Krystal Harris is given an amazing opportunity to work in a rural community as a doctor and pay off her student loans. Upon arriving in town for her interview, she has to put her skills to use when one of the town people has been attacked. Aidan, the "mayor" of the town and master vampire has to enthrall Krystal to stay until he can convince her otherwise.

Well, this was certainly a pleasant surprise. I had not heard of this series but was intrigued by the premise and of course, I love vampire b

I give it a 4.5

I’m a big fan of vampire novels, so I read a lot of them. I have to admit that when I read the blurb for Redemption I was pleasantly surprised. The basics of what makes a vampire is unchanged, but Ms. Sandlin has come up with a premise for the backbone of the story that is totally unique and contemporary. I mean the idea that the vaccine for a worldwide pandemic would make human blood poisonous to the vampire population is inspired. It definitely leaves the unvaccinated minority i

Redemption captured me from the very first page and never let me go. First off I want to say that the above discription is extremely accurate and I really cannot ad much to it. So I will get right to the point – I freakin’ loved this book. This was a keep-you-up-all-night and can-not-put-down kind of book. I enjoyed the diversity in characters as well as the relationships between each of them. The world building was clear and defined and felt I fully understood the reality that Susannah Sandlin ...more

Susannah Sandlin has put her own spin on the allure of the vampire, creating a new mythology which is most intriguing with her "The Penton Legacy" series. Penton, Alabama, a small, off-the-radar town, is the setting for "Redemption". At first, Penton would seem an unlikely choice for a master vampire to set down roots. However, it is perfect for the needs of centuries-old Aidan Murphy, who seeks haven and sustenance in a world where most human blood is now poisonous to vampires. Only humans who ...more

After a devastating virus reduced the world's human population and then the vaccine to treat the global pandemic left the blood of most remaining humans poisonous, many vampires now find themselves on the verge of starvation. Competition is fierce for the few humans who didn't have the vaccine and vampires are forced to fight for their food. Master vampire Aidan has created a community for vampires and unvaccinated humans to live together in harmony. The vampires protect the humans who

I liked the premise of this book, a vaccine has ruined the blood of the humans who have been vaccinated for vampires to ingest.
Not all humans have been vaccinated and now these people are prized in the vampire community.
Penton is a town where vamps and humans live peacefully, the humans un-vaccinated are taken care of by the vamps in exchange for feeding. Of course this is seen as very desirable by those vamps who are scrounging for pure blood and a war is in the offing.

It is also a love story b

What a fun read! I took a chance and just randomly selected this book during an audible sale. I'd seen people mention it randomly but not regularly. What an interesting premise!

A human epidemic who's cure leads to a vampire pandemic. And we are left with Penton, AL - a secret colony of un-vaccinated humans who vampires can still feed off of.

Note: I won this book on the Goodreads (First Reads)

It’s not a secret that I am a huge fan of paranormal romance and I always get excited when I read a new and great book of this genre. “Redemption” the first book in the Penton Legacy series by Susannah Sandlin was AMAZING!! It was exactly what a paranormal romance should be: hot and sexy, with a lot of adventure, great characters and with very interesting plot. A big plus: the very sexy vampire with the Irish accent!

With a hint of a dystopian,

I really loved this book. It was a great introduction for a great new series. I loved the different world these vampires live it. True Blood fans will for sure love this series.
I really liked Aiden, he is swoon worthy for sure. And Dr. Krystal Harris I really liked alot, I was able to connect with her and felt part of this world right along with her.

The writing is top notch, and have no complaints on that at all. Its a great idea that Susannah had for this series, and will enjoy reading the res

The perfect balance of humor and horror - fans of HBO's "True Blood" series will love Susannah Sandlin's debut paranormal. I chuckled, I gasped, I sighed, and I couldn't stop turning pages. Loved the small-town Southern setting. The villain is believably nasty and gave me chills. I like how the romance didn't develop too easily; the hero had to be redeemed first. Complex, sophisticated, punchy writing - highly recommended summer read!

I’ve been a fan of the paranormal genre since I was in high school and Anne Rice came out with her Vampire Chronicles. Since then, I’ve read thousands (literally) of paranormal and urban fantasy novels. As much as I love them, it isn’t often an author comes up with a unique idea that stands out from the rest. Susannah Sandlin did with Redemption. I loved it.

