I received this eBook from the author in exchange for an honest review and I want to thank Nathan for this thrilling story!

Xander Stryker has had all he's ever loved ripped violently from his life by those that are only supposed to live in nightmares and horror movies. Tormented by nightmares of a reality no child should have to face, and the ever present torment from his classmates, Xander tries very hard to just vanish from the life he has been given. But when you're the child of one of the mo

I couldn’t wait to download this book by Mr. Squiers and when opportunity knocked, I opened his book. His writing technique is so fluent and well said I was trapped in not wanting any escape plan at all. I think it’s our win for having the chance to read his works. What a priveledge as a follower of his work to get to read. This is a definite must read and your loss if you don’t.

Nathan Squires is a new author for me i am not a big paranormal fan i do love my vampire books because each of them have there different kind of style. You have Xander who has seen his far share of heart ache with the lost of a love one. He finds out a few things after spending most of his life playing Russian Roulete with a gun. I did love this book at first it was slow pace but it soon came out and you did not want to let go after ward. Nathan brought out a breath of fresh air considering all ...more

I knew a little of what to expect from this book starting out, as far as lore goes, as I have already read several of Megan Parker's novels (I know, that was backwards), which is set in the same world. However, nothing could have prepared me for the level of darkness in this book. Noir is definitely aptly named. I must admit that it took longer than normal for me to finish this book, as the intensity, pain, and heartache was such that I had to put it down and separate from it several times (espe ...more

This is the first book I've read by Nathan Squier. I discovered it soon after reading Scarlet Night, by Megan J Parker, which coincides with the mythological creatures and characters in his book. For those of you who don't know, Megan is also Nathan's fiancé. Although He wrote his Crimson Shadow novel(s) first, her novels do along with his, which although I've never heard of this being done before, I do think it's pretty damn cool! They have different writing styles but it Does Work! Noir, Crims ...more

Xander is a troubled young man. Being abused by his stepfather and the last joke of the bullies in the school has done nothing to improve this situation. In fact, Xander wishes to leave this world, playing a terrifying game of Russian roulette every evening before he goes to sleep, hoping, each night, that this would be the last night.
But every night he survives to be taunted one more day at school. Nothing remains the same tho

This is a fascinating and original story, and I absolutely loved it!

Xander Striker is a very complex character. Having suffered abuse at the hands of his stepfather, and watching him kill his mother, Xander has hit rock bottom emotionally. He is very lonely, depressed and suicidal. When he is offered a chance to change his life forever, Xander jumps at it. I loved this character's development throughout the book. He finds a purpose to carry on living, even though it costs him dearl

First I must say I had to read this story twice to be able to do a review. I was just so sucked into the story the first time I was lost for what words to use to explain the story.
Nathan has such a way with words and writing that you are sucked into every twist turn and emotional tourment the book has to offer. His characters are well developed and the plot flows flawlessly from one scene to the next. His writing style will rival any movie you have watched, this story will play out in your mind
OMG Vampires and Tigers! My dream come true in an amazing, dark, and compelling read! NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART!

Xander Stryker embodies so many characteristics that we, as humans face today. I won't go into it any farther than that, because you need to read this book to get the full effect of the Author's story ~ let's just say his story spans from coming of age in a dark and twisted world to a place where choices need to made for his own survival. Tormented and traumatized by the events that

I couldn't put this book down! After loving the prequel and some of the Author's short stories from the Crimson Shadow Series, I was most eager to read this book. It was fantastic and brought the whole Crimson Shadow world to life! A different look into the world of Vampires and Mythos, Noir is a step out of our comfortable box and into a world full of horror, magic, death and violence. The Author has an uncanny ability at bringing the ch

This is one of the most unique takes on the paranormal genre that we have regarding vampires, shapeshifters, etc... The author has done an amazing job regarding this book. You feel sympathy, empathy, anger, sadness, retribution, and happiness when Xander feels it. It is a WOW read! This book is not your sparkly vampires, it is what true vampires would be like with the grotesque, intriguing, and dark nature of being who they are. This boo

A subject as old as time itself and Nathan Squiers has outdone himself - and topped all others - with this story of Xander and the vampire legend. There is non-stop action from the front cover to the back cover. You won't find sparkly anything unless it is the glint off the tips of Yin and Yang. This is not just all blood and gore. Nathan Squiers has found a way to blend perfectly the visually enticing elements of the book with the emotional elements that pull you into it so far that when you re ...more

WOW! Just mind-blowing Nathan Squiers took it out of the park with Crimson Shadow.

