Let me just start this review by saying THIS BOOK ROCKS!!!
I so love this one....to be totally honest I really liked its plot from the first time I saw it so I've been waiting for this ever since..but a little part of me is afraid cause that time all the books I've read is either the plot is too much it became boring or the plot is good but the book is not.... and I really really don't want to ruin my good views in this book.....but still I tried and I'm so glad I did. the story started from the...more Let me just start this review by saying THIS BOOK ROCKS!!!
I so love this one....to be totally honest I really liked its plot from the first time I saw it so I've been waiting for this ever since..but a little part of me is afraid cause that time all the books I've read is either the plot is too much it became boring or the plot is good but the book is not.... and I really really don't want to ruin my good views in this book.....but still I tried and I'm so glad I did. the story started from the very first page no more shenanigans just straight to the very point so it doesn't become boring and still left me wanting to turn the page faster and faster but still savor the happenings I love PHEONIX she's not like any other heroine cause even though she has two hot guys at her beck and call she doesn't drool over them both although she has some slight feelings for LUKA she still know whom she really truly love and sadly that's DEMETRI..(sorry guys but I'm team LUKA )(but hey I don't have an issue with the other guy...he's still hot you know)
and the two guys oh how can I even start with them...(sigh) they're just so damn irresistible and total opposite...the other is serious and gloomy (ok not that gloomy but a little) and of course my beloved LUKA the easy outgoing
mischievous type I thought when I first read about DEMETRI I will surely love him but oh I was very very wrong cause when LUKA was introduced I forgot all coherent thoughts and my mind went blank.....totally blank nothing else but the name LUKA etched in my mind and I started tearing pages where he's not there (okay not really but close) I just so love him.....and my heart ache for him everytime PHEONIX went into DEMETRI'S arms instead of his.....(sob)....
But nonetheless I was engrossed in every page of this book and I love how the author managed to add some Filipino touch in it just like the kikaron which is called chicharon in the Philippines and I presume its the same.
I just love authors like KATE ....and her idea of the book is unique...ZOMBIE that rots I would probably expect
but ZHAMVY that looks like Gods and Goddesses, no I will definitely not be able to think of that .... Actually when I read the plot I really thought It was about vampires but KATE wanted to have her very own creatures and it was brilliant....My only complaint in this book is that it isn't a series which I so so so wish it was.....cause really I'd love
to see more of them particularly LUKA....
but I'm sure you will truly love it guys this one book will surely rock your world!!!!!

The moment I started reading Taste, I couldn't put it down. It was a total page-turner book that kept me awake until past 3 in the morning! It was engrossing and very captivating.

The story started when Phoenix McKay accidentally broke the one and only rule at Barinkoff Academy: No students on campus after curfew. Falling asleep at the library isn't a good thing after all. Now she must face her fate as the last bell chimed in and she was left trapped inside the campus with the Night Students. But it seems that all the luck in the world suddenly bestowed upon her! Who wouldn't want to be saved by a mysterious but oh-so-gorgeous, overall swoon-worthy and not to mention hot (as in literally hot!) guy Demitri? The guy who happens to appear out of nowhere every time she needs of saving. I wouldn't care being left at the academy with this drool-worthy-kind of guy (*giggling*). All of sudden, Phoenix's sad and hollow life was thrown into the magnificent yet strange world of the flesh-eaters--beautiful, almost cut to perfection--each of them exudes a deliciously unique smell--they called themselves "zhamvys". And Phoenix might just be the one they need to survive.