I love the idea of the vaccine that has rendered human blood poison to vampires, and that they are facing a vampire crisis with thousands of

Penton, Alabama is in need of a Doctor. But not just any doctor will do. A vaccination that has been given to a large percent of the human population makes their blood lethal to vampires. This means a shortage of food, as well as patience. Aiden Murphy has set up a small little haven, the town of Penton, which is only made up of bonded vampires and unvaccinated humans. Only, his brother has revenge and death on the mind, and A

As before, I must admit that I know Suzanne Johnson, AKA Susannah Sandlin. We're from the same small town in Alabama and went to the same school. My review is unbiased (I hope), but since I aspire to be a writer, Suzanne is my heroine.

Could vampires live among us? That's the very simplified idea behind Redemption. Suzanne took an overused concept and developed a twist that made Redemption stand out. Other reviews have detailed the plot line so I'll skip that. Instead I'll focus on my response to

A pleasant surprise.

This is another one of those paranormal romance series that seems to be just that little bit more refined, the characters a tad more sophisticated and mature, and the focus slightly less on sex and action and more on relationships, science, communities and...you know, grown up stuff. AND sex and action! There are plenty of PNR series out there following groups of hulking warrior-types who live together that would appear quite juvenil

Oh my! This was really beyond wonderful. I'm not sure what I expected when I first read the Prologue, but then bam the first chapter really grabbed me, and I was basically hooked for the rest of the story. The concept; the thought of there being a worldwide pandemic, where some humans took a vaccination that left their blood dangerous to vampires was intriguing to me. The setting, Penton, Alabama, was interesting to visualize, as it's described to be a small town filled with humans and a scathe ...more

I had this recommended to me several times, and just kept draggin' my feet. No clue why... it just ended up that way. Boy, oh boy, it was much more fun than I anticipated! I will definitely continue the series to see what happens... I'm curious if book #2 focuses on the same couple or moves on to another or what.

Audio book narrator was OK. Not bad, but at the same time when there are characters just 3 months out from Ireland... the Irish brogue was severly lacking. Even the character that you mo

A. Overall: I really enjoyed the well constructed world building. It made the town of Penton, its people, and the adversary they’re fighting come to life as the vampire world spirals out of control, with trouble coming at Aiden and his people from multiple fronts. That means a complicated plot that kept me guessing at what was going to happen next. Now for the secondary’s. Several of them are truly fascinating and added a great deal to the overall depth of the plot. There’s Hannah, the ch

A vaccine used to treat a pandemic, makes any vaccinated human blood deadly to a vampire. Our hero, Aidan, has created a place for vampires and unvaccinated humans to live. He is very protective of the community he has built and will do anything to keep the vampires loyal to him, and their human donors safe. And that includes kidnapping a young female doctor named Krys, who was not vaccinated during the pandemic.

This book had a dystopian feel to it. In this world, the humans can very easily end

(3.5 stars) With an overwhelming sea of vampire novels flooding the market,"Redemption" is an interesting take on the myth. It seems that a sickness has overtaken the people of the world and so in an attempt to eliminate it, most people are vaccinated. Unfortunately, one of the side effects of the vaccination is vampires are deadly allergic to the vaccine and are virtually starving. Their only food source is now people who have not been vaccinated and they are few and far in between.

Katya - you always have the best toys and know my reading tastes so well!

This gem centers around the efforts of Master Vampire Aidan Murphy trying to keep his family and himself alive in the face of a global pandemic which has the ability to kill the vampires. It's bad times for the vampires. Humans went through a pandemic and now they are all pretty much vaccinated against it. Unfortunately all vaccinated humans are "poisonous" to the vamps.

Aidan has created his own little town of a mix of about 50 UN-vaccinated humans and vamps. They exist peacefully, with the humans feeding the vamps willingly, with respect on both sides.

The Vampire Tribunal is leery of this arrangement because they are jealous that Aidan has found a way not to starve to death li

Susannah Sandlin is a pen name for Suzanne Johnson, which had me all kinds of excited because I loved her urban fantasy debut, ROYAL STREET. In REDEMPTION, she offers readers something a little different, as she shifts gears to paranormal romance with a focus on vampires, which keeps all of the positives of her other writing while upping the sexy.

First and foremost, I love the setting of REDEMPTION. Vampires are still underground and their very existence is threatened by a vaccination that cause
