like the resolution of this triangle. Just once, I would like the characters to ...more
Action-packed and hilarious. This book has a great love story and will keep you up into the wee hours of the night reading.

Lily Drake is funny, tough and kicks butt. Best character I've read in a long time.

Not my usual kind of read. But I really enjoyed the wit and story of a mom fighting for her family. This book kept me interested and I really enjoyed the time I spent reading this book. Thanks for a fun experience.
Great book. Funny and sweet.

I was so happy at the end. This book was like a roller coaster. I wanted Lily to make the right choice so bad and I was on the edge of my seat.

I absolutely adored this book. Great, in depth characters and an awesome story line! Highly recommend to others!
looks and sounds awesome cant wait to read it...

When I read the book summary for "The Life and Death of Lily Drake" I was so excited. Too few authors write about mothers as heriones in books. So, imagine my surprise when very little of this book showcased the mother and son relationship between Lily and Keaton.

Our story begins with Lily Drake being set up on a blind date by her best friend, Angie. Her date arrives early and soon she discovers that the man she has gone out with is not the one she was suppose to meet. In fact, the man she is o

Lily is a normal everyday soccer mom, who’s best friend sets her up on a date. The date shows up hot as hades and apparently rich too. She gets date-napped and taken the guy’s house. It is here that she discovers that vampires are real and is offered immortality. The Vamps believing that she is in danger. She turns down the offer and they supposedly wipe her memory of them (but not too good as it comes back).

This is where she meets Mathias and his cousin Val. Mathias is the uppity, Lord of the M
The Life & Death of Lily Drake is a vampire story unlike any other - take a single mom, a blind date mix up, some smexy vampires and a will to survive. This is such a great vampire read -no tradionaly vampire stuff like you see in the movies, no sparkles, no preying on humans for the sake of drinking blood - just kick ass action, a love triangle, and a secret vamp society you wouldn't even know existed.

Lily is a very independent woman and knows what she wants and it is not becoming a vampir

In my mind, there are mainly two kinds of vampires. The beautiful, broody, sparkly ones:

Quite shiny, huh?

And the utterly terrifying:

(There was actually an even scarier one that I thought kind of looked like Voldemort, but I'll save that for one's imagination)

Anyways, I'm not quite sure what kind of vampire Rose, Mathias, and Val would fit into. On one hand, they seem like ordinary people, other than the fact that they're utterly beautiful. On the oth
