Metropolis Pictorial is a photography and travel book that consists of full page photos of some of Tokyo's top sites. Each photo is labelled with some including short, but detailed, information about what makes each place special, how to get there, how to book tickets (if needed) and when the best time to visit is.

I guess what's so good about this short book is its simplicity. This is essentially a picture book with little captions here and there telling you what to look out for in Tokyo. All o...more

I did enjoy this book - one of my biggest gripes is that it ended so soon. It could have been ten times as long as far as I'm concerned!

This isn't a guide book, but it is like dibbling your toes into the amazingness that is Japan. They're not just holiday snaps, but thought-out photographs of various views and aspects of Tokyo - attention has been paid to composition, interesting angles etc. I love the first two pictures - firstly there's a great shot of Ueno park with this seagull flying in, an...more

This book provides an inside look that you rarely see in travel books. The book features beautiful photography, I especially enjoy the photos of the beautiful shrines. While showing pictures of museums, they aren't just shots of exhibits, but pictures of the people enjoying them. This book provides a nice representation of what you would see if you were to walk these parks and museums yourself.

Beautiful pictures in an amazing city. Photos are crisp and beautiful and often have the address included in the caption, as well as, prices and times of attractions. Unfortunately, as a traveller, I want to know more. I also want to see more. I think this would make a great coffee table book. It would also be a good book for those wishing to sightsee having seen a sneak peek of main attractions.

It was really a neat book. I would have liked more descriptions though so I could know what I was looking at. Maybe even just an understanding of why they decided to take the photograph they took.