I cannot love a book with weak, not to mention annoying characters. For me to really enjoy the story, the characters should be likable at least. But in this case, I didn't have any issues at all. From the time Phoenix had spoken in my head when I started this book, I immediately liked her. She has the brain (since Barinkoff only accept students with exceptional intelligence) and she definitely has the gut to be called "heroine". She doesn't annoy me even the tiniest bit and that's totally a big deal to me. Her wit and humor always left me grinning like crazy and she didn't fail to amaze me. And then there's Demitri. He's strong (and hot), dependable (and hot), handsome (and hot), and ever-devoted to his people (and hot!). He's also a mysterious and frustrating kind of guy, but there was something deep within his cold persona--characteristics that only add to his hotness. Yeah, you really should meet this guy! But oh, there's Luka! It seems that Taste isn't contented on giving the readers one hot guy (did I just say hot again?) and it gives us two! Just when I thought I want Demitri ~~for myself~~ for Phoenix, Luka came into the picture. The mystery that surrounds his character seems dark but who can't give a beautiful boy the benefit of the doubt? With his playful and carefree spirit, he tried to overshadow his true self--the depth of his soul and the goodness in his heart. Who's the guy to root for? I loved Demitri but I also loved Luka, and then *confusion* but then Demitri won over in the end. It was hard to choose between two great guys.

I have a heart for Dray, too. The guy who mean well for the zhamvy people even if risking his life was one way to do it. Obviously, Kate Evangelista crafted not only one or two amazing characters but a lot more. There are people to hate but more people to love. I want to see them again in her future books. I let them in and I'm glad I did!

Readers who hate slow beginning will appreciate this book. The excitement I felt from the start lasted up to the time I closed the book. The pacing of the story was perfect. There was no boring parts but only heart-thumping ones. The author was never out of surprises. She had completely blown me away with her unexpected revelations. I was so curious about the story especially the secrets behind Demitri and Luka's characters, but the author never left my questions unanswered. Kudos to the author, she gave me lots of open-mouthed moments! Well, I guess my curiosity paid off (*grins*).  

The awesome characters, the beautiful setting, the unique and original story, the romance that will make your knees wobble, and the unexpected ending that will make you smile and dream and swoon--What's not to love? Let this book blow your mind away. Kate Evangelista has written an extraordinary story that is beautiful, engaging and totally delicious. I absolutely loved it! She nailed every aspect of this book. I tasted and devoured it. It left me satisfied, but then again, it made me hungry for more.(less)

Phoenix is a junior attending the famous Barinkoff Academy, home to only the most intelligent and wealthy students from around the world, which has one rule...students are not allowed on the premise after nightfall.

Phoenix is most definitely not a rule-breaker, or at least not on purpose. And yet, after falling asleep in the library, she finds herself racing to BA's front doors until the last school bell chimes away her school career. Knowing that her expulsion is sealed, she finds herself wandering the hallway and runs into the exceptionally beautiful and bizarre Night Students.

Here is where the story really begins, allowing us to learn (albeit slowly) of these students supernatural nature, meet two sexy and very interested "men" and watch as Phoenix is showed the path to healing.

Although I really enjoyed this book, it's missing a star because of a two things. One, the story moved much too slowly at the beginning. I wasn't really captivated until about 40 percent through, but once I got there, I blew through this book, enjoying the ride Ms. Evangelista took me on. Also, I didn't really connect with Phoenix. I HAD to keep reading, wanting to smack her a few good times to get her head on straight, but she ended up really growing on me.

With that, there was some awesomeness that occurred. I have an *official* fictional character crush on both Demitri and Luka. I basically love them and would totally play on that field. While very different, each is well represented with clear-as-mud sexy intentions that I just drooled over. I also really loved mad-scientist Dray - he was special-cakes. Oh oh and Luka's sister was awesome too. *sigh* I loved so many characters, even (and especially) the naughty ones!

Moreover, the conflict throughout was believable - and it's really what captivated me. I loved the multitude of problems and the clever stacking of layers that Ms. Evangelista manipulated, giving them more depth and realistic reliability. I mostly wanted MORE! Give me MORE BOOK! *Cookie Monster voice*

I really hope that we are going to get a series from Kate, but if not, this book does end clearly. If there is another, it will definitely be on my to-read shelf.

Ok this isn't a vampire books. It's a "sexy men who eat flesh, crave flesh, desire flesh...blah blah flesh." I had a total creep factor come to life...in this book. I did enjoy it, and have no buyers regret. But eating flesh. (*Screams shrilly and pulls hair while running through the house turning all the lights on*) I hate things eating flesh.

Um. Hm. I'm at a loss for words (and it's not the good kind).

WHAT I LIKED:

Taste actually had a unique paranormal twist!

