I picked up this book after reading Calling the Show by the same author. While the light and humorous tone is fun, the BDSM content is still a bit too much for my taste. Thus, I like it less than "Calling ..."

Let's see, what do I like? The idea of learning your partner's life by body switching. ALTHOUGH, I must say that I'm a bit baffled with how easy breezy both characters are when they realize they are switching bodies. I will FREAK OUT that's for sure. This one, they take it lightly,...more

My favorite BDSM book, hands down.
I don't read many BDSM stories, and I only liked a handful of those I've read. But this? Loved it! Oh, so much!
The idea of a dom/sub body switch is one of the most hilarious things I've ever heard of. And this book wasn't only funny, but also sweet, romantic and very well written. I just loved both Jayk and Amon. They were so perfect for each other.

I absolutely recommend Wacky Wednesday, even if you don't read/like BDSM!

Waking up in your partners body could freak someone out, but not Jayk. He took it all in stride, even going so far as leaving for work without letting Amon know that they have switched bodies. Thinking that his life was stressful, and that Amon was spending too much time at work just playing around, Jayk doesn’t see a problem in going to work for him. Let’s just hope that Jayk doesn’t upset Amon’s work life too much.

Amon awoke realizing that he was in Jayk’s body, but he figured it Jayk wasn’t...more

How would you reacted if you woke up as your lover and vice versa? Would you freak or take it in stride?

Amon and Jayk woke up as each other. This can't be good, right?
Amon is the sturdy, put together, mature one and Jayk is the free spirit who is just trying to find his place in the world.

These two were slowly falling apart. One trying to change the other to be what he thinks the other wants to be but is tearing the other down. Amon only wants the best for Jayk but Jayk doesn't see it that way...more

This story reminded me of the movie Freaky Friday, but only much better. I guess it was written with a wink to the movie. In any case, Wacky Wednesday drops right smack in the middle of both an established relationship and the switched-bodies situation.

When Jayk wakes up on Wednesday morning, all excited for Luciana Diamente’s Dungeon Party, it’s not in his own body, but that of his partner and Dom, Amon. Instead of freaking out, he just goes with it, thinking Amon...more

Awe! What an ending :)
Truly loved this book!

Jayk (Love the spelling of his name!) woke up feeling a little... bigger than normal - At first he didn't know what was going on, but once he figured out he was looking at his own body laying next to him, he couldn't help the smile. Being Amon for a day was going to be GREAT!

Trying to wake up Amon without success, Jayk went to work - Amon's work. Because that's where his body and face was expected.

When Amon woke up and noticed his body was differen...more

This book is a recommendation of my lovely friend Tharayn. Thank you girl!

When Jayk wakes up on a Wednesday morning - all excited for a Dungeon Party - it’s not in his own body, but that of his partner and Dom, Amon and... vice versa.

After the first shock they think it's refreshing to step in each others shoes for some time. Jayk and Amon both think the others life is so much easier. But in the course of a day, with many hilarious and sometimes serious situations, they don't believe that anymore...more

What a great and entertaining to book to read! WACKY WEDNESDAY by J.A. Rock is reminiscent of the classic movie, FREAKY FRIDAY, where a daughter and mother wake-up only to discover they had switch bodies. J.A. Rock's rendition is a bit more risque using a male/male BDSM relationship where the DOM/sub wake-up (on a Wednesday...hence the title)and realize that they have mysteriously switched bodies. The situations that the two main characters, Jayk and Amon, find themselves in while trying to fake...more

You know those books where you're going to read just one chapter before you fall asleep? And suddenly it's 3 o'clock in the morning and your alarm is going off in 2 hours because you're on an early start, and hell, there's no point even trying to go to sleep now because you'd rather know what happens, and you'll deal with the no-sleep-zombie fallout when it happens? Wacky Wednesday is one of those books.

The premise isn't original at all -- two people who sometimes fail to see eye to eye are mag...more

3.5 stars. Rounded up for Goodreads, because it was so much fun.

This short novel kept me smiling the whole time I was reading it. The body swap plot device is hardly new, but its execution in Wacky Wednesday is clever, heartwarming, and often laugh-out-loud funny. Less adventurous readers should be warned that this book features a domestic discipline relationship, but the BDSM elements are fairly light and fit both the characters and their relationship very well.

Both of the characters are wonder...more

This book made me laugh. A lot.

Jayk Parker is a college student and a brat. He lives in a domestic discipline (DD) relationship with Amon Monterey a 40 year old HR Director and his top. They've been together for two years but things have been a bit shaky since Jayk has been struggling at school and Amon distracted and overwhelmed at work. After a blazing fight the men go to sleep and wake up the next day in opposite bodies à la Freaky Friday.

Part of the charm of this story for me was the simpl...more

4.5 stars. What a delightful read! This book reminded me a lot of Fabian Black's domestic discipline books with a nice storyline involving the couple, their DD relationship and some good bits of humor. We have the tough, serious top and the younger, brattier sub who just needs the top's guiding hand - in more ways than one :) I liked how the sex scenes were a bit more detailed than in Fabian's books. Overall, I really enjoyed this book. This is the 2nd book I've read by the author and I've reall...more

Another really good read. I won this on a contest on the author's blog. On the face of it, the plot (body swap) is a bit disney-esque, but the story read really well and didnt fall into silly. With alternating chapters with each main character (and titled) it was fairly easy to know who you were with. It was a story of the two men accepting the other for the things that annoyed them as much as for the things they really loved - done as the body swap obviously made for comic turns and major fubar...more

I really loved this story even though D/s is soooooooo not my kink. I even had to look up the meaning of a DD relationship. Anyway, this was a fun read with a lot of laugh out loud moments.

