Uh. Well. Kind of a "Boy who cried wolf" twisted tale, with an "oh my word!" ending. I guess some kids would find it funny. And there is a moral about telling the truth and not teasing/joking. But, um, I don't know. I think there was an attempt at being funny throughout or something, and I didn't get whatever I was suppose to. Certainly not the book I was looking for to use in my Lobster Craft Storytime.

Lobster thinks it is fun to scare his friends. He tells all of his friends that a shark is going to gobble them up, and then says "Only joking!." Lobster has so much fun teasing his friends that he does not notice that a shark has been following him. Lobster gets cornered by a shark and gobbled up.
The artwork for this book is done in a cartoon style. The animals all have bright eyes filled with emotion. The scenery is bright and colorful, and will appeal to children.

"Only Joking!" Laughed the Lobster is the tale (no pun intended) of a practical-joke-playing lobster who gets his comeuppence in the end. Bright, happy illustrations accompany this tickley, giggley lobster and his underwater friends.

Used for "Fish-A-Mania" Storytime-July, 2010.
