The tenth volume of Death Note really brought back the fun, suspense, and all around good stuff of the series for me. In this volume, Light begins to put into motion his new plan for taking down Near, who's gotten a little too close to the truth for Light's taste. Once again he gets someone else to do his dirty work, a fellow by the name of Mikami who's quite the psychopath character, while he tries to prove his innocence. An old, and very unexpected character shows up for a twist I didn't see c

With only two volumes left to the series it is probable that the creators knew I would keep reading no matter how dull and drawn out the conversations had become in this series. Unless they knew I found the conversations dull. Then they were intending to bore me, but threw in Mikami to completely take me by surprise. Unless I read it on a Saturday. Then it would be obvious that the bagel I ate was far more interesting to read than a new origin story about a magical killing person. But they antic

After a while I began to grow tired of the repetetive nature of the Death Note series. However, with book 10, Near becomes a much more important character and Light becomes involved with yet another special someone. The plot line was interesting, and I was glad that emphasis was put on the other members of the Japanese police force. I noticed a few differences in the art too, particularly in the scene with Near and his finger puppets. It was a great scene, and the strangeness of the art depictin

This volume woke me up just as I was concerned all momentum to the series was going all George R.R. Martin on me. This volume feels like a chess match as Near and Light up the ante. Loved the part where Near decides to travel to Japan, but needs to call back an agent to help him with travel arrangements. Nice tie in bringing back a female character from Light's past. Look forward to see if the rest of the Japanese task force will take further steps that make Light's life difficult. Still wi

This book was really good and one of the best volumes ive read so far of these volumes. Near is getting closer and closer to solving this case, Mello almost comitted suicide and killed Light yagami's father, and Light yagami(Kira) is getting closer in to killing Near and Mello by using other people like a weather women that liked Kira when they were both in High school and Misa-Misa which got married to her but dosent really love her, just using her for her eyes of death so that she can kil

Overall Rating: A++
Synopsis: A psychological/supernatural thriller created by writer Tsugumi Ohba and illustrator Takeshi Obata, Death Note follows a high school student, Light Yagami, who discovers the notebook of a shinigami that allows him to kill anyone by writing the victim's name while picturing his or her face. Light's goal is to create and lead a world cleansed of evil using the book, but where is the line between an honorable goal, and mass murder?

The storyline is finally getting better again!! I really enjoyed the first 6? or so Death Notes. Now I'm just reading them to finish the series. One of the characters, Misa Amane, really grates on my nerves, and the storyline is more detailed and confusing than I want to think about sometimes. It's crime/mystery/thriller but there are all these crazy plot twists that keep working out...

Getting better... I absolutely love the continuity: events from the past tie in to the present and characters we thought were gone return. A creepy Kira-worshipper becomes an interesting new character, Misa becomes even dumber (which I thought was impossible), and Light displays some incredible game. Women everywhere beware.

Everyone knows they have been enemies since childhood, but how far would the really go to hurt each other? That sounds like a commercial for a cheesy wrestling match... Everyone knows Mello would win that. Matt could be the guy in the middle with the microphone... (off topic) Anyway, another great book in the series! Loved it!

It was a great book. I really liked how the other task force members were seen more. I didn't like the fact that Light is involed with somebody else besides Misa because she really loves him. I love that Near had the finger pupetts of Kira, L, and Misa. Also I like that Mello and Near are kinda coroperating.

I don't know about you guys, but whenever Near goes off on an informative tangent, I kind of....nod....off.....
But that could be because of reading it at 6 in the morning in a cafe with very, very slow morning business.

Kira and Near continue to maneuver around each other as one of them attempts to deflect suspicion while the other tries to pin him down. The series has taken on more of a blockbuster movie feel in the second half, but it's still good.

[...]she was excellent student, but that was only her grades, she, herself, is downright stupid. ( Near about Takada)
It is still amazing but I can’t give five stars when there is no L.

This series is really starting to drag on. It started out with an interesting premise but has just declined as the series has progressed. It's quite obvious that the later books were only written to fulfill a 12 book series.

Seems to be getting back into the swing of it all, which is nice. Here's hoping the final two volumes keep the good times coming...

Not bad, but a little wordy in parts. A bit of a lull between 9 and 11, which go a lot faster (but without sacrificing story).

A wicked series so far haven't finished the series yet, I'm on 11. It kicks the butts of every other manga book I've ever read.

I think this story could have been shortend to half the length. 12 volues are too long.

Read two hours. Kira's new spokesperson is Light's ex girlfriend. He gets to know again gets information on cracking the Kira case even though he is Kira.
