Anyone who knows me also knows how much I love the sonnet, this much disciplined form of poetry, which dates back to the 1200’s, has been mastered by Canadian poet and poet laureate of the city of New Westminster BC, Candice James, within her book of sonnets “Midnight Embers”.

Candice is a master of the sonnet form, but what inspires me more is her poetry itself. Her style, theme, rhythm, humour, is instantly enjoyable but multi-layered and each subsequent reading of a poem in this book reveals hidden meanings and treasures. She is without doubt one of the finest poets writing today and encourages new poets with her infectious charm, wit and enthusiasm. A great lady!
