Dumb and crude. Stupidity underlined by gratuitous panty shots and boob squeezing. I love the anime but I'll pass on the manga. A very unappealing experience that I don't plan to repeat any time soon.

The Get Backers are the duo Ginji Amano and Ban Miso, poor, and with a almost 100% success rate - what could go wrong? Quite a lot, actually, from the Yakuza to Hevn's strange jobs and mysterious clients, it's a very good thing the Get Backers are anything but normal, in fact they are quite paranormal. Ban has his 'Evil Eye' and Ginji a electrical abilities like those of a electric eel, powers which could mean success or failure, life or death.

I quite liked the "streetwise" pair, and that they t

Sure it's juvenile and violent but it's the GOOD kind of violent immaturity.

One volume was enough to impress me with its misogyny.

GetBackers is a fun manga, but, in my opinion, is actually more accessible in anime form.

The manga art is unusually hard to follow - particularly in fight scenes, and especially in the first five volumes or so, I would have had a hard time figuring out what was going on if I hadn't already seen the anime. And the plot and content of the anime follows the manga relatively closely; you aren't missing a lot by restricting yourself just to the anime series, if you choose.

And, actually, this is not

Ahh, Getbackers. The love that will never die.

This wasn't the first manga that I read. I've read many, many others but discoverd the trailer for Getbackers on a anime DVD. At first I thought, "Hmm, I'm not sure," but showed the trailer to a friend and she said, "Oh, that looks cool!" Eventually I purchased it (still in slight doubt as anime DVD are quite expensive here) and now own the entire series of manga and anime. I'm sure I'm not the only one though.

Anyway ... the art in the manga is consi

GetBackers is a very flawed series. The plots can be convoluted, the art is hit-and-miss (very often “miss”), and the fanservice is ridiculous. I adore GetBackers despite all of it’s failings. I love stories about strong bonds of friendship, and GetBackers is all about friendship. Ban and Ginji are dorky, and damaged, and I am always made ridiculously happy by how deeply they care for one another.

Volume one isn’t a very good representation of the series, as most future volumes are taken up with

This manga reminds me of GTO: Great Teacher Onizuka, Vol. 1 so much. Read it if you're a fan.

Okay I'm a huge manga/anime fan! I've a whole collection of different manga/anime series such as Inuyasha, Fruits Basket, Bleach, DNAngel, Kingdom Hearts (a video game I have a total obsesion with) and now Getbackers. I first found out about Getbackers through DNAngel. I was watching the extra features on one of the DVD's and Getbackers was one of them. I've already bought the first three volumes but I can't find the fourth. Ginji and Ban are the greatest. Ginji's fun-loving and silly attitude r ...more

It start out kinda slow and a little confusing (at least for me), but it will soon kick in and make more sense as I continue on with the series. Soon, it is quite hard for me to stop watching it since I alway wondering what gonna happend next, and as the result, I finished it after two days ^.^. Ginji is my favorite character in this series, even though he have a dark past, he alway manage to keep on a cheerful reaction most of the time.

This anime also have a wonderful collection of Openings and

The art is a big problem for me. It's very busy and cluttered, where I prefer cleaner, sparer compositions. Ginji looks like a butch girl. Hevn's breasts are even bigger here than they are in the anime and they practically have their own subplots. Which leads to the next problem. Her huge breasts are constantly being heaved into the readers' faces and everybody plays with them. I'm not fond of the gratuitous female near-nudity and panty shots. I know that this is a convention in much manga, but ...more

3.6-ish. Plot was a little hard to follow later on in the story (maybe it was always hard to follow, I just went by the anime before I read the manga), and the art was of no help, but I liked Ban, despite how much of a bastard he was. My love of Gin x Ban was what pretty much kept me going... (also liked AkaBan, but fanwork of those are even rarer. Le sigh).

I find that this series has the ability to make me laugh in ways like no other. Despite its intervals of annoying, semi-explicit fanservice I can't seem to get enough of the art, the story and these two cuddly dumbasses. (:

Not bad, but a little too heavy on the fan service. Characters are entertaining but implausible. Art's not bad. Generally fun, but probably not worth paying full price for.

hohoho! punya komplit dan tuntas tas!! ginji en ban, great serial manga comic! plotnya seru dan kadang sedikit filosofis gitu hehehe

The manga is much more violent and full of fan service than the anime, but the humor and characters are nearly the same.
Jim
the book reminds me of miami vice, very stylish and women showing skin or being abused/abased.

awalnya nggak sekonyol komik lain. evil eye-nya si ban ternyata bisa buat kebaikan juga.

Fast and cheep entertainment. Mildly funny and full of action.