I come into this book expecting vampires galore, but I was completely wrong! (And so far off...) I love it when books surprise me like this, and this twist was pretty refreshing to read about than the usual angels, werewolves, etc.

OK, so this book definitely draws readers in from page one - you're plunged right into the middle of the mind of this feisty, stubborn, funny, borderline irritating girl (named after a mythological bird, no less - in actual fact, I didn't love her name at first, but I think it's kinda growing on me). And we find our Phoenix trapped in a pretty unique situation on the first couple of pages.

OK, so this book definitely draws readers in from page one - you're plunged right into the middle of the mind of this feisty, stubborn, funny, borderline irritating girl (named after a mythological bird, no less - in actual fact, I didn't love her name at first, but I think it's kinda growing on me). And we find our Phoenix trapped in a pretty unique situation on the first couple of pages.

To say it took me a while to adjust to this world would be an understatement. The idea of flesh-eaters turned me off completely. This might have a few things to do with what's been transpiring in the Land of America lately, though. But as I went on, I developed a kind of tolerance for it, and thankfully not much flesh-ripping was occurring so I was safe-ish.

What I really enjoyed about Taste was the true escapism that it brought. It admittedly didn't have the strongest writing, but honestly, who cares? Sometimes, you don't need stellar style for the purposes of pure entertainment. So, yeah, at times, the dialogue made me cringe, and, at times, the decisions the characters made were pretty face-palm worthy, but it's all good now; I'm feeling pretty satisfied with that little roller coaster ride.

A high point? The world-building. It was super-strong, and lended massively to the escapist aspect that I loved. Chock-full of political intrigue and power play, brooding princes, tortured princes, forbidden love, and adorable siblings (I do love tight-knit families, especially royal families). And who doesn't love a fascinating, compelling place you can set your wildest dreams in? Hmm... speaking of dreamy, that brings me to... The characters. Oh wow, they were a pretty cliched bunch of characters, but boundless fun nonetheless. The chemistry was off the charts between certain characters (and not just our pilot couple either) and the only real disappointment I felt as I finished was that, surely there had to me more! This couldn't be the last we'd see of them!! But, sadly, we were forcibly removed from each other's company. So I really have to praise Kate Evangelista for a great job on making her characters so amazing. You know the formula. Great characters = great book.

If Evangelista were to put out more books as enjoyable as this was for me on the Friday before a maelstrom of exams, I will be a very happy girl indeed.(less)

Well, this book was a pleasant surprise for me. I wasn't expecting that much on this one and to be honest I had some doubt I'd end up really enjoying it. The characters and the world Kat created were indeed a very unique and fantastic and I'm happy to say that I enjoyed reading this book.

I first thought this was a vampire book thus explaining my doubt. I was surprised when the world was finally described and explained that I realized how interesting and fascinating it was. It wasn't really a vampire world but a world of "Zhyamvys" or "zombies" as we humans, according to the book, bastartized it. It was rather a fascinating idea - good looking zombies, smart and civilized than just the brain eater we always thought of. It was quite captivating and absorbing to explore this unique world Kat created.

Phoenix, our main character discovered the existence of the Zhamvys when she accidentally overslept in the library of her school pass the curfew. Her curiosity still brought her to discover more of the world of Zhamvy and soon found herself helping some of them in this dangerous secret that might kill this ancient civilization that lived underneath her school.I didn't get well with Phoenix right away. I was actually pretty annoyed with her and some of her actions. Her curiosity I understand but she was impatient and reckless and although those could be appealing attributes on some characters, it felt quite annoying on her. Although as the story went on I saw parts of her that is good and kind and impressive, like when she agreed to help Dray to look for a cure for his people because she understood how it felt not to able to do anything to someone you love. She agreed even if it was dangerous and did extreme sacrifices. In the end, I think she did grow on me.

Now onto the other main character and the love interest, Demitri. Well, there's a reason why I still haven't read Vampire Academy, Wanderlove and why I didn't continue the Faeriewalker series.

Long-haired guys.