Unexpectedly funny and charming. Amon and Jayk are in a domestic discipline relationship but they've been miscommunicating more than usual lately. After a particularly rough day, they wake up in each other's bodies and hilarity ensues. The story is told in alternating first-person point of view, and Jayk's narrative is especially delightful. He's a cheeky brat, whereas Amon is the strong, dommy type. I really liked that the story drops us in the middle of an established relationship; the main ch...more

Very well done adaptation of the Freaky Friday - type story to a BDSM relationship. Things have been rough lately for D/s couple Amon (a stern HR executive) and Jayk (a young wayward college student). But one morning they wake up in the other man's body and much drama, soul-searching, and hilarity ensues.

I picked this up after enjoying another of J.A. Rock's books, Calling the Show. This book (Wacky Wednesday) is so well written! Sparkling with humour and loaded with affection for the two MC's....more

This review was originally written for The Romance Reviews and can also be found there.

WACKY WEDNESDAY is a refreshing and really funny story about two men in a relationship switching bodies for a day. If you've seen the movie Freaky Friday, you will probably notice the similarities, but one thing the movie didn't have was the element of domestic discipline.

Jayk is a brat in a relationship with an older man, Amon, and lately he's been feeling the strain between them. Amon is taking all of it a b...more

Loved this! Sexy, adorable, and funny.

Having grown up in a somewhat abusive household, where I spent a lot of my time filled with a nauseating sense of dread, the idea of a domestic discipline relationship has never sat well with me. To each his/her own, but not really my cuppa. Well, this book, which was written with a distinctly humorous tone, yes, finally helped me get it. Why someone would need that kind of relationship and why someone else would want to be the disciplinarian. It's not abou...more

True story: I sat down at 3pm with a way-too-early screwdriver and this book. After alternately laughing my ass off and saying OUT LOUD, "Unf" on and off, I finished the book, looked up, and saw that it was now 6pm.... and I had eaten this book whole.

Okay. So first, let me be technical. When I read By His Rules, the thing that really struck me was the effortless but judicious use of PoV. That goes for this book, too. It's alternating 1st person between Jayk and Amon--clearly and intelligently de...more

Straight to the favorites list. Yep. This one's a keeper!

Wacky Wednesday is hilarious and heart warming at the same time. I was seriously LOL'ing all over the place. The reactions the guys had to being in different bodies were funny, not over the top, and so dead bang on you could completely picture it in your head. What they learned about the other while in the switched body changed the relationship and gave new perspective.

I liked how the DD was portrayed and the fact they incorporate some re...more

Loved it.

A Top and a brat relationship that was totally plausible.

Did not get lost in the paranormal aspect of the body switch.

Freakin' hilarious but believable fuckery in the situations... The tie and how he just runs from the meeting. Epic fuckery.

Through all the fun and sexiness, there was some deep soul searching and discovery in a surprisingly short, but complete little gem.

On the reread shelf.

Not bad. I think I actually quite liked it.

It seems pretty standard fare. I mean, it's pm just Freaky Friday in m/m form *shrug.

A couple moments squicked me a bit, but not majorly.

And Emma, again, says a lot stuff I agree with.

I just realized today's Wednesday. Which means I read this on a Wednesday. ...Hitsuzen strikes again...

It's that kind of book you read, enjoy ...and forget. I liked it, it was funny, for my liking a bit too close to the kind of "nearly embarrassing" funny. Thankfully, most of the akward moments were solved before they got even worse and the book defintely benefitted from the many retrospects.
So - in the end the day in the others skin helped to focus again and everybody is happy. Yeah, me, too.

I really liked the book on a whole. It had a great story line with good emotion behind the characters, but I did have one issue with the story. When the characters swapped they seemed to take on each others more dominant or submissive characteristics when with each other to easily. It did not seem very realistic to me.

Not very original, but surprisingly well-used theme. Sweet, funny, with two great characters that learn to walk in each others shoes and learn more about each other and themselves. Great mood lifter. I really enjoy it and I plan to pick up author's other works. Well, maybe Calling the Show first, which will be published in a month, before I venture into By His Rules, because it's BDSM lite. ^^

This was a quick enjoyable read.

Rant ahead:

My only complaint and this author isn't the only one who does it, is to say someone went to Canada like they went to the corner store.

"We're going to Canada"
"He went to Canada"
"Let's get married in Canada"

Facts about Canada that you probably didn't know
At 3,855,103 square miles, Canada is the second largest country in the world, behind Russia.
Canada has 10 provinces and 3 territories
Canada has six time zones.

This is a well-written book, with great characters, in a believable relationship. Nice secondary characters throughout.

I am drawn to JA Rock's domestic discipline scenarios. I do not find them hot at all, but I'm intrigued by the premise. D/s I get. BDSM I get. Giving a loved partner a spanking with a hairbrush to teach them to do better I don't relate to. It seems so weird, so this makes it a bit like reading a book about a far-off and exotic culture. An enjoyable culture though.

I thought this was going to be a piece of fluff, but it was SO much more. I really was so pleasantly surprised. This was a greta read, fun, heart warming, and engrossing. I loved the MC's and secondaries. Loved!

I enjoyed this book very much. It made me laugh, and I do love a bratty sub. I also adore the whole Freaky Friday trope and this was a perfect spin on that.

This book left me with a smile on my face, content and happy...what more could I want?

I love books of all genres, tea, and movies. I rely primarily on my Bluetooth-ingesting dog, Professor Anne Studebaker, for guidance in life. This means I frequently end up at the dog park when I should be working. Stop by my blog sometime, or e-mail. I love to talk to other readers.
