Disappointing. There was nothing new here, other than very general advice - get enough sleep, take me-time, eat well, put on makeup - and I feel like anyone who reads a magazine could get the same information.
I was most interested in Lauren's hairstyles; they were boring too. Mostly braids (which I can do already thank you) or hair worn down and wavy. Old news.

If you want this kind of information, either watch hair how-to videos on You Tube (more helpful) or read the Beauty section of any popul More...

I love Lauren Conrad's style. Always have. It's classy, clean, and cosmopolitan. But I didn't love this book like I loved her book Style. This book was more for girls who are maybe 12-14. It was just really basic stuff.

Everyone has pictures through their teen years where they are like.. what was I thinking??? It's like Conrad begins talking about things in the book but doesn't elaborate too far into the subject. I guess one thing in the book she does real More...

I really like Lauren Conrad and I have to say I have been quite a fan since her hit TV show 'The Hills' (and I still watch reruns..). I think she is a pretty good author, not outstanding but at least she knows what she's doing. This book is much like her last, 'Style', it's mostly beauty tips concerning hair, make-up, nails and even a little bit of healthy living. I read the entire book, Style, a while back but picking up this one I briefly skimmed the sections which I was interested in reading More...

After the success of her book Style, New York Times bestselling author Lauren Conrad (who is, of course, also known for starring in MTV's Laguna Beach and The Hills as well as being the author of the L.A Candy series as well as The Fame Game books) has released Beauty (Harper Collins) a rather informative guide offering up various beauty tips and secrets from the stylish star.

I can see this latest venture quickly becoming a must-have beauty book for girls and women of all ages as it successfull More...

This book was meant to help people learn about beauty. Page after page was about cool tips and tricks that everyone should know about and use or maybe serve as a reminder to use those tricks. There were do's and don'ts and crazy information about some products. There were great examples on how to do things and it was clear on each step you had to take. It told you what to avoid and it had chapters so you didn't have to search the whole book for little things.
I expected a little more from the book More...

Primarily this book is for beginners, but as a more experienced makeup artist, hair stylist and "fashionista" I still found this an enjoyable book. It took me back to basics with all the things that I usually look past just because I know more advanced techniques. It proves you can create a perfect face with only a few products instead of the 50 billion that we usually thrash upon ourselves with every day. You can create a beautiful hairstyle in just a few steps and you can sure as heck amp up y More...

Lauren Conrad is my idol. No really, she is. Another successful and well-written book. If you enjoyed or got help from her book Style, then you will love this one!

I am a huge Lauren Conrad fan. I wish to be as successful as her. When you look at her you know she is an amazing person and that's how I want to be. Anyway getting back to the book, it's an amazing book. She put in a lot of effort on this book and it is quite visible. If you own bobbi browns beauty rules you will find the two are very similar. But Lauren shares her own experience being on the spotlights and such. She is great. I'd rate it 5 but just because Lauren is my fave I won't give her bo More...

Any of my friends could tell you I’m not a traditional girly girl. I rarely use makeup, and if I do, it’s mostly just stuff for acne or lipgloss or concealer. I don’t actively go seeking tips, but I will admit that that this book did tempt me with the combination of autobiographical narration AND beauty tips. However, I found that “Lauren Conrad Beauty” sorely lacked in terms of new material in the beauty tips department and I found myself reading it for the autobiographical bits that are includ More...

This book is the best of u are kind of new to makeup (12-18 yrs old or just not good at it) and it is written well, with 'big' words incorporated in good context. The fact that Lauren Conrad wrote this book was definitely the reason for me buying it, since she always looks healthy and great and I wanted to get all of her tips. I already knew she was a bearable writer since I read L.A Candy (best guilty pleasure books EVER.) I don't have a huge attention span so I was worried I would get bored an More...