I know, I know. Shallow it is. Don't get angry at me but they were just never my type and it turns me off quite majorly whenever I encounter one. However, after reading this I realized that it wasn't really that hard to imagine them to be short-haired. Lol! Seriously, that's the only way I know how I'll be able to continue reading this and still really like it. So in the end, I was actually able to like Demitri genuinely. And yes, I also did think he was sexy.

Although I liked the overall, I was a little disappointed with the ending. It felt kinda rush, even some other parts of the book but it was the ending that I wish had been elaborated more. Nonetheless, I think this is a pretty great debut novel and really fantastic for a one-shot paranormal book albeit a little formulaic and predictable at times. I wouldn't mind if there will be a second book actually (or a companion book about Luca). I enjoyed this and I guess it's pretty safe to recommend this.

Taste is a very intriguing book. My initial guess was Taste is going to be another cliched and boring vampire book BUT it is not about vampires nor was it cliche and boring. Far from it actually. Taste is about a student, Phoenix, who accidentally discovers a community of flesh eaters or what the story called Zhamvy. Zhamvies (is that the right term) is a secluded and ancient community of flesh eaters wherein Zombies are derived from. The main difference is that the former are sophisticated and the more polished variety. Basically zombies who are a notch higher. More like a cross between a vampire and a zombie - that's what I pictures actually.

From my past reviews, you all know I hate a book that lacks a good solid background simply because it is confusing and it can be very frustrating not knowing what the story really is about. The deal with Taste is, and this is what I love about it too, the facts about Zhamvies or the important details as a whole was incorporated throughout the novel. There wasn't any informational dumping at the first few chapters, I so hate that. It wasn't lacking as well. It was a well balanced and well thought incorporation of details that worked really well overall.

Characters were very interesting. First we have Phoenix. What I love and hate about Phoenix is that she's intelligent and strong yet very stubborn. Her headstrong attitude made her a great lead however her stubbornness helped pushed the story. Her stubbornness actually was the reason why we learn some important details in the story. Next we have Demitri and Luka. To be honest between the two, I enjoyed and loved Luka's character more than Demitri. I don't know but I end up always liking and rooting for the underdog for love triangles.

Although the angle with Luka was subtle and was evident that Demitri would be the guy, I love his and Phoenix's chemistry more than that of Demitri. It's not that I didn't enjoy the Phoenix - Demitri angle, its just that I enjoyed Phoenix with Luka more. Luka is a mysterious yet a playful/mischievous character. He is the type of boyfriend that you can be comfortable and goof around with. Demitri on the other hand is Luka's complete opposite. He is mature with a uber serious attitude and has a strong presence - very macho for me. Overall the characters were well written and complimented the whole story and gave more dimension to the plot as a whole. No weak links whatsoever.

The Zhamvy community and concept was definitely a treat for me. It is not your over the top creepy and disgusting usual version of flesh eaters but they still give you that creepiness vibe that you want in a book like Taste. The flow of the story and pacing was never sluggish and for me it was actually a fast read especially for a book that is more than a 150 pages. If a story, not under 150 pages, can be read in one sitting then that means that the story is engaging and very entertaining plus the fact that Kate can really write. Her style is easy to adapt and I love how descriptive and vivid her details can be.

To close this review, Taste is a fantastic story that mixes paranormal with a little romance and a dash of horror. The ending is definitely the cherry on top after reading such an engrossing story and I can vouch for this book to be a recommend-worthy material. Totally enjoyed it! Would have loved to read this in paperback though rather than in my Nook cause this deserves a spot in my shelf - now need to find a copy. :P(less)

I'm gonna be honest, I was over the whole supernatural being stories and so over vampire stories but I was intrigued with reading this book when I found out it was about zombies. I am so glad I gave it a chance and read it......it was so good and kept me captivated through the entire book.

