I want to go ahead and make a point to say that when an author is going to narrate a story from 3 different first person POVs, that it is imperative for the voices to be so distinct that it is impossible to blend the characters together.

I knew I wanted to read this book because I'm a HUGE Greek mythology junkie, but I didn't expect to love it this much!
Tera Lynn Childs took a well-known myth about a seemingly villainous girl with snakes for hair and turned it into something golden! Sweet Venom was well-written, well-crafted, and well-everything else. I had a blast reading this original portrayal of Medusa and cool mythological beasties.

Sweet Venom was everything I expected it to be fast paced and action packed with just the right amount of hot boys and great storytelling! She also set it in San Francisco a place I am very familiar with and also mentions a place close to my hometown Orangevale which is pretty cool.

I absolutely love Tera's YA books! Each one has a rich mythology and a romance that leaves me wanting more. Sweet Venom is another one of her must read books. Sweet Venom has a refreshing, unique Greek mythology with a trio of butt kicking, strong, realistically written teen sisters whom are also descendants of Medusa. eh. it was okay. I really liked the dry wit and humor, but it was just WAY too talky. There was an explanation for EVERYTHING. I just wouldn'e really liked to have figured out a few things for myself. The whole show-not-tell thing. I think this a very good teen read! I found it charming and exciting. The protagonists are all lovable and believable, except for the monsters of course. It moves at a good pace, the dialogue is smart and funny, and the plot twists keep coming. It isn't exactly a new and different story if you've been reading a lot of these these types of books, but for the audience it is intended - teen readers of paranormal romance, it is well written and the huntress heroines will certainly have you worrying...more

This book bring Greek mythology to the modern age. However, it is not really like Percy Jackson at all. I'm happy with that since I was worried that it would be. Sweet Venom is the story of three triplets reunited. It would be a boring, sappy book if not for the fact that THEY MUST KILL MONSTERS!!! Grace, Gretchen, and Greer are descendants of the gorgon Medusa. Medusa never really was evil, she was the one who kept the monsters dead. Now the triplets must do that job for her in present day.

I'm a big fan of Tera Lynn Child's writing. Her characters are always so youthful and fun! Yet Sweet Venom just didn't do it for me. I was disappointed. While the characters were still fun, young and witty, I found myself getting lost in the different points of view, and getting bored in the story.

I read Tera Lynn Child's Forgive My Fins a while back and really enjoyed it. Yes, it was "junior chick lit," and yes, it adapted a well-known and well-loved legend, that of the mer-people, something others had done before her, but it sparkled. This book was a whole lot better than I thought it would be. It had good actions, some really strong characterization, and it was surprisingly clean. A little cutesy at times, yes. Some motives needed re-editing, like when Greer decides to join the trio. I felt her long debate should've been cut down and summarized into one strong statement. Another teen fantasy based on Greek Mythology, with a Buffy-esque feel. Grace moves to San Francisco, starts at a new private school, and discovers she has a twin and that there are mythological monsters running around that only she and her twin can see. Why? I loved this book! It was original and the writing style was great. I have a weakness for Greek and Roman mythology, so I couldn't help myself when I saw it on the shelf at Barnes and Noble. The only thing that worried me at first was, with there being three main characters (that are triplets), that Grace, Gretchen, and Greer would be carbon copies of each other and I wouldn't be able to keep track.