If you've ever (a) used bronzer successfully, (b) visited TheBeautyDepartment.com, (c) looked up "beachy hair tutorials" on YouTube or (d) pinned any beauty tip regarding applying foundation or eye makeup, you won't need this book. I promise.
Much like "Lauren Conrad Style," I felt like this book was aimed more toward a high-school and junior-high set; the "tips" aren't anything we haven't all heard before (wash your face before you go to bed! avoid these ingredients in shampoos and makeup! don't More...

I picked this book up at the library mainly for the hair section but it falls short in all categories if u know anything about make-up and hair. LC even tries to convey her knowledge of the chemicals that beauty products are comprised of, but it's obvious she has no idea what she's talking about and says "gross" too much. It's annoying. The hair tutorial section is redundant, but helpful and she actually uses models other than herself! Stick to her website (thebeautydepartment.com) for beauty ti More...

I absolutely love this book!! I have already started doing all the hairstyles with my daughter and I learned a little about make-up, brushes, nail polish, and other general beauty skills. I just loved how it is easy to look stuff up, the pictures help recreate the skills listed, and the helpful tips really are helpful. This was a pleasant surprise!!! A fantastic book for teens and adults!

I got my two copies of the books signed by her and I got to meet her as well. The book overall is good, but focuses too much on outer beauty. That really surprised me because I thought she'd start off with saying inner beauty is important, but she didn't. But the book is still good for people who have no idea how to do anything. It's kinda pointless but hey, there are some good tips in there.

As others have said prior, there's nothing new here. This is probably good for someone just starting out with makeup, but that's as far as I'll take it. One sentiment that stuck with me that I haven't read in other beauty books was about how Conrad ignores the pressure of Hollywood. The beauty ideals that are present. That's something I can appreciate there.

I bought Lauren's fashion book earlier this year and fell in love with it. I have a similar style to her and picked up some great ideas. When I heard about this beauty edition, I knew it'd be great straight away. A lot of the content is information I already know, being a big hair and make up fan, but there's definitely stuff I've picked up. Love it!

This is the first book I read by Lauren Conrad. The hair section was a disappointment. She only has long hair models! My hair is just past my shoulders and I was looking for ideas. Not every woman has super long hair and I wish she would of put that into consideration. I do like how honest she is about her hair and makeup mishaps.

Great Books added it

Lauren Conrad is the star of the MTV hit series The Hills. Whether she is in front of the camera or behind the scenes, she has spent years learning from the pros, and now she is sharing all her beauty secrets. Lauren's personal anecdotes and illustrated step-by-step lessons will have you looking great day or night.

Absolutely hated it. While I had never admired her (actually really disliked her in general) I thought maybe her redeeming quality was that she seemed like a smart girl who knew a thing or two about ahem* 'outward beauty'. Nope! This book is so generic I could have wrote it in my sleep. Terrible Lauren, terrible.

I know nothing about makeup. Literally ZERO. I just started using foundation/powder and I'm 23 years old...kind of embarrassing. So this book taught me some helpful hints. I love Lauren's beauty style, very clean and simple. I don't think this book would be very helpful for experienced makeup users though.

I'm not a fan of her or anything, but I liked this book. Easy tips all for the beauty/fashion person in a beginners level. Step by step guide for an easy, effortless style. People mention it's nothing new, but when you find yourself out if internet, this book is a really good quick guide to have available!

This guide focuses on make up and skin care. Although I don't wear make up, it gave nifty tips & such. I have bad acne (let's be real here girl!) and this book gave me tips on how to take better care. Though i preferred the first one, this one is equally as great.

Pretty pictures, nice tips, and she writes in a very relatable way.
Also, my hair will pretty much never do what the model's in it could, but I did walk away with a few new interesting things. Haha.

I'm a fan of LC's style, so that's always fun~

Lauren Conrad will forever be one of my all-time favorites. I think she is just so classy and chic. I can't wait to try out some of the looks and tips from this book. I've had Lauren Conrad Style on my bookshelf for the longest time and have never gotten around to reading it. I think I just might now!