I absolutely enjoyed reading this book.It was very intriguing.Kate puts a new spin on what we refer to as "zombies" also know as "flesh eaters".I have read a few books with zombies in the but not one that wholey about zombies.I heard good thins about this book and wanted to see for my self what all the rave was about. Phoenix is a very trouble and broken girl,who is thrust into a world that is dangerous. Once she sees part of that world she is curios to know more. She runs into some "Night Students",when so accidentally ends up on campus after curfew.Why are their "Night Students" when no one is suppose to be on campus after curfew?Why do they keep making references to tasting me?
Phoenix is a very dynamic character.She has a hard time with authority and lets whatever she is thinking slip out of her month.Inside is she broken and alone,but refuses to let anyone get close enough to penetrate the wall she has put around her heart.Once she is in Zhamvy City she must learn to watch what she says and decide if she will let someone in and if she does just who that someone will be.
Dimitri and Luka are almost total opposites but both want the same thing,Phoenix. Phoenix is instantly drawn to Dimitri who is a lot like her.They are both stubborn and go head to head in an argument. Dimitri,though he wishes to give into his desires,pushes those though selfish wants aside to fulfill his duty to his people.While Luka is the playful guy who doesn't always play by the rules.He is just as broken as she is. Luka runs from duty instead of embracing it.Dray believes he can use Phoenix to save his people but that may come at a higher price than any of them are willing to pay.Can she help Luka overcome his inner turmoil without falling for him .Can she help save a kingdom from dying without causing chaos that could tear it apart? Will she give her heart to Dimitri, Luka,or no one because she believes she is too broken to love and be loved?

I received a copy of TASTE for the blog tour hosted by Author's Angels.

This is a very unique story. It took me a little while to get into the storyline, but once I did it was hard to put it down. The world building is well done and Kate's take on the supernatural will certainly hold your attention. One of the things I most enjoyed about the book was the suspense. She does a great job of providing you with just enough information that you want to keep going. The world building is well done and Kate's take on the supernatural will certainly hold your attention. One of the things I most enjoyed about the book was the suspense. She does a great job of providing you with just enough information that you want to keep going. Sometimes when I read a paranormal or urban fantasy book it's like once you discover the "others" than an info dump. Kate doesn't do that at all. She intersperses little tidbits here and there.

Phoenix was an interesting character. Her personality was very much along the lines of "curiosity killed the cat." It's hard to get used to because you want to shake her as she continues to get in trouble. At the heart of Phoenix is a girl that just wants to help. Seeing a glimpse of that helps make her character easier to relate to and understand.

Luca and Demitri are like two sides of a coin. This is a love-triangle, but there are some differences. Her feelings for one are definitely stronger than the other. Of course it's always kind of refreshing, in my opinion, to watch a guy chase the girl. I think if I had to pick one of the two I'd want someone in the middle. Demitri is very reserved and loyal. Committed to his perceived duty. He's fighting himself because while he knows what he has to do, it's not what he WANTS to do. I enjoyed watching as Phoenix did what she could to help him out. Luca is the free-spirit on the outside and dedicated behind closed doors. Which works, because he couldn't do what he needed to do if the public saw the real Luca.

I really want to talk about the take on the paranormal that Kate took with this book, but it's pretty much a spoiler for everything. However, I will say this...no vampires or werewolves.

If you like New Adult and you like a twist on paranormal...then this is a book I'd recommend! (less)

I FELL IN LOVE with this book. Read it in one day, just could not put it down. The author has given me a diffrent side to paranormal books! This book is not a vampire, werewolf, witch book which is one reason I love it!

The main character Phoenix is strong, a little sarcastic, and seems real. She is curious by nature and refuses to let things go. You will fall in love with her as you read this book. When reading this book I felt like i was on a rollarcoaster along with Phoenix.

HOLD UP! Before i go any farther I need to state that the boys in this book are DREAMY. Demitri and Lucas AHHH love them both! of course i loved Demitri a bit more even though I wanted to personally smack him a few times.

But basically Phonenix goes to school and has a curfew. One night she falls asleep in the library and wakes up when the bell starts going off signifying that curfew is in a few moments. She freaks and runs to try to get back to her dorm on time. Obviously she dosent make it in time and she stumbles and finds the gorgous and mysterious night students. One of the night students, Eli, threatens to eat her flesh and then she is saved by the wonderful Demitri! He saves her and returens her safely to her dorm making her promise never to be late for curfew again.. of course this only sparks phoenixs interests and she has to return to figure out exactly what the night students are. With that phoenix slowly is thrown into Demitris world. Dray, Demitris brother ends up making Phoenix one of them in order to help save their kind and from there on out you are on a rollar coaster ride descovering the rules of their worlds, their history, struggles, and you begin to fall in love with Phoenix, Demitri, and Lucas.

