How to describe what I'm feeling right now?
This second book was breathtaking, I needed to stop a couple of times to catch my breath.
I was feeling so sad, tears came and I just could not stop them ...
There is one book that could do this to me, but this one was overwhelming.
If you can touch me that way than you are worth more than 6 stars !!

The end of book 2 makes me feel desperate, because I want to know more ...
But I know I have to wait ...
It's going to be very hard, but if James and Sarah can d...more

Her Loving Husband’s Curse starts just after Her Dear and Loving Husband left off. James and Sarah are very happy to be reunited and are enjoying the life they have with one another. But when you have as much history together as these two have you eventually have to face your past.

I love Allard’s storytelling ability. The way she filled Her Loving Husband’s Curse with so much history and emotion made me feel as if I was in the story. Allard’s writing is just stellar.

James loves his life with Sar...more

I must say I was absolutely blown away with the first two books in this amazing trilogy. It has everything I love to read about, vampires, witches, Salem, mystery, a great love story, magic, werewolves, and twists & turns like you would never see coming cause I didn't.

Moving to Salem had been something Sarah had been thinking about for some time, after divorcing her ex-husband she had packed up and left Los Angles to start her new life. Hoping her change of location would put a stop to the d...more

"...we bid farewell to it and all we hold dear." - Charles Hicks, Tsalagi (Cherokee) Vice Chief speaking of the Trail of Tears, November 4, 1838, Legends of America

after all they had been through, James and Sarah Wentworth are finally getting settled as husband and wife. the past, however, just would not let go easily. Sarah is having dreams about the baby she lost hundreds of years ago while James is reliving the pain and horror he witnessed on the Trail of Tears in 1831. the truth about the ex...more

Her Loving Husband’s Curse
Author: Meredith Allard

Raven Mockers are evil spirits. All they care about is prolonging their own life force by feeing from others to do it. Torturing the dying and quickening their deaths in order to consume the heart of the victim and lengthening their life span by the number of years the victim still had to live. An interesting prologue and dialogue between two characters. This is where our story begins. Take a trip to Salem Massachusetts along with Sarah, James, Ol...more

Having read Her Dear and Loving Husband, book 1 in this series, I was looking forward to continuing on with the story of James and Sarah. Would the efforts of investigative report Kenneth Hempel have any affects on their lives after they managed to hide the fact that James was a vampire was from him.

James and Sarah's story is heartbreaking. Here is a couple who, against all odds, managed to find each other and build the life they should have had before it was interrupted by the Salem Witch Trial...more

Today's review is on Her Loving Husband's Curse by Meredith Allard

Her Loving Husband's Curse is the second installment in Allard's Loving Husband series, and is just as much of a hit as the first. Written so eloquently, the reader cannot help but be pulled into the story and feel every emotion of the wonderful characters.

James and Sarah Wentworth are finally putting their lives back together after averting the discovery that James is a Vampire. But just because James' name was removed from Hempe...more

This is a great sequel to what is going to be an awesome trilogy. I was very excited to read this book after I enjoyed the first so much. Ms. Allard has such a way of weaving history and fiction together that draws you in and makes you 'see' the actual events happening before you. You feel like you are there, you can see the history and feel it's relation to the story before you. Normally if you mentioned reading about history, you might think that sounds boring, but not the way Ms. Allard write...more

I've been looking forward to reading Her Loving Husband's Curse ever since I read the first book in the trilogy, Her Dear and Loving Husband, and it was absolutely worth the wait!

As the book begins, Sarah is finally reunited with her husband, vampire James Wentworth, and both are living happy, productive lives: He is an English professor at Salem State University in Massachusetts, (teaching night classes, of course!) while she is a university librarian. Unfortunately for the couple, however, Ken...more

First off, let me say that this book was phenomenal. It incorporates some of my favorite things: vampires, witches, and love.

The story centers around a modern day couple facing a big problem. He's a vampire. Throughout the book, you learn their history (and it's a long one) and finding each other again. You learn about events in James' (the vampire and hero) life over the last 340 years.

Throughout the novel, there are snippets from letters James had written to his deceased wife, and mostly cente...more

I really enjoyed the first book in this trilogy and have been looking forward to reading the second. I really didn't want the first one to end.

Once again we get more mystery, more nightmares and more chaos, only this time a huge part of it centers around James instead of Sarah.

We get more of James' haunting past while he was searching for Sarah and waiting for her to come back to him. Of the things, places and people that he experienced and got to know along the way.

We also get more of Hempel....more

This is book 2 of a Trilogy, and this is one that did not disappoint. If you have read the first book, you will love this one! The main characters, James and Sarah are back again, newly married, and are living in bliss really, but something threatens their happiness that has to due with James's immortality. There were also great historical aspects here, and if you enjoy history, you would probably appreciate this story. This was a well written novel and like the first book, there was a good flow...more

The crap really hits the fan in HER LOVING HUSBAND'S CURSE as Kenneth Hempell's wish comes to pass. Meredith did a great job of bringing the past into the present with her researched history, retelling of past events and the addition of prejudiced/bigoted beliefs that fill the world not only now but back then.

I really enjoyed HER DEAR AND LOVING HUSBAND and was really excited to have the chance to read book 2. Although I didn't feel book 2 was as good I still enjoyed the continuation of Sarah an...more

This is book two in the Loving Husband trilogy. I enjoyed this installment, it is full of history and references to American events and hardships. The continuation of Sara/Elizabeth & James' story is unique and very well written. The new characters and obstacles add to the story making this a great read. Allard leaves you wanting more and I am really looking forward to the third and final installment of the Loving Husband Trilogy. I definitely recommend this series to others who love paranor...more

I am not a fan of the vampire genre but this book is so much more. Meredith Allard's Her LOving Husband's Curse is a continuation of the love between James and Sarah that began in the Salem of the 1690's. American history is present in the story, not only Salem but the Trail of Tears. Allard tells a tale of persecution be it vampires or witches or any group that does not conform to the norm. A lesson to be learned is get to know the individual not just your belief about a group. Hysteria and fea...more

I gave this 3 stars at first. Changed it to 4 stars. The first book was a free kindle book. This was the second book in the trilogy. It is sweet and romantic. Not too heavy on the sex. The kind of loves scenes that leaves your imagination to fill in the blank. It's not the perfect book, but a pretty decent read. I will purchase the 3rd one whenever it comes out this year. The author did leave you wondering what would happen to James, Sarah and their baby Grace.

This series is so much better than Twilight. The story is better. The relationship is better. I cried at the end of this book. I just love James. Disappointed I have to wait until next spring for the final book. Get the first two from Barnes and Noble while they're free.

The historical references to the Trail of Tears seamed forced. I think I understood the social message but the spiral of hopelessness and loss seamed forced in the characters' narrative.
Sarah
Maybe I'm just tired and cranky, but I found the ending offensive. The way the author compared the treatment of vampires in this book to the Trail of Tears is just bizarre.
Erin
Loved this.

Woman meets a man (vampire) who feels close to him. Turns out, they were in a past life together.

Mom would love this.

not as compelling as the first, but I still enjoyed this book and am looking forward to the next installment.

Not only is this a great Love Story....it is filled with great Historical Facts. Loved It!!!

the first book in this series was dynamite. it kept me hooked from page one. the second book was not as great but still good. It was interesting but it started to drone on an on and it kind of reminded me of the sookie stackhouse series as far as vampires going public. I also didn't like how all of the sudden their daughter from hundreds of years ago just mysteriously shows up at an orphanage they are at. There was no explanation and it was just too convenient. I am hoping the 3rd book in the se...more