From the very beginning I was hooked. Nathan Squiers writing is out of the park, he writes dark, twisted, gruesome stories and this was no exception.

Crimson Shadow takes you on the journey with a young man named Xander Stryker. As a boy he was abused by his stepfather and not only was he abused but so was his mother. While going to school he w

“Noir” by Nathan Squiers is the first in his Crimson Shadow series. It concerns Xander, a boy who gets bullied at school and who lives with his grandmother. The only good friend he has is a voice in his head, yet that voice cannot protect him from his enemies either.
Then one day he gets rescued by a group of vampires, the Odin Clan, and becomes part of their community, a rare type of vampires who are feeding from blood and from personal power. He receives training and enters into battle against

What I Loved:

I love how complex Xander is. He's been through a lot, especially for a young teen, and he has his faults, but despite the dark, suicidal, and homocidal thoughts and tendencies, he is still a good guy- in the most complex definition of “good” you can think of. There is nothing I love more than a non-human character that retains their humanity, and-despite all odds- Xander does this. There's plenty of reasons for him to just be “bad,” and I think that many readers would cheer for him
Well, I'll begin by saying I was on the fence with this rating, I still can't much decide between 3 and 4 butterflies, it's right up on the edge there, lol. But as usual, if I'm not feeling a clear 3 then I'm going with a 4.

Now, there are two schools of thought regarding info about plots: the one that thinks information is info-dump and much prefers to dive right in the action (more commercial approach, in my opinion, plot/action-driven view), and the one that thinks information is essential to

I received the book on a read to review basis.

The book will take you on an emotional, dark and haunting journey as you live through Xander's life and learn about all the events that have led him to this point. Xander has quite literally lived in his own hell, losing his dad before he was born, then his mum to his abusive stepfather and going through daily torment at the hand of the school bullies. Years of attempting to take his own life in a private game of Russian roulette has left Xander feel

For years, Xander Stryker has yearned for a death that has always escaped him. The abuse his stepfather inflicted on him has followed him wherever he goes and the memories full of pain and heartache refuse to leave him. Every moment of every day, he's forced to remember things he's tried so very hard forget. Things his shattered mind knows he never had a chance in preventing. His only solace is that his step-father is dead and he needn't put up with the abuse any longer. Or so he thinks.

Crimson Shadow: Noir is an incredibly dark tale about the story of Xander Stryker. As an origins story, I was deeply moved by Xander's struggles. The book starts right up where we're taken into the Xander's world and his nightly rituals with a pair of custom revolvers and his ritualistic game of russian roulette.

After reading that scene, I admit that the dark elements of Xander's life were really unsettling and this story is definitely not for the faint of heart.

However, once you delve deeper i

I was given this book in return for an honest review. Xander Styker is a teen who has been abused by his stepfather and his classmates his whole life. The rage that burns inside of him and the self destructive behavior he exhibits, makes you want to take him home with you. I fell in love with the kid right from the start, I love an underdog. Crimson Shadow is not the kind of book I normally read. While it is paranormal my usual vices are of the romantic kind, such as House of Night, Twilight, True Blood... I always will take and someday read ANYTHING to do with vampires. Reviewing this book is hard because I keep wanting to review the author. Which I might do at a later date.
Crimson Shadow has that edge of your seat, late night wild ride feel through the whole book. You get hooked from page one by not just the plot which in itself

A Review of Crimson Shadow by Nathan Squiers

A vampire tale without sparkles, undying love and the harsh reality of pain, betrayal and witnessing horror. The empowerment of the supernatural and loads of action are contained in this read. Again, the author displays a skill with the pen that is excellent.

This is not my type of read as I lean towards the romantic and fantastical with happy endings - I believe that the world is harsh and cruel enough at times and prefer escaping that. This book did

Crimson Shadow Noir definitely delivers the dark! Xander Stryker is a tormented soul that wraps around your heart and makes you want to lash out at those that want to hurt him. He's not your typical hero, he's better than that, he's dark and tortured by a past he can't escape and yet uses that dark and that abuse to make himself stronger, better, more fierce. He goes after those that abuse and bully and he fights to make the world a better place, though I don't think Xander would look at it that ...more

I have to be honest. When I started this book i almost didn't finish it. However after being told to put it down and try again at a later time I was finally able to finish the book and it was good. Granted it started out a little bit to choppy for my taste but after a while it got better.