I was given the opportunity to read Taste for an honest review of the book. I jumped at the chance as I had seen the book and it sounded intriguing. The plot revolves around a female student named Phoenix who discovers that her boarding school is harboring a society of zombies, formally Zhamvy. Phoenix’s curiosity of the Zhamvy and of the boy who rescues her from said zombies, Demitri, leads her to sneak into the school after hours to learn more about this secret society. With her life in danger...more I was given the opportunity to read Taste for an honest review of the book. I jumped at the chance as I had seen the book and it sounded intriguing. The plot revolves around a female student named Phoenix who discovers that her boarding school is harboring a society of zombies, formally Zhamvy. Phoenix’s curiosity of the Zhamvy and of the boy who rescues her from said zombies, Demitri, leads her to sneak into the school after hours to learn more about this secret society. With her life in danger she agrees to help them with a medical experiment to help determine what is plaguing their existence, all while in the middle of a love triangle with two princes no less.
Although I do give Ms. Evangelista props for coming up with a different concept from vampires, angels or werewolves in her choice of zombies, other than diet, they really aren’t that much different. They are superior to humans as they are very strong, have excellent senses, are extremely good looking and age 1 year to a human’s 50 years. The Zhamvy are “vegetarians” due to an edict issue 600 year prior after a plague almost killed the human s and in turn, the Zhamvy’s. So as it turns out, Phoenix really isn’t in that much danger as the penalty for “tasting” a human is severe. She is in danger however as a participant in a medical experiment that if discovered would expose that the “vegan” diet is having a detrimental effect on the survival of the race.
The pace of the book is good and the characters are well defined. I enjoyed that although there is a love triangle, it is clear where Phoenix’s heart truly is with. Other reviewers have said they didn’t like Phoenix’s choices, but I thought Ms. Evangelista laid the foundation to understand Phoenix’s personality. Her mother has died, she has serious daddy issues, she does not like to be told no, she has been kicked out of previous schools, so it wasn’t a surprise that she charged ahead when she was told to stay away from the Zhamvys. The author would also have Phoenix herself question her own choices so I wasn’t the only one asking what she was doing.
The thing that bothered me about the book (and this may be nitpicking) was that the Zhamvy’s diet is threatening their survival. They only stopped eating humans due to a plague that disappeared 600 years ago. Isn’t the solution to the problem obvious? What is proposed in the story is certainly more humane, but to me it does not make sense. To explain further would give too much away, but I wish she gave a better answer to that. Maybe book two will delve into it more.
Overall, I gave it 4 stars, but it is really more of 3.5.

As with many self-published books, there were frequent grammar issues. Looking back at my notes, I laughed when I saw two other things that bugged me: one was a girl who is supposedly 12 (in human years) wearing 6-inch heels. The other was Phoenix saying “The last thing I wanted was to think of Preya as a double cheeseburger.” Preya is her roommate. Her INDIAN roommate. I wrote “Culturally insensitive?” You decide.

This was a hard book for me, mainly because of the subject matter. I can’t explain it, exactly; I have read all sorts of books about monsters and vampires and etc., but for some reason, I had to forget what these people actually do in order to read it. It’s not like it grossed me out, exactly, but it was, I guess, weird. I did enjoy reading the book. The writing was pretty well crafted, the story was different and the characters were interesting and believable. Now I’m hungry for pork rinds.

This book was good, like REALLY GOOD! I just can’t get over just how amazing this book was! But, for the sake of this review, I will hold my insanity in and just continue.

Demitri: He was pretty awesome and I loved that he didn't have insta-love right when he saw Phoenix, but let it simmer before things heated up.(Oh, boy did they!) BUT, he was weirdly controlling at times which could be chalked up to the archaic ways of his people, i guess...

The Romance:
Besides the accursed love triangle, it was pretty good. Right from the beginning, you knew who the girl would end up with. It was so obvious yet pointless at parts when they were "separated" because you would just KNOW already who would end up together.
Both the males in question were HAWT! I'm not quite convinced about Demitri's shoulder length hair thought, that's pretty iffy. But LUKA! Right from the start, I thought he was the sexiest thing ever. He kinda reminded me of Jace, which is one of the biggest compliments you can tell someone, fyi :)

Overall Impression:
This had everything you could possibly want in a novel. A strong heroine, hawt HAWT guys, evil villians, evil hawt guys, evil not hawt guys, mad scientists, adorable 12 year olds, exiled kings, crazy friends, and strong wills. The list goes on and on but you gotta stop somewhere.
I didn’t think I would love this much but here I am :)
Right from the start, this book drew me in so I had no choice but to stay up late and constantly read this book like a madman. It was just so addicting! Usually, even the best book fails to catch my attention, in at least one part of the book, but no such thing ever happened in this book! I would would put it down for a second, (a girl’s gotta eat), and my thoughts would just keep flickering back to NEEDING this book. So, point to be noted, don’t try reading this book in segments, that’s simply not possible. The second you sink your teeth into it, you’re gonaa devour it!

My advice to you: READ THIS BOOK! You will NOT be sorry!

Taste really has a way of drawing the reader in. I was completely engrossed in this story and found myself feeling the emotions of the characters and I even shed a tear or two which was very unexpected. I felt a connection to all of the characters, particularly the protagonist, Phoenix, in a way that I haven't felt whilst reading a book in a very long time. The characters are all compelling, particularly Phoenix, Demetri and Luka. All three of these characters have some sort of deep emotional baggage which makes them all the more intriguing. All the boys in the novel sound devastatingly beautiful and the description is superb. In my mind's eye I can perfectly imagine each and every character because of the intricate and detailed writing.

The writing brought out real emotions in me and had my heart pounding, my stomach squirming and my fingers tingling with every word I read. The romance in Taste was electrifying and I could feel shivers through my body as I was reading certain passages. The chemistry between the two protagonists is undeniable though my one criticism would be that at the beginning of the novel it wasn't made clear which boy she was fated to be with. For some people this will be a good thing, but, personally, I would've preferred it if there had been a little less confusion.

With most paranormal romances, I can see the end coming a mile off, and even though the ending of Taste wasn't that surprising, I still didn't see it coming because my mind was too engrossed in thinking and being the characters. This story is new and unique and I had no idea what to expect from it. The plot was constantly twisting and turning in a series of unpredictable events that had me gripped from the onset. Kate Evangelista has created a completely new world that you yearn to learn more about

It was really refreshing to read a YA Paranormal Romance that didn't have vampires or werewolves in it and I commend the author for her originality. In addition, both the cover and the title really suit this book and make it look like a really interesting read, and it is even better on the inside! This is an absolute must read for any teen with an interest in the paranormal romance. Kate Evangelista has another three upcoming YA books that I can't wait to get my hands on as I'm sure they'll be just as electrifying, if not more.

The story is based on a young girl who has been sent to a boarding school by her father after the passing of her mother. One evening, she misses curfew and ends up discovering an entirely different race of beings, which she becomes a part of.

Of course in the last few years, bookstore shelves have been inundated with this genre, which I don’t think is a bad thing as it gets young people reading, and this story will do exactly that. That being said, the story is not overly unique, BUT that did not make it any less of an entertaining story.

The character development was great, and I found myself rooting for one character in particular. This seems to be another trend in novels, yeah I was team Jacob…team Peeta…and I’m sure the next novel I read were the heroin is loved by two different, yet equally gorgeous men…I’ll be cheering for the underdog.

All in all this was a fun and exciting read. Nothing overly deep, a story you could sit back in the sun with and escape to a world of romance, adventure, and sexy flesh eating creatures.

The action in Taste starts from page one and doesn’t let down until all is well in Zhamvy-town. Packed with excitement, mystery, supernatural hunks and danger, Taste has everything I love in a novel. Kate Evangelista brings the hidden realm beneath Barinkoff School to life with such skill I wouldn’t be surprised if it really existed…(and if it does, I’m getting a Zhamvy of my very own;) Likable, relatable characters and a keep-you-guessing plot make this well written novel a very Tasty treat.(less)
